Honda Music Link

Well I just got done installing the Honda Music Link in the Ridgeline. While many have complained about it, I'm not all that disappointed. But I did have the benefit of knowing what I was getting after reading everyone’s complaints so no surprises for me. The system does allows me to play my Ipod through the vehicle’s sound system without having a couple of wires plugged into the dash. It also allows me to use the steering wheel controls to go back and forth between songs, which is all I really wanted to do anyway. Sure it would be nice to have all the Ipod info on the nav screen but for $180.00 I’m not going to complain, or complain all that much. Well, having said that, my only real complaint is that crappy mechanical voice that you must use to find things on the Ipod. I would have thought that Honda with all its knowhow could have made Mechanical Mary sound a little better than she does. Does anyone have an idea how to improve the voice’s sound? Maybe some program that can be downloaded? I love the way the Navigation system sounds when it is talking to you. Why didn’t Honda figure out some way to use that voice program for the Music Link????:(

After playing with the Music Link and changing some of the settings I have improved the mechanical voice a bit. Using the instructions that can be printed up from the supplied Music Link disk I found if you slow the voice down just a bit and change the voice from Microsoft Mary to Microsoft Mike it sounds a little better and is easier to understand. So far the Music Link works just as describe and so far I like it.:)

You so far are the only person I've seen not complain about the Music Link. Not just here, but with the "new" Civics as well.

Glad it worked out well for you though :)

There's a new TSB issued by Honda yesterday about problems with the Music Link. It's too big to post here... maybe someone will find a way to distribute it.

The number is 07-011 or 012 if memory serves. I didn't read it... just glanced at it.
