I recently ordered a HID headlight kit from LiteGlow. I should receive it some time next week. I'll keep everyone posted on the installation and whether or not it's worth the upgrade. LiteGlow tech. said install is about as easy as changing your headlights.

My HID story.

In my area, HID headlights are a major theft item. One rainy day, my train station had 30 sets of HID headlights ripped out of various high-end autos-and yes, I said day. There has been a rash of thefts from dealers and now anywhere where there are cars parked with little other traffic, is a prime target. Residences sometimes get hit too. Keep that in mind if you live in a large metro area.

Which part number kit did you order and what was the cost?

I would love to have HID on my RL. However, it might not be possible for me bacause my RL has daytime running lights. I believe the DRL makes the headlights run at 6 volts. Anyone know if this might be a problem? There probably is a way around it.

Thanks for bringing up the topic and I hope it works out for you. Looking forward to the install pics.

How do you know which one of these will work with the Ridgeline?

If I am not mistaken, the R-L has H4 bulbs. One thing to be careful of... typical H4 kits will make you lose your high beams. You will need to buy a HID kit which retain Hi-Lo beam(but those don't really work all that well). This typically involves a mirror in the bulb assembly that is moved back and forth when you require high beam.

HID headlights are nice, but at what price.
They probably won't be a target of theft if they aren't stock anyway.
The Ridgeline lights are not that bad.
I'll take my Silverstar replacements any day.
They are better than stock, easy to change and cheap. :)

Not to hijack the thread, but which SilverStars did you get?

9003 ST is the stock number.
The U.S. kind.
About 50 bucks.
Is that what you wanted? :)

No. Still waiting to hear back from the dealer on the trade.

I have mcculloch 4500k HID's on my RSX, and I love them. I would never go back to halogen. But with what Shingles said, you will either loose your high beams with H4's or get some kind of dual purpose bulbs. (I'm not sure who makes those?) I didn't have this problem because I have H1's .The DRL is no big deal, just pull the fuse ;)

BTW oh and Hello, nice to meet all of you.

A question for those who run HID conversion kits with no lo/hi beam. Do you have an annual safety inspection in your state? Here in MA, we do, and there are several tests done on the headlights. Low beam operation, low beam aim, high beam operation, high beam aim. I don't see how I could pass inspection without this functionality.

You won't pass, but the swap is very quick, literally 5 minutes to swap in the stock bulb.

My S2000 had HID and had a separate Halogen for high beams. Are there two bulbs in the RL?

No, the H4 bulb has two filaments in it. One for Hi, the other for Lo.

Sorry it took so long to reply everyone. I barely had the chance to install the HID kit yesterday. Still need to take pics, but I love them. Couldn't see myself changing from HID in the future. I'm sold! By the way, you do lose your high beams with this kit. Install was a breeze, takes less than 5 minutes to change back to stock. The lights are Diamond White 8000k.

So I guess the liteglow kit is not a full H4 replacement.

So I guess the liteglow kit is not a full H4 replacement.

Here's an example of a dual beam kit (the picture included isn't the actual kit)

Another word of advice: if what you are interested is max light output (ie lumens) stick with kits that are 4100-4300K. While those other 6000k+ kits might look cool, the fact is the higher in color temp you go, the lower lumens are produced.

I too want improved lighting,

So far I have bought European spec 100/80 watt H4 bulbs, but not installed yet.

Just checked on E-bay under Honda Ridgeline Accessories and came across an HID kit from JDM???

They also offer a low/high beam option in the H4 only, we are the lucky ones. I just sent a request for a price on this as it is not listed.

Would this be a suitable alternative in our Ridges.

I'll try to list the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=36476&item=79797627138&rd=1...

OOPS that did not work, so please check E-bay motors & comment!

Maybe this one http://japanjdm.com

HID conversion kits are not DOT legal. Mostly because the housing aren't designed for HID's and will cause increase glare to on coming traffic.

Becareful with increased wattage bulbs. If can and has melted wiring harnesses as well was the entire headlight assembly(if it's plastic).

8000k are very purple/blue. Might get in crap from the cops.

Xenon depot makes very good kits, I have quite a few friends that have them, and they have never had any problems.

Who will be the first one?

The LiteGlow kit does run a bit warm, but after more than an hour and a half of driving, temp. was close to start up temp. at full brightness. Keep in mind, regardless of what you are told, any HID kit that offer hi/low beam should have three wires coming off of the bulb. One wire for ground, and one each for high beam and low beam. This is why a standard H4 bulb has three male connectors. I'm sure it is possible for the ballast to change voltage or amperage to achieve a brighter glow when using your high beam, but I am not 100% sure. All I know is that I love my HID kit, and I will address any issues as they come about. Thank's everyone in the continued interest in HID kits. I would hate to think I was the only one.
