Hi all! I'm the happy and proud owner of a new 07 Ridgeline (in Canada it's the EX-L S/R). I opted for the splash guards, moonroof, and the chrome bumper package with the hopes of finding somewhere to buy chrome body protectors?
Anyone seen any? I bought the Dark Cherry Pearl version and the chrome REALLY makes it stand out...but it really cries out for chrome on the sides too. Any help would be appreciated. Anyone do their own custom chrome work?

Welcome to the ROC!!! Burtman Industries is a great supporter of this site. He carries some nice accessories for our RL. I'd contact Jason; he may have some suggestions for you.

Check out ROC member K757 and his Redrock Pearl truck with chrome body protectors (AND the very first 5SDude chrome door sills). He got his on eBay and the guy there still has them listed: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CHROME-BODY-SIDE-MOLDINGS-FOR-06-07-HONDA-RIDGELINE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33654QQihZ020 QQitemZ300071352891QQrdZ1 - he's got a 100% positive feedback rating, I bought a set in black and they came promptly and were exactly as advertised. Good luck and welcom to the ROC!

Wow K...that's exactly what I had in mind. I found your thread right after I'd posted, but anyways...thanks for showing me this.
I didn't really want to do this myself, is it difficult ...ie. do you need some kind of knack for getting it straight...My concern is that if I don't get it exactly straight the first time, there's no second chances...or how do I know it'll stick and not come off...how do I know how much wax/clearcoat/whatever to remove?
Should I get some detail shop to do it?

Should I get some detail shop to do it?Oh no, it is MUCH easier than you are thinking. And yes there are plenty of chances, as long as you have more outdoor 3M tape, you can peel off the origianl and re-tape the molding and re-apply.

The guy where I got mine, sent me detailed instructions and a guide sticky tape for alignment. He told where to exactly where to start and at exactly what height. The instructions are "DEAD ON". The place where you have to take your time, is with the guide tape. It is best to park on a near level surface and if get a level if you want.

Pay attention to the tips that I posted, they will help you. You will want another person there to help hold and align (as in my photos)

You should wait until the temperature is fairly warm so the 3M tape really sticks. Oh yeah, and there is plenty of that on the back of mine. There will be no chance that this just doesn't stick! there are 3 rows of 3M tape on the back of mine. I think 3M recommends temps 60 F or 65 F or warmer.

You are not removing any clearcoat. Just the wax you have applied. I am not even sure that is necessary, but I thought it was a safe move. As I posted on my install thread: To get the wax off, I used liquid laundry soap and diluted it with some water, then just washed the middle of the doors and down. It'll take many times of washing and rinsing to see that the wax is really not still there. You will know when the wax is gone as the water will sheet and not bubble when you wet it. The dish soap really strips off the wax efficiently.

Very nice K757... it looks very nice. What plans do you have next? I have seen chrome accents for the mirrors) I believe they just cover the housing; I have also seen chrome handle covers, but that would be a bit over the top for me.

BobI got them from ROC's "5S Dude", his name is Ron. Happy reading! (there are currently 822 posts!) He loves to hear about these sills in particular as they are his only chromed ones to date. For you, you can pretty much get any design you can imagine!

I have seen the mirrors and door handles, but they don't appeal to me though some people like them.

I am happy with the looks of my truck now. My next thing will likely be an air intake and/or a little throatier exhaust.

Thanks...Maybe :) He couldn't wait to see my photos when I ordered. He also has seen my tips page and thanked me for the input.

I know I have directed an untold number of people his way with both chrome and black moldings. They really are top quality and "DO" work. I have swung my Civic door open and hit the molding. they work!

I have the 07' Dark Cherry Pearl myself.
I am on a chrome quest and have spent hours searching for the stuff I really want. (I'm just getting ready to add chrome mods...none just yet..my ridge just got to me on 12-1-06)
I did one mod a couple days ago...changed to a flow master exhaust...added a bit of extra oommpphh to the sound when she's idling and taking off/slowing down)
I originally found this site because I was looking for CUSTOM CHROME DOOR SILLS but sadly I have not found any here. So when I saw your post looking for chrome body protectors, I thought wow,I have to get those too! I'll be waiting for anyone with info. on these 2 items.

I have Westin, but there are plenty of other choices. Take a look around to get the style you like.

Also make sure to look at the door sills thread. Of course, I have mine chromed.

Here's the pics I promised.

So here we are with a BEFORE shot:

http://www.digital-aura.ca/Misc/Before.jpg

After giving her a good wash (hey, it was good considering it's -10 Celsius outside!!) I brought her into the back warehouse where I could work in a heated environment. I let her warm up for several hours first.

Luckily my buddy showed up and decided to help me out, cuz once I got goin' I realized it was a two man job. DON'T ATTEMPT TO DO THIS ALONE. I own an industrial / safety supply store so at my disposal was a handy laser level which made life much easier...

http://www.digital-aura.ca/Misc/Measureitup.jpg

The space between the two parallel concave indents in the Ridgeline is 3-1/2" and the chrome molding was 2" wide. That means you want to stick the molding 3/4" above and below these two indents.

http://www.digital-aura.ca/Misc/3quartersofaninch.jpg

We took extra precautions and used the green line-up tape to run along the bottom of the first indent where our laser line was before dropping the laser down 3/4" from there to where the top of the chrome molding would need to be affixed. (The indent is tough to really see because it's a rounded edge and not so well defined in even the best of lighting conditions).

http://www.digital-aura.ca/Misc/Tapedup.jpg

Always start in the middle of the truck and work out towards the tires. This is where two people are needed...one to stick the chrome on the laser line and the other to ensure the rest of the molding doesn't get away on him and keeping the 3M tape on the back of the chrome away from the truck until he's good and ready to 'commit'.
