2nd Annual SoCal ROC Meet!

Happy New Year everyone,

I am planning the 2ND annual SoCal ROC Meet. I would like to hold it the same weekend as last year! Saturday, March 17, 2007 (which is also St Patrick's Day if you are Irish). I know if all that came last year and the members that we have gained since that time come out, we can blow the national meet record, which they beat us by 1 owner, out of this hemisphere!

I will post lodging info if you would like to make a whole weekend of it later but for now the plan is to take a poll of who is interested in coming and bold enough to commit to it now! I AM! We could also meet at the Saturday morning Auto Show in Irvine for coffee from 7:00 to 9:00 if you care too?

From there, we will meet for the photo op at Capistrano State Beach on PCH at 10:00 Saturday morning then drive ,in trail, to Dana Point Harbor for the impromptu Ridgeline Truck Show and eat. I will be asking my usually partners to assist in anything we can do to make it more fun than the last time. BRING YOUR TALK ABOUTS FOR THE CARAVAN!

Please vote the poll and post any suggestions you may have. This is a regional meet and greet but if you are passing through, come on down and join the fun. All Ridgeline Owners are welcome!

Yep! It’s that time again to gather all of our SoCal friends together again but more importantly to also meet & greet all of our new members as well. I’d really like to see us nail down a solid itinerary this go around as we've learned so much from our very first meet & greets of last year. We've got a few very professional photographers that hopefully can donate their time to this great event and I’ll have plenty of time to whittle some cool give away billet goodies by then. Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!! ……. :p

I will try to make it to this meet, since i got to meet some of you at the 1st annual cal roc in santa cruz. i have to see about the whole week, possibly spend time in san diego right after or maybe during the whole trip, since its in the neighborhood. I was planning to drive out that day (3/17) since the kids are starting spring break. We will be staying at Disneyland 3/17 - 3/20. But I don't know if we will make the meet in time :( It means taking an extra day off for both of us to travel Friday...and if I take a new job before then....:rolleyes:

Hey Rocky, I will be taking the scenic route drive down there since I live on PCH and Bellflower. I will be researching the hotel and motels for lodging and post it by Wednesday I hope. I'm headed to Iowa on Thursday for the weekend and I want to try and get that done before I leave.

That’s awesome Bill! The nine of us that you’ve already met should be there as well as a host of “regulars” plus We are hoping for a whole lot of new members too. It’s gonna be a blast!

What time and where is everyone going to show up? Living the farthest of SoCal, may have to schedule my day :D . I'm leaning torwards the idea. I will give a definite answer to all the closer it gets, so i can re-arrange my schedule.

As Far as Meeting up in Irvine, im not too sure about. If im in San Diego, i think it would be closer for me to just meet up at the beach on PCH by the 10am time slot. A ride from San Diego to the beach should be roughly 1 hour drive, pending traiffic. But, if i decide to room in a nearby area by irvine or the beach, then i might consider the EARLY bird cup of java! But traveling from Turlock(between modesto and merced) is about 6-7 hours or so to san diego, pending on traffic for FRIDAY! But definately count me in. 1 way or another, ill make it to at least the PCH beach before the dana point. put on about 400 miles 1 way would be a good run for my truck. i only have 8k miles on it since June 3rd, 2006 of purchase. So, a good break in the long haul will definately wake my truck up a bit. I am going to be in San diego on February 16th to the 19th, then heading to Lom Poc to pick up my sister and brother in law(president's day 19th feb) then heading back to Anaheim for our little Disney Trip we had planned out for 3 days(20th-22nd). "SEASON HOLDERS!" Gotta love Disney, not matter how old! haha! So, if any of you are around, or i you see the BLUE RIDGE SPECIAL roling around, give me a HORN beep! Ill do the same if i notice any of you SOCallers .

Great news! I'm taking a couple vacation days in March and driving out for the SoCal meet! My wife's best friend lives in Bellflower, so she may not come to the event. At least I won't have to make the 6-hour drive from Phoenix alone. My wife and I are going to start looking for hotels somewhere between Cerritos and Dana Point. If we find any smokin' deals, I'll pass along the info. Has the schedule changed much since the first posting? Or are we still looking at: 7AM - Coffee in Irvine; 10AM - Photos at Capistrano Beach; then an impromptu Ridgeline truck show at Dana Point Harbor. What the current head count? I'm coming from 400 miles away... anyone else coming from so far?

Don't worry....everyone will chime in..SoCal do have the most meets in ROC or someone is always planning something to get everyone togther and hang out. Summer is coming up and i'm pretty sure there will be lots of meets coming up soon. Keep an eye out or someone will let you know :D

Do a Map Quest or for those who have them, use your navigation system for the location of Capistrano State Beach and the location where you are going to stay. Dana Point Harbor is Northwest of Capistrano State Beach where the show and lunch will be served.

I also decided that we should just meet up at Capistrano State Beach on PCH Between 10:00 and 11:00 then Caravan to Dana Point Harbor for lunch and the show. After that it's impromptu! I will start another poll to get a final head count for name buttons the last week of February and the first week of March.

If anyone has any ideas about this meet feel free to express them. I will be bringing the SoCal ROC banner for all the newbies and those who joined the ROC after the last recorded setting SoCal meet. I know we will break the old SoCal record and set a new National meet record this year!

Last year, AZ RIdgeliner and I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Irvine. It was very nice, clean, quiet and close to where we needed to be. It was also more reasonably priced than closer to the beach. I would stay at this location again if I already didn't have other plans elsewhere. My family and I are staying in Anaheim (Disney Grand Californian) to use our timeshare.

$90 per night. About 30 miles from where we have to meet up at Dana point and Capistrano beach.

That is what I called it but you are more than likely correct. I know how to get there! Kevin, it's the same park I took you and Dylan too when you came out. Those who are new to SoCal ROC, go to the image gallery and check out last years pictures in Laguna Beach.

That sounds good. We should get to the hotel around 3PM on Friday. So I can call you later that night and we can work something out for a mini caravan down to the meet spot. I have an old greyscale GPS (about 8 years old), but it still works... and it should point me in the right direction the whole time. I take it your cell number is somewhere in this post? If not, you can email or PM it to me. I can also bring some old Cobra walkie talkies that still work. Awesome!

I'm not exactly certain what the tickets prices are, but I doubt it's expensive. You can get tickets over the phone in advance, or that night at the door. There is a two drink minimum, but that doesn't mean it has to be alcohol. According to their website, the shows are:

Tuesday - Friday is an 8:00pm show
Saturday's shows are 7:00pm & 9:15pm
Sundays are 7:00pm.

Search for "comedy and magic club" on Google, and you can check out their website. Looks like fun to me!

It is only on that day. However, some of us like to meet up for dinner on Friday if we live close enough , like I do or some who live further away will rent a room or camp ground and make it a weekend. It is your option.

Still trying to get the mud off from the great blizzard of aught and seven!! Hit the sack at my sons home in Illinois and it was 1 degree. Got up in the am and it was 17 degrees. A whole lot warmer until my son told me there was a mius sign to the left of the 17. 2 weeks of 4 wheel drive to get in and out of his driveway. Capo Beach will be a cakewalk for this dirty old, but not tired, RL.

that's not a bad idea. Tie a few cans and you have a low tech security/alarm system, easily bypassed with scissors.

That just brought up the picture of cowboys tying their ponies up at stops. Yeah... that sounds nice, the ridge is my pony.

Dang...very nice, verry nice brandon, good work. Brandon left out the best part of Ridgey where's the picture of the Bed without and with the bed mat :D . Thanx to DLS time, it gives me time to wash my truck and spiffy it up for the meet for Saturday and wash her down either thursday or friday after work. I'm also hoping my shipment comes in before friday so i can put it on before the meet (my new hood ornament).

Well, i know EXACTLY how you feel! My boss will do that no matter how long the time off was given! And believe me, Ive crapped pants until the day i really need to know! So i have l learned to do it the way i know i can win 99 % of the time! Request it at least 5 montsh in advance(if possible or the furthest time as possible) and pay for the hotel or event ahead of time and POST my receipt to his OFFICE, showing him He ok'd for the time before i requested it! Usually works!(SO FAR!!) Well, about pictures.......I KNOW you will NOT have a problem from any of us camera savy People! You are always welcome to copies of the pics, are as we normally do, POST them for every otehr ROC'er on here! But, all in all, sorry about your Denied time off. How long is your drive and what city/town are you going to stay in? Ill be driving about 400 miles south from Turlock, To Costa Mesa. Didnt know if you guys are going to be in the area Friday afternoon. Im leaving in 7 hours, as we speak! Heck, that reminds me, i should be sleeping! We're shined up and ready to go. See everyone at Capo Beach!

Hope one of you "shiney truckees" did a double shine. This way it can cover for my truck when the shiney noses are counted. As I remember I did drive it through a car wash in New Mexico or some other state along route 40 or 70 on my way home. It wears a travel patina quite nicely if you can remember it really is a truck. I drew jury duty all week long and on top of that I still haven't got unpacked yet. While I was resting I also had 2 wisdom teeth surgically removed so I look about as used as my truck. But I will arrive on time and smell good too!

Well, i finally got around to washing my RL, haven't washed her since i left for DV for the EOC/ROC Furnace Creek Camping. She's really sparkleling and reflective. I also remembered to get the tires this time. Last time i came to a meet, washed her and even cleaned the bed and cover, but forgot to do the tires. It was all muddy and brake dust was still on the wheels:eek: . Got it this time and meet all of you there.

I will be at the car wash when it opens in the morning and on my way to Capistrano Beach right after that! Rocky if you want to join me at Carson and Paramount, across from Wal-Mart, we can caravan from there?

Well, unfortunately, i am not familiar with the area, so i had the truck washed before i left(Wednesday). But now, i sorta have bugs from the almost 400 mile trip to Costa Mesa. WAS very suprise and GLAD that you finally were able to make it today! IT was nice to know that THE SMURFS had Territory today as well! Looks like a great time. Only missing a Dark Cherry and a Redrock ?

Have you considered starting the meet at a Honda dealership? We've done that a few times with our '06+ Civic club. The dealerships even provide food, some door prizes and discounts! (it's only a 10am-1pm thing) So people can gather at their leisure.

I have been watching for the pictures and comments as you fellow RL owners post, thank you for documenting the meet.

My son Max and I had a very nice time meeting you all for the first time. Not only did I get to make new friends and check out their "mods" but Max and I got to spend some Father-Son time together.

Thanks to Tony for organizing, I'll be looking for you the next time I'm at the Acadamy, don't forget to ask for me the next time you're at Piper Tech.

It was great meeting you guys. Michelle liked it too (much nicer to be around a mature crowd after numerious RSX meets). Almost reminds me of back when I had my legend. We definetly have to do something again. And yes, something a tad bit more local would be nice too... espically where I don't have to drive down to almost to Camp Pendleton to meet you guys. LOL.

Ah yes, that's who I ment. Very nice job kelly. low light shooting w/o a tripod isn't exactly the easiest thing to do, espically with a point and shoot.

Looks like another great California meet was had. Sorry Marilyn and I couldn't have joined you all. We hope to see everyone again at the next ALL CAL meet next September (is that right Tony?) Great photos everyone. On a side note, just heard on the news that the 2006 RL is part of a large Honda recall. Seems some insulating material on the fuel pump may cause the truck to stall. Honda will replace the fuel pump relay.

We got back last night from So Cal (our stay was extended visiting Mickey and Minnie :p ). My family had a blast and it was great to see old friends and make some new ones! Sorry for getting the group lost on the way to lunch (that's what you get for following the AZ guy in CA when he doesn't have navi!).

I am looking forward to the Sedona Meet on April 14th and seeing some of you again. Kelly, hope you and Brandon are still coming!! That will be three groups from the So Cal area....any others??

Since I'm at work now (shhh....don't tell) I will get around to posting a pic or two of my own, but they won't be as good as what I've already seen.
