Back up sensors questions

Decided for now not to get the backup sensors on my new ride. One reason I wanted them is bacause it's a little hard to see out the back and I was wondering if backing out a diagonal space if they have range enough to tell if another car is coming or not? Also, where does the on/off switch for the sensors go?

The sensors really don't start to alert you untill you are within a few feet of an object, so if it is a moving car coming at you while you were backing out I don't think there would be enough time to react, but then again they would be able to see you starting to back out. As far as the switch it goes on the lower dash panel to the right of the steering column by you right knee.

Ditto Rossi's post. I'd say an object would need to be within 3 ft. before setting off the sensors. A rear view camera might give you more range. I feel the sensors are good for detecting objects that are behind you while you reverse slowly.

Thanks. So they have to make a cut a new spot for the switch? Heck, that would be a perfect thing to fill in that middle spot between the seat warmer switches.

That might be a possibility, I can't remember if the size of the switch will fit and if the wire harness will reach that far over.

I went with a different system made by Bullydog. It's audio only and is powered by the reverse lights, so it only comes on when in reverse. No switch at all. I thought about adding a switch for reserving with a trailer, but I haven't yet. I'd say the range is closer to 6ft, but it still will not alert you if a car is coming.
