Since I had the Homelink unit replace I have not had the occasion to try the voice command system . Well,,,, you guessed it. All I get is "pardon, please repeat, etc". The unit worked fine before they touched it. I have got to find another service center as it seems like everything they attempt to repair breaks something else , if they can even fix the origional problem.. I went into the diagnostic menu and the sub menu and it appears that the mic is not even recognized as the box to set the level is greyed out and won't let me do anything.
I am so sick of the service dept and poor response from American Honda that they are no wonder falling behind Toyota, and worse yet, possibly GM and Ford at his rate.
If they would just give me the part I would fix it myself and not have to lose days between lookin at it , ordering the part, and finally several trips to attempt to repair it. I have had the unit out to install the auto dim mirror and can't believe that it is so hard to do that they need the truck for days to install the part that just snaps into place . The only tools required are a phillips head screwdriver and a putty knife to get the light lenses out....... :(

Chances are that one of the two plug connectors may be loose. This is another reason why more members are performing minor service on their own RL's...even under warranty.

Thanks. I just had the unit out and the plugs are ok. I was thinking of taking the one from the 05 accord and trying it in the Ridgeline....

It's been my experience that dealer's service departments break more stuff than they fix. That's why I will usually fix the minor or even semi-major stuff myself. At least I know it's fixed right when I'm done fixing it.
Years ago I bought a new K1200LTC, the top of the line motorcycle that BMW made at the time. Very nice but not the most reliable bike made. I had a number of issues and the dealer and I came to an agreement that they would supply the parts and I would install them. Good for them and good for me because I have never trusted anyone to work on my bikes. The one time I let the dealer do a repair because the bike needed to be taken all apart, I got it back and a week later it burned to the ground and nearly killed me 100 miles from home:eek: . And of course both the dealer and BMW declined to take any responsibility for the incident:confused: . That ended me letting dealers touch my vehicles and me ever considering owning anything made by BMW.

Was your bike one of the few models that BMW mfd that needed to be re-programmed every time the battery went dead? My buddy had one and it was a nightmare every time spring came around and the bike wouldn't start.

Not the first horror story I have heard about dealer service techs... Terrible , but true.
I swapped the Homelink units between my Accord and Ridge. GUESS WHAT, just as I had thought after troubleshooting. The Homelink unit mic was the issue, OR the wrong unit was REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY A LITTLE BIT AGO....
Now, I only wish that when I go to the service tech tomorrow with both units in hand and SHOW them the problem, how long will they need to keep the truck and have me come back for this issue AGAIN???? I really am hating service techs more each time I have to get warranty work! When I buy the vehicles they beat you up trying to shove an extended warranty down your throat, ROFLMAO.
I will bet that all the dealer and reps here won't offer to do anything different than what is gonna happen tomorrow.... I wonder if Hynduai or Yugo has better warranties, they cost alot less.
Rant over: I really dread tomorrow as I feel like I am holding up a bank hust to get what I paid for......
Maybe Shootindownthestars has some ideas on this.................

Latest update.........
I just did the research on the College Hills Honda parts lookup sheet and compared that to the repair invoice. IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT COLLEGE HILLS WAS NOT THE SERVICE TECH. Yes, my dealer tech ordered and installed the unit for a NON-NAVI unit..... I guess that explains why the mic input was not working!!!
Only took 3 trips to the dealer to get the wrong one installed, must be getting more efficent!!!!
I never used the voice feature after they installed the replacement module due to garage door issues, until yesterday when I found it did not work.....
More tomorrow, hopefully good news!!!!!

Went to the dealer on Monday and ran thru the scenerio and showed them the receipt for the work which proved that they installed the wrong part. Finally got them to order the right patr after they told me that my VIN did NOT reflect the Navi as factory installed... I showed them the origional window sticker (Sunroof/navi) and informed them that if you pull up the interior light it shows a breakout for the Navi system, which they did not bother to look at when they ordered.
Finally got them to order the right part and over night it . Went by on Tueday and had to convince them to give me the part so I could install it as I had the unit in front of us on the counter. After finally getting the ok to give the part to me I installed it and gave them the old part. The guy asked me if I had the origional box that the old part came in.... How could I as they installed it in the first place???
The good news is that the voice part works great and the garage door opener part of the unit actually opens the door from quite a distance now(which was the problem that was to be addressed with the first one).......
