I bought my extender about a month ago. Yesterday finally decided to install it. After reading the installation instruction and checking contents of the box, I realized I am missing the template for the holes in the tailgate. Is there anybody who has it and willing to make a copy of the template and either fax or mail it to me? Or if you used it already, perhaps, I could get the original?

I don't think that the template is necessary. Give me a few minutes, I'll run out to my garage and take some pictures of where the snaps go. That should be good enough for you to get yours in.

Here you go. The driver's side snap goes right up into the corner, just enough space left to get the strap to snap onto it (its tough to get the strap on and off actually). The passenger's side snap goes exactly in the middle of the rounded corner. HTH

No problem, glad I could help.

I have found that it is a little easier to snap and unsnap the straps if I slightly lift up on the tailgate, releasing the tension from the strap. Just an idea...
What, is it really that tight?

That's a good tip, thanks!
The straps are tight, but not so much that they can't be snapped and removed with the tailgate down. I've noticed it getting harder to unsnap them as the snaps get a bit dirty and pick up some corrosion with age.

Leave a little slack. As the straps age, they will shrink. I dont have the item, but I would like to know if the snaps are stainless steel? If not they will rust.
