: A Kindness worth mentioning
Long Gone 06-07-2005, 07:55 PM I want to thank Mr. & Mrs.shovelhd for being such loving people. I mentioned a while back on a thread about a charity race my son was involved in at his karting club and shovelhd and his Mrs. sent a donation to help out the Toys for Tots campaign we are sponsoring. It never ceases to amaze me that even here, on the wires of technology, emerges the most wondrous people. You are truly blessed with kindness and I thank you on behalf of the kids who will benefit from this gift.
Thanks C & M
www.ckra.org is the website for the club my son races in. We do not have a link to the charity race event on the site yet but the date has been set for August 14th.
shovelhd 06-07-2005, 08:35 PM If anyone else appreciates what LadyRidge does around here, PM her for details on how you can sponsor her kart. It's for a good cause.

I am truly humbled and filled with emotion by this site and those of you who have become my "extended" family.
There are times throughout the day, nearly everyday, that I refer to one if not all of you in conversation.
So...when's the Family Picnic?? :D
Ultra-HOG 06-08-2005, 06:43 AM You brought it up, now you are in charge! LETS DO IT! East coast get together? Remember? Now is the time.
Here we go, again... more ... :)
... Quaker Steak and Lube (www.thelube.com (http://www.thelube.com/)) in Cranberry Township, just North of Pittsburgh, not far from the PA/Ohio line near I-80. They are a fabulous restaurant with an automotive theme. Check their web site - it would be a lot of fun. There is one scheduled for here in Central PA but not until next year. There is a very nice large outlet mall close by so it could be a nice day out. I will be happy to contribute to organizing whatever happens.[/QUOTE]

I'm game. I like your idea. Take it away and set up some possible dates. You would be much better at this right now than I would as I am chairwoman of the Charity event at the Kart track and I have my hands full. Do you mind U-H??
Ultra-HOG 06-08-2005, 07:12 AM OK Ladyridge, I will do what I can. Since you are so involved with this ROC site and I am sure that there are a lot of members that would like to meet you in person, please send me a list of dates that will work for you. I will start there. How about bringing the kart? How about ROC as a sponsor? Maybe we could meet at a race and picnic and party after the race? At this point, all options are open - except that you have to be there, even if we have to come to you!

I am speechless.
The Charity event is August 14th. If those interested in a get-together with us, maybe we could meet there. The itinerary for the event is 6 local tv/radio celebs will be driving our karts in a race for Toys For Tots. We are expecting a lot of media and WOW what an idea. We can show off our Ridgelines and promote the the ROC!!!! Hey HONDA...would YOU like to get involved?? I know that Honda gets involved with "Clean Up America". Why not jump in with the top supporters of your newest RE-invention and support Toys For Tots!!
OMG the ideas are flyin'!!!! I'll never get any work done now!!!! :D
Oh U-H...we will be at Beaver Run in Wampum,PA June 26th if the men folk in my family get back from their fishing trip to Canada in time. Maybe there!!??

Ultra-HOG 06-08-2005, 08:40 AM Ladyridge,
I only had a few minutes to check dates and places but the June 26th sounds great for an informal meet. The Grove City Outlets and Quaker Steak and Lube are reasonably close. I would really like to concentrate on the August 14th date and try to help with the Toys For Tots event - but only if you do not think that it will interfere with or distract you from your main mission with the event and the race. I will have more time later today and tonight to work more on this. How about getting Honda to sponsor prizes? At the very least, we should all get Ridgeline hats and ROC window stickers.

Maybe H & A would like to sponsor us with the Ridgeline Hats. How about it Trevor?? :D
It is good to hear of kind people in the world we live in.
Ultra-HOG 06-10-2005, 05:39 PM Ladyridge and others,
I am working on a plan for the June 26th meet. I looked at mapquest and it appears that the Grove City Outlets (http://www.primeoutlets.com/cntrdefault.asp?cntrid=1024), 1911 Leesburg Grove City Road, Mercer, PA 16137
and
BeaverRun MotorSports Complex, (http://www.beaverunkarting.com/), 201 Penndale Road, Wampum, PA 16157 are 37 Miles / 49 Minutes away from each other.
It is also only 35 miles / 33 minutes from the Grove City Outlets to Quaker Steak and Lube (http://www.lubewings.com/default.asp?fldLocation=cranberry) 1298 Freedom Road, Cranberry Twp, PA 15247.
I suggest that we informally meet at the Grove City Outlets in the early afternoon and spend a few hours there. That will allow for various arrival times. We can plan the details later. There is a large parking lot in the rear that we can use as a gathering place. There are a number of places to get lunch nearby and inside the food court as well. There are even stores there that guys can tolerate like, Sony, Black & Decker, Timberland, and Eddie Bauer. Actually, it is a very nice outlet mall. Later, we can then either go to the kart Races at BeaveRun or goto Quaker Steak & Lube for dinned and a good time. It all depends on timing and whatever you suggest will work best for you and everyone else. There may be other things in the area to do that I just don't know about yet.
Consider that the 26th is a Sunday so we do not want to plan a late night event for those that need to travel home and work the next day. I think we can put together a nice day out and a nice road trip in our Ridgelines.
For those that are not familiar with the area, Grove City (actually Mercer, PA) is close to the intersection of I-80 and I79, North of Pittsburgh. It is very close to the Ohio / Pennsylvania line. I live in the dead center of Pennsylvania. We are 158 miles / 2.5 hours away. We have made many day trips to those outlets over the past several years. It is an easy ride. Sometimes we take the bike if the weather is decent. If you draw a circle 160 miles in diameter from Grove City, you cover a lot of area and a lot of population. What do you think? We should be able to get a few hundred ROC members to meet, right? Well, maybe that many next year. This year, it doesn't matter. I'm going!
If all that , or whatever you suggest, sounds like a plan, I will start a new thread and see if we can get some traction for the meet. I have a few additional ideas to make the meet interesting and fun that I will add later. Maybe Ridgeline Hats and ROC window stickers for those that attend. If Honda does not want to step up to help with this free marketing event, I have another friend that has a screen printing and embroidery business, we can make our own hats or shirts if we need to!
In addition to the June 26th meet, I would really like to concentrate on the August 14th date and try to help with the Toys For Tots event - but only if you do not think that it will interfere with or distract you from your main mission with the event and the race. If you think it's ok, then I will need some details such as times and maybe a few suggestions for additional places to go and things to do in the area. I will work on putting together a plan from there.
If there are any other members that can help out, PLEASE DO!
Nicholas 06-10-2005, 07:31 PM Ultra-Hog and Ladyridge, don't know what if anything I can do to help but if you guys can think of anything...please let me know and I'll try to help...And yes, would be interested in seeing you on Sunday, June 26th. If just to watch your son racing and meeting both of you and your better halves!!! Nick ;)
Long Gone 06-10-2005, 07:53 PM Sounds great to me U-H and Nick. I can't wait. I hope others who read this will be able to join us.
I would LOVE to have a group of as many as can come to the August 14th Toys for Tots charity event. Our karting club would welcome you with open arms. We are very much a family like we are here. Always willing to help each other out.
I look forward to the 26th more now than ever.
I made my own rendition of the Ridgeline Owners Club.com logo and turned into a car magnet that I proudly display on the tailgate. Not to step on any toes, but to show my pride in this site and spread the word. I am shipping a magnet to Nick and if you U-H or anyone else would like one, please let me know. NO CHARGE. I will however accept donations in the name of C.K.R.A. -Race for Toys for Tots which I will gladly pass on in full in your name. I also have window static stickers and key chains as well. I typically sell the magnets for $10, the statics for $5 and keychains for $4 but I will accept any amount you can send or nothing if you can't. ALL PROCEEDS GO TO THE CHARITY RACE. This is exclusive to my friends here on the ROC.
Keep me posted. :)

Ultra-HOG 06-10-2005, 08:50 PM Ladyridge,
What is your schedule like on the 26th? You mentioned something bout you better (other?) ;) half returning from a fishing trip in time. Are you only available in the evening? If you are available all day, should we make the Quaker Steak & Lube the meeting place for an early afternoon lunch, then to the outlets or directly to the race?
Nicholas (and others), please jump in with your thoughts and ideas too. I certainly welcome the input and help.
We can have some fun with this...

U-H,
I'm not exactly sure what the race schedule is. The guys come home from fishing the day before and then we will head for Beaver Run. I don't know if we are pitching a tent the night before or what. I will check the schedule for the race and create a tentative itinerary from there. If you can plan something that works for everyone else, don't work around me. I'll slip out and find you guys one way or the other. :)
Long Gone 06-10-2005, 09:21 PM The key chain!! :D
Long Gone 07-01-2005, 02:55 PM Another ROC member, I suspect, sent a very generous donation for the Charity Race and I got it today in the mail. The name of the donator was on the check but of course I won't post that here. If you wish to remain anonymous, you're wish is my command. If not, let me know who you are at bucksgirl@ameritech.net so I can give you the honorable mention you deserve.
J.C. :)
