JuiceGoose 02-15-2007, 07:52 AM Guys i picked up my truck yesterday and the hitch was installed but the actual hitch attachment(where the ball goes) was sitting in the trunk without a ball on it. And it only had a standard pin it didn't have the locking pin like the website shows. Did your guys come with a ball and locking pin or not. I also had an extra wire connection back there just not sure.

My dad had to fight to get the ball included. I don't know about the pin.
I am getting mine tomorrow so we will see what I can get. Good thing you posted, gave me a heads up on the pin...

You got what I got. I think thats it. The locking pin is optional and because there are many different size balls they don't know which one you would need so you have to purchase that extra.
Truckin' 02-15-2007, 11:03 AM We bought our locking pin separately. It did not come with the tow package.
Chromehead 02-15-2007, 11:31 AM I picked up my RTX last night, and in the trunk was the towing acc. with the ball mount (no ball), pin and clip, rubber "H" cover, as well as the extra wires which is to hook up power assisted brakes on a trailer.
Appears this is what is included with the tow package.
I already have a ball mount, ball, and locking pin, so it was not a big deal.
fredkerr 02-15-2007, 12:12 PM I got a ball with mine, but I think salesman was just being nice.
JuiceGoose 02-15-2007, 12:26 PM well the website states that accessories might be different and the tech manual does show exactly what i got so i guess thems the brakes.
3yrRidge 02-15-2007, 12:56 PM It all depends on what you ordered. The "towing package" includes the locking pin and either a 1 7/8" or a 2" ball. But if you ordered the hitch and hitch harness, then neither the ball nor the locking pin are included.
RTX comes standard with the hitch and harness, the locking pin and ball are extra.
Check to see what it is you ordered vs. what you received and what you were charged for.
IFLY Ridge 02-15-2007, 05:45 PM I just went through this debate when I picked up my 07 RTL and having the dealer install the Honda tow pack. Bottom line, it depends on how the dealership orders the tow package. It can be ordered with or without the ball and pin. They ended up giving me the locking pin. I got such a skinny deal anyway, I decided to buy the ball to let them off the hook.
Guess it all depends on how you negotiate the deal on the tow package.
Good luck. :)
LitRidge 02-15-2007, 07:30 PM I am on my second RL in ten months. My '06 RTL came with a two inch ball, a locking receiver pin and a standard non-locking pin. My second RTL is an '07 (the '06 was wrecked). It too came with a 2" ball, a locking receiver pin, and a standard non-locking pin. In both cases, and two different dealers (about 40 miles apart), I had specified the tow hitch and wiring harness as one of the options to be dealer installed. I don't know what I was charged for these since I based negotiations on a bundled number rather than pricing separately.
RamzeyRTX 02-15-2007, 07:38 PM Mine came with what yours did, no locking pin or ball.

Ditto! I got the whole 9 as I wanted to just get it and be done. Also depends on where you are at and the dealer as some include this and that; regardless you pay for it all though.

From that information, it says Towing Package includes, so it would be safe to say these items are included within the package itself. Ill see what they say tonight when I get it installed...
bobpres 02-16-2007, 01:32 PM When I had my Towing Package installed by my dealer, it didn't come with the ball. I questioned this since it was listed on the Hondaparts.com website as coming with either the 1 7/8" or 2" ball. They finally agreed that it should have come with it and provided me the ball. The thought by the Service Manager was that, since there is a choice, they leave it to the dealership to order it separately for the buyer. The locking pin was an additional accessory and not part of the Towing package. I purchased it elsewhere.
I would suggest you bring in a print out from the Honda website (or show them in the Accessories booklet on the dealer showroom floor) and make sure you get it without paying extra.
Good luck!!
Joeyo 02-16-2007, 02:12 PM I ordered the Trailer hitch at H&A Accessories... and it came as stated on their web page.
So did you get the Trailer Hitch or the Towing package... I thik they are different.
Here is what the Trailer hitch comes with...

3yrRidge 02-16-2007, 06:32 PM Just to clarify, the TOWING PACKAGE includes the locking hitch pin and either a 1 7/8" or 2" ball. The dealer orders these from Honda as a complete package, MSRP is $545.00. If the dealer orders a hitch, it has a part number and is MSRP $325.00, and the harness is another part number and is MSRP $169.00. It all depends on how the dealer orders it.
Jay Cee 02-16-2007, 06:50 PM That's the nice thing about the RTX. Although it doesn't have all the other options at least it has the hitch and wiring harness as standard equipment.
djeaux 02-16-2007, 06:53 PM My RTX came from the factory with no ball & no locking pin. It did include the brake controller pigtail.
Jay Cee 02-16-2007, 07:21 PM My RTX came from the factory with no ball & no locking pin. It did include the brake controller pigtail.
My RTX did come with a locking pin and hitch but no ball. The 1 7/8 or 2 inch balls would have been to small anyway for towing my boat.
Leonard Dinel 02-17-2007, 08:05 AM mine came with the locking pin
clions72 02-17-2007, 01:13 PM Mine came with everything but the ball, but i was warned about that when i was buying the car, i had oen already anyway from my other vehicle
zinger084 02-18-2007, 08:29 PM Mine came with everything but the ball.
