ok so i have to head units hooked up. one a jvc deck with ipod interface and no noise. next i have a plye flip out screen with a portable dvd player hooked up through rca aux in. i get alt noise from this. the portable is powered thru the cig lighter. i used to run my ipod thru the pyle thru the aux in but got alt noise whenever the dvd player was hooked up as well. any suggestions? i do have an rca noise filter but it doesn't do anything. would a ground loop isolator help. i know the pyle is a POS but it was free.

I would first verify your ground before going with the GLI.

I agree, try a more solid ground. You might find a good flat surface to use as the ground and make sure and use sandpaper to remove any finish or anything off of the metal. Make sure you are grounding to straight metal. Good Luck....many times, eliminating engine noise is trial and error.

To eliminate/reduce ground loops, you need to ground all parts of the sound system to the same point. If I read your post correctly, it looks like you have narrowed the problem down to the DVD player. Get power and ground from the same source as your other deck. See if that helps any.

the dvd player is portable thus plugged into the 12v cig outlet. i have the head units spliced together thru the aftermarket harness into the factory harness. i've never grounded a head unit to metal, just amps. head units have always used the factory harness to ground.
