ONDLINKS 02-18-2007, 11:52 AM A Spring Meet is in the works for Bedford County, Pa. That would be about half-way between Harrisburg and Pittsburg just off the Pa. Turnpike.
The dates being discussed are the weekends of April 21,28 or May 5. Post here if you have interest, along with your date preference. A poll can be started if enough people would like to attend.
There are some nice attractions like a covered bridge tour and a railroaders museum. It's a good 4+ hour drive for my wife and I, so we'll be spending Sat. nite there. Below are some links to the area with info on attractions and lodging.

kdogofjtown 02-18-2007, 12:19 PM My wife an I would be interested. We live in Cambria county just north of bedford - about an hour drive for us. I do not have my work schedule for those months but I would have to work around the weekend call schedule.
Kellcut 02-18-2007, 12:19 PM May 5th would be a possibility as we're going to be in PA that week.
Other than that, not doable for us. we would only be a "possibility" anyway.
davisn456 02-27-2007, 11:08 AM Being a big railroad fan, I've always wanted to see Horseshoe curve. I haven't been to Altoona, but I would assume that there are plenty of places to stay. That's about 4.5 hours drive for me, which wouldn't be bad at all. If this looks like it's a possibility, count me in!
ONDLINKS 03-01-2007, 06:38 PM Ok, sorry for taking so long responding to this. Looks like this meet is going to take place. There are about 7 RL owners who have commited and would like to invite all of you to participate.
A final date has not been set from the dates mentioned so let me know what works for you.
A dinner party is being planned for the meet, along with the attractions, this should be a great way to meet other RL enthusiast's.
Calling all Cape May alumni....:)
mdwalls 03-02-2007, 03:51 AM OK, As a Cape May alum, how could I say no. Count me in. How about you Pizza Man ?
kdogofjtown 03-02-2007, 05:34 PM Work schedule still not firmed up. Schedule on the table (which is likely to go thru) would let me get to any of the dates. Looks like my wife and I are in!
ONDLINKS 03-02-2007, 05:53 PM Great news mdwalls and K-town,
Looks like the date is leaning towards May 5th and should be firmed up in a couple days. I will post more detailed info as well.
We're closing in on 10 trucks and hope to see that number increase.
mdwalls, Joe will be there :)
Would be interested except the 21 April date. Blue White weekend at PENN STATE.
ONDLINKS 03-07-2007, 01:38 PM The date of the meet will be on saturday, May 5th.
We'll meet up at the railroad museum on saturday (time to be determined) and then on to the covered bridge tour for those who would like.
A place to stay and resturant are being searched out for anyone who would like stay overnite and join us for dinner.
I will post more detailed info as it comes available.
Hope to see you there!!
63Tbird 03-14-2007, 04:40 PM Ondlinks, Count on us being there. I'll watch for details.
ONDLINKS 03-17-2007, 07:12 AM Ok Tbird, glad your on board. For those attending and would like to spend a nite or two, the Courtyard Marriott in Altoona looks to offer the best for the money, with a great location. A standard rm. for the weekend of May 4-5 goes for $109 per nite. My wife and I, along with some others have already booked rooms for friday and saturday nite. As of today I believe there are about 25 standard rms. available for May 5th and 30+ on the 4th.
This is the link to the Marriott http://marriott.com/hotels/travel/aoocy-courtyard-altoona/
There are plenty of other places to stay if you chose. This link will provide contact info for other places close by. http://www.altoona.net/altoona/doc/hm_hotel.phtml
A dinner party for sat. is in the works and looks like it will be held here http://www.marzonis.com/
Thanks.......

It would be great if you could make it, maybe convoy in with Double-T?
MoosePond 03-23-2007, 06:08 AM Interestingly, the missus just mentioned the other day that we should take a trip to Amish country one of these weekends so this could be a chance to do that as well as meet some other ROCers. Will see if we can free up that weekend. Only about 300 miles from our home in NY to Bedford so that's a very doable day trip if she can get the day off on Friday. Will let you know in the next week or so if we can attend.
MoosePond 03-23-2007, 06:46 AM Well, the missus just reminded me that's the weekend of the Revlon Run/Walk for Women here in Manhattan and we sponsor a team (she's a 7+ year breast cancer survivor) so we won't be able to make it to this meet. Too bad as would have loved to be there, particularly since PizzaMan will also be coming. Maybe next time.
btw, we're planning a "meet and greet" at our place in southwestern VT (just outside of Manchester) for sometime this summer (possibly latter part of July).
JerseyRidge 03-23-2007, 01:48 PM Very nice K-town, yes the meet is on and coming together. I will be posting updated details this weekend. Welcome onboard!

ONDLINKS 03-24-2007, 01:10 PM This is the latest on lodging.
It looks like the Marriott is now only accepting a minimum 2 nite stay for the weekend of May 4-5.
For those looking for a one nite stay, the Ramada Altoona Conference Center has rooms available for $95 per nite.
It looks like the Ramada is within walking distance to the Marriott.
Be careful when booking as there are 2 Ramada's, the Conference Center and the Ramada Inn. The Inn is further away. Here is the link to the Conference Center http://www.ramadainnaltoona.com/hotelhome/

63Tbird 03-27-2007, 03:11 PM Ondlinks, Sorry I've been out of touch for a few days. Away on business. Anyway, thanks for heading this up so far. Looks like it's coming together. Glad to see some repeat attendance.
Shorty, No problem, glad you, Boo and family can make it. Have to keep that perfect attendance record going. :D
alsridge 03-28-2007, 05:21 PM Snake: Hello there, If you are going to the meet in PA, let me know. We can meet at the same spot we did for the Cape May meet. I may leave friday afternoon or Sat Morning. This time, my wife is going. Let me know.
ONDLINKS 03-28-2007, 05:31 PM Glad you and the bride can make it. Hope to see snakepythons, Double-T and mdwalls join us.
I'll be posting exact times and places for the meet in the next few days.
I'm getting a little dizzy ;)
snakepythons 03-28-2007, 07:02 PM Hello Alsridge good to hear from you again, I would love to go but it is too soon for me to let you no for sure, I,m trying to reach out to Double-T to see if he wants to go , he did no respond yet, If I go I will be leaving Saturday morning, gettin off Friday is out of the question. Are you staying overnight? let me no, I will get in touch with you to let you no as soon as I no for sure.
alsridge 03-30-2007, 09:38 AM Would love to see you guys again. I going up, on Friday and going home Sunday.
ONDLINKS 04-02-2007, 06:00 PM Ok, 4 weeks left and still plenty of time to hop on board. There are 15 trucks commited and a few working on it.
This is the schedule thus far:
Friday: 8:00 PM, coctails at the Marriott Courtyard. Due to varying arrival times dinner arrangements are not planned leaving you to eat at any of the local restaurants you choose.
Saturday: 11:00 AM, Horseshoe Curve for the Meet. I feel 11:00 is late enough for our Saturday arrivals to attend without much stress and early enough to get in the Covered Bridge tour afterward. The tour, of course, is optional. Some may opt to drive back into Altoona and tour the Railroaders Museum.
Saturday: 12:30-1:00 PM, End the Meet and begin the Covered Bridge tour or move on to the Railroaders Museum, again individual choice. The Covered Bridge tour includes 8 Covered Bridges and a stop at Gravity Hill. We can end the tour at anytime necessary to prepare for dinner.
Saturday: 5:00 PM, dinner at Marzoni's. More coctails at the Marriott afterward for those interested.
Sunday: departure for those staying overnight Saturday.

Thanks
Stugots 04-04-2007, 11:52 AM Sounds interesting. I'll see what I can do. I've been watching this thread for some time now and I'm thinking I might try to attend. Is there anyone in particular I should notify?
ONDLINKS 04-04-2007, 02:14 PM Hello Stugots,
I hope you can attend. Just post here and you'll be added to the roster.
If your going for the day, just show up at Horseshoe Curve at 11:00 on Sat. We'll be looking for you.
If you would like to join us for dinner, let me know and you'll be added to that as well.
If your looking for a place to stay, the Marriott is now accepting a one or two nite stay. As of now we have 9 rooms booked for the Marriott on friday and Sat. They will give us a group rate for 10 or more rooms. If you book a room at the Marriott, ask for Katie and mention "The Ridgeline group". This wiil give you the group discount of $99 per nite.
Any questions, send me a pm. Hope you can make it!
Stugots 04-04-2007, 02:17 PM Thanks, ONDLINKS. I'll do my best. Any help you can give me to persuade the wife will be appreciated. ;)
ONDLINKS 04-04-2007, 02:22 PM This may be why a covered bridge tour has been included, never met a lady who didn't like a covered bridge! ;)
ONDLINKS 04-04-2007, 03:25 PM This is the latest on lodging,
I just got off the phone with Katie at the Marriott. A group rate discount applies for 10 rooms or more. If we can get to the 10th room, our rate would drop from $109 to $99 per nite. After looking at the roster I believe we have 10 rooms booked for the 4th & 5th.
They no longer require a minimum 2 nite stay for the weekend of 5/5. So if anyone who needs a single nite, it would count as a room for the group.
If you have booked your room or would like to, please call Katie at 1-814-312-1800 and mention "Honda Ridgeline", so she can keep track of our group.
Thanks!
Stugots 04-05-2007, 04:45 AM This may be why a covered bridge tour has been included, never met a lady who didn't like a covered bridge! ;)
I'll certainly give that approach a try. Thanks, ONDLINKS.
ONDLINKS 04-09-2007, 06:13 PM Spring is here and we need some more RL owners to join us! There is plenty of room to hop on board. Here are some old and new friends who would love to see you. This is our roster so far.

Will you be joining us for dinner? Spending a nite?
Stugots 04-10-2007, 04:39 AM Yup! Room is booked for the 4th and 5th and I'm always hungry! :o
Is there anything I can do to help?
ONDLINKS 04-10-2007, 04:42 AM You just did! :) I'm late for work, I'll add you to the list when I get home.
Welcome on board!!!
Stugots 04-11-2007, 04:34 AM Thanks for the roster addition, ONDLINKS. From the Cape May Photos Thread is JerseyJim coming as well?
ONDLINKS 04-11-2007, 04:43 AM I believe he said work will interfere for this meet. Maybe next time, as a fall meet is already being discussed, maybe on Long Island, NY......
Stugots 04-11-2007, 12:24 PM Depending on when, Long Island sounds great, but so does a repeat in Cape May. I recently peeked at the "Photos" Thread. Just as long as it's near the water.
ONDLINKS 04-11-2007, 04:51 PM This is the menu that Joe has worked on with Marzoni's Restaurant,
Appetizers
Assorted Bruschetta, double order
Wings, single order
Crab Dip, single order
Entrees
Fettuccine Alfredo Pollo, double order
Veal Parmigiana, single order
Shrimp Scampi, single order
Dessert
Your choice of whats offered on the dessert menu that day.
Remember each order is enough to serve 6-8 people and includes Salad, Bread, Soft Drinks and Coffee. Marzoni's does serve beer, but that will be pay as you go.
I asked for a grilled Vegie Platter, but it is not available.
Based on some preliminary estimates, it looks like we may be able to bring this in at around $28 a head including tax and gratuity.
This may not be the exact menu or price, but will be close.
As was with the Cape May meet, you will be asked to send a check made out to Marzoni's. I'll let you know the final price and where to send it when everything is firmed up. I hope no one minds this arrangement but it worked well at the last meet. Thanks!
Stugots 04-12-2007, 04:34 AM Mmmm, Fettuccini Alfredo with Chicken, a little Pino Grigio, well maybe a lot of Pino, Can't wait.
ONDLINKS 04-12-2007, 04:43 AM Mmmm, Fettuccini Alfredo with Chicken, a little Pino Grigio, well maybe a lot of Pino, Can't wait.

What? No Eggplant Parmigiana? ;) Sounds yummy and sorry that we can't be there to enjoy it but our annual FABOOBS! team participation in the Revlon Run/Walk for Women is something that we'll be committed to as long as we're still able to walk/hobble the 5K. Have a great event and perhaps we'll see some of you at either the Newport or Long Island meets.
MoosePond 04-12-2007, 08:25 AM I can't wait for spring to arrive!
Yeah, me either! We had 3" of fresh snow in Vermont last Sunday morning (on top of the 12-15" that was remaining on the ground) and now it's raining cats and dogs here in metro NY. Guess it's the proverbial April showers that will bring us May flowers - but it's pretty dismal out today and sure would appreciate some sunshine and warmer weather.
mdwalls 04-12-2007, 09:11 AM I can now confirm that my wife and I will be there. Just made reservations at the Marriott for Friday and Saturday. Look forward to seeing everybody.
Stugots 04-12-2007, 09:14 AM Way cool, MDWalls. Looks like there's going to be a nice crowd. I can't wait to meet everyone.
Stugots 04-12-2007, 09:21 AM What? No Eggplant Parmigiana? ;)

ONDLINKS tells me it's not too late for more to sign on.
alsridge 04-13-2007, 09:34 AM MDwall: Your wife better go, because theres going to be a lot of them. LOLOL.
Tell your wife that the group of guys and ladies (wifes or girlfriends) are great people. I was at the Cape May meet and it was great. My son, who is 19 was there and had a great too. Wife was in Florida, but is coming to this one.
It's to late to sign in. Just tell ONDLINK.
Long Island, N.Y. is in the pre planing stage.

Oh sorry, you may not be that old. ;)
I am trying to come up & everything looks good for the trip now.
I won't get in untill early Sat but plan to spend the day & stay overnight.
I have been to 5 meets with my ACURA over the years some small & some real big. They had one hosted by a ACURA Dealership in NJ. About 100+ newer model TL,CL,RSX showed up for that event. We had a nice day at the dealership good food & all. I had been online with some of them for 3yrs & got a chance to meet them. Most came from NJ & Pa some from NY.
A few also came from Va suburbs of Washington DC. Myself from DC & one guy & his wife came from Mass area. I will know for sure early next week & go ahead & reserve my hotel room. I need to put some wax on the Ridgeline before the trip.
ONDLINKS 04-19-2007, 05:16 PM Great FTM1,

I hope you can join us for dinner Saturday nite, let me know when you can.
You'll be truck # 14, damm good if you ask me!!:)

ONDLINKS 04-24-2007, 12:47 PM So glad you can make it davisn456. Yes, I actually thought of this and will be able to bring a set or two (borrowed from work)
We now have 15 trucks and 26-28 for dinner.......Looks like a great time! One more to beat Cape May.;)
Almost forgot to add davisn456 to the roster, it will be done.....
I hpoe I get all my accessories parts on before the trip & the meet.
I am not going to tackle it but a place called Trick Trucks that did my window tint will do it. I could kick myself for not ordering the Hood Deflector from H&A last Sat. I went to the dealer to order it & paid $20 more I picked it up today. Now I am waiting on the other parts to come from H&A that I ordered Sunday. That is the window visors, moonroof visor & storage tray. They should be here by Friday or Monday. I have decided to extend my trip & go on up into NY state to visit my aunt for a few days.

Sounds like you have a nice trip ahead. One of the things I enjoyed with my first Meet was getting to know other RL owners. It's a unique truck and we have a lot in common. I also liked how most of the trucks are a little different in one way or another. It's interesting to see how folks dress out thier trucks.
With that being said the fun is with the people!:)

ONDLINKS 04-29-2007, 01:51 AM This is the latest on lodging,
I just got off the phone with Katie at the Marriott.
Thanks!
I spoke with Katie yesterday and she has 9 rooms identified with our group. If you haven't contacted her, please do, as the discount may be in jeopardy. A voice message will do.
She pointed out their policy for the 10 room discount applied for rooms booked 30 days in advance but she lead me to believe we'll get the discount with our 10 identified rooms.
I plead our case with 9 rooms and she'll call corporate and get back to me monday..........Thanks and see you soon!

Katie still only has 9 rooms on record for our group, but she has agreed to give us the discount.
Yeah Katie! :)
ONDLINKS 05-02-2007, 03:38 AM Ultra-Hog will be printing a booklet of maps and directions to the various destinations that have been discussed for the meet. There will be enough to distribute to everyone. If anyone would like to have something included or added to the booklet just let me know. If it is document that you create, just send me a PM so that I can send it forward. If it is something small or something that you can just send or post a link to, that will be fine too. I will need to have the information by noon on Friday at the latest.
He would like to include your screen name, real name and home town to the booklet. It should make for a nice souvenir.........Thanks.
davisn456 05-02-2007, 06:48 AM Should we send our info for the booklet to Ultrahog via PM?
ONDLINKS 05-03-2007, 02:43 AM Should we send our info for the booklet to Ultrahog via PM?
You can send your info to me and I'll forward it to his work place.
For those coming on saturday, we'll be meeting at Horseshoe Curve at 11:00.
I'll be calling the visitors center today for any further info I can pass on.
It shouldn't be hard to spot a dozen+ RL's in a row. Weather is looking good, so all there's left now, is to do it!
Here is the link to the Curve. http://www.railroadcity.com/hc/index.php
davisn456 05-03-2007, 06:28 AM I may have missed this in the thread, but since we're arriving close to lunch time, has anyone thought about a tailgate picnic at the park? I would assume that they have some picnic tables around.
Stugots 05-03-2007, 08:06 AM I guess most of you guys will be leaving for Altoona on Friday. Have a great Meet, I'll be thinking about it all weekend. I'd appreciate a photo or two when you all return.
ONDLINKS 05-03-2007, 02:57 PM Ok, the meet is upon us and I'd like to thank all who helped this along. Our number count stands at 15, not bad if you ask me.
The meet at Horseshoe Curve remains the same, follow the signs to the Curve. You will have to stop at a gift shop and pay a fee for admission:
$5.00 for the Curve
$8.00 Curve & Railroaders museum. $6.00 Senior (62)
See you all Saturday.......Thanks!

According to Expedia.com the Marriott Courtyard in Middletown (about 3.5 miles north of Newport) has rooms for $215 per night; however, there are quite a few Bed & Breakfast inns in the area and some of them show availability:

Good luck and hope to see you in Newport next weekend.

Work is making it impossible to even think about it. I'm working this weekend and probably every weekend for the next 2 months.
Can not make it on the 19th I am preparing the Ridgeline to make a trip to Tennessee. Iam sure I will see you guys & gals sometime later this year.

Have a safe trip Fred. It was great meeting you, although I'm having belated buyers remorse after seeing your Dark Cherry Pearl beauty.
If it was offered when I bought, it would be sitting in the garage now!
Stay in touch and look for the next meet in the fall.......
Dan
mdwalls 05-12-2007, 04:55 PM Me too Dan, After two red F-150's I went blue, but if that dark cherry had
been an 06, it would have been mine. Bud
