: Island observations...

Hey, first time caller, long time listener... I really like my Ridge, perhaps because I love El Caminos and Hondas... anyway I have some minor observations in my 10 k of ownership of my Canadian '07.
1.when the redesign comes due how about changing the site lines to allow easier parking, front and back, there is limited sense about where the ends of the truck actually are located
2. only mentioned by one person but the wipers are hard to access when ice/snow becomes and issue
3. the console drink holder should have the orientation of the center slot changed, I use a mug type insulated container, and using the current set up where the mug handle ends up facing the passenger seat is cause for some fumbling
3a, how about a cup holder built into that massive door closer handle? complete with drip tray
4. tactile improvements on window switch hardware
5. I like the sliding window, good for air flow
5a, those who have owned older forerunners realize the expense/rust implications of a sliding window [ bad memories ]
6. the driver sided visor should bend up further, I am 6' but still like the seat up high, the visor clearly has lots of room to fold toward the glass but does not
7. I purchased this based on fuel mileage, rather than buying a diesel, I am so-so not happy/satisfied with my current mileage
8. My Honda Rep for Atlantic Canada apparently does not return calls
9. Dealer is exceptional, I have owner 100's of vehicle and speak from experience
10. Overall I have had some of the minor issues posted, luckily none of the majors .......... I generally have always had a Honda product in the yard while others are cycled in/out
Wish list?
1. Diesel 2. better fuel milage 3. package orientations -- I really do not want leather, I would like heated seated [ I am sure the last model year "special edition is going to be amazing" ] 4. Truck bumpers generally have a spot for a trailer ball for light duty use [ in front of the license plate ] 5. lighten up the pounds of effort required to close the tailgate 6. rethink some of the off road affected items ie the nearness of the brake lines to the wheels/ snow / ice /flying debris 7. the Chev style body tuck of the doors makes running boards an absolute requirement to protect the body and keep mud out of doors/seals -- not to mention the sound deadening aspect of the boards...................... and lastly KEEP BEING A HONDA.................. a few of my interaction with the 1-800 people reminded me of GM reps, uncaring drones, not solution driven -- more into buck passing. There atitude has made me reconsider trading my current Civic for a new FIT!!!!!

Love my Ridge, its going to be around along time

You saw the window sticker, right? It's not going to get any better than what you see on the window, and it most likely will never even get to those numbers because most of the time people are using AC and other accessories that aren't in use when the vehicles are tested. Turn absolutely everything off, drive very, very lightly for a full tank, and I bet you'd see very close to the numbers on the window sticker. I know that right now, in the winter, I'm getting 19-20 mpg because my AC isn't being used. In the summer I'll get, at the lowest, 17 (when it's 115 degrees out) and generally 18 mpg. That's pretty good for 6000 lb. truck pulled by a V6 engine. My previous truck, a Nissan Frontier, wasn't even a 4x4, and it couldn't manage to even get 17 mpg EVER - and it was quite a bit lighter! I seriously have no complaints.

Amen! That's my one big frustration with this truck. If Honda wants to sell it as a truck, at LEAST have the light-duty bumper trailer hitch location available. I don't need to haul a trailer very often, but when I do, it's going to be very annoying to say that I can't do it without spending many hundreds of dollars to install the whole hitch package. Honda really screwed up here. Biggest mistake they made on this truck.

Fog lights should be standard, my last 3 Ford trucks all had factory installed for lights. Come on Honda, get with it.

I totally agree, fog lights should be standard. I would like to add that heated side mirrors should be standard as well (at least on the RTS). This is one feature that I wish I had on my RL...

Hey TCJ... the only bugaboo I had with mileage is the two versions of what was supposedly the rating. Here, [Canada], the two stickers showed 28 mpg on a base truck and 30 mpg on a loaded truck. [ hiway mpg ] This reflects the Canadian gallon of 4.54 litres vs. the US gallon of 3.78 litres of fuel.
I regularly get 24 as I drive 60 miles return to/from work at approx 55 mph on mostly low traffic roads. It was kinda unusual to see the two different ratings, tire size is the same etc, and the base truck would be lighter.
I do have a K&N drop in filter installed and will be trying a Borla cat back system soon. I just had my 1st required oil change at 11,000 k [ I was on the 15 % reminder so really I was in early ] and decided to run Honda Full Synthetic to compensate for the long duration. [strange all the Acuras I've owned required synthetic from the git go]
Thanks for responding!!!
