Sidesteps vs Running Boards

Hi all,

I am looking at a purchase soon and would like some input from those with experience. What are the pros or cons of side steps vs running boards. I know both are aluminum (factory) and they both slightly reduce ground clearance on the sides.

Also, what are you thoughts on the factory roof rack, back up camera, and bed extender (does it restrict opening trunk?)
