jakemanoo7 02-18-2007, 03:38 PM Seriously.....does anyone believe these scams and buy these stupid products that are flooding eBay and websites a like. I mean if it were as simple putting in an $8 part, don't they realize that Honda would have incorporated these when they engineered the vehicle. I remember the stories of putting a new computer chip in my mustang and how it would make it a hot rod.....even if it were true, it voids the warranty which is never worth any gain in MPG or HP. If you want great MPG, then buy an electric car.....if you want high HP...then by a muscle car. Unless you are a engine specialist (gear head), I recommend leaving your vehicle alone and just enjoy the ride. Millions and millions of dollars have been spent on R&D to get you what you have paid good money for....a great truck.
fredridge 02-18-2007, 04:11 PM Is there a point? Question? or is this just a rant?
BTW- there are lots of products out there that can improve performance or gas mileage. Just because they weren't included OEM doesn't make them false.
P.S. I agree that the ebay $8 chip mod is a scam
CBRidgeJockey 02-18-2007, 05:19 PM I hate all infomercials !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am done now.:D

People are different. I love infomercials, I own a tempurpedic bed and the magic bullet....ohh the magic bullet, what a sweet invention:D
CBRidgeJockey 02-18-2007, 05:25 PM magic bullet sounds like something you order on-line:D and arrives in a plain brown box....ha :D

I don't understand why Honda doesn't fit this (http://www.asseenontv.com/prod-pages/swievel_seat.html) as standard equipment.

Just curious...can you please name me a couple of products out there that have been PROVEN to increase gas milage on an existing vehicle?

I can try and look some up, but there are some general principles that apply.
Increasing gas mileage on a vehicle can be done several ways.
Lightweight internal engine alloys, reducing rotating mass, lightweight rolling mass (Wheels and tires), Higher quality fluids (http://www.royalpurple.com/techrp/ncsu021112.pdf) Switching from carburetor to fuel injection

Reducing weight anywhere can save fuel. Less viscous fluids can also improve fuel economy by reducing drag. Modifying the aerodynamic structure of your vehicle can too. In your previous post you said "lots of products" and I was just curious what they were. I for one have yet to find a bolt on or simple install of any product that will improve fuel efficiency in my truck in its stock form.

I would agree, right now the closest thing would be lightweight alloys, cost to value not really worth it and maybe small mirrors, but who knows and who wants it.
I would agree that overall right now, probably no just simple bolt on parts for the RL. In the future possibly. I was partially responding to some previous posts where people think Honda engineers can do know wrong and if it wasn't oem then it is worthless. Engineers may want it, but manufacturers walk a balance. No one wants or needs everything, that's why Homer Simpsons car was a failure:D
However, when we get our diesels for the RL I may trade mine in and get one and then there may be more "simple" bolt on parts to more power and mpg, Gale Banks will be on my speed dial.:)
hiPSI 02-19-2007, 01:15 PM It would be interesting to see vehicles designed and built solely by groups...
Engineers build one
Scientists build one
Marketing people build one
Sales people build one
Females build one
Males build one
Spanish people build one
African People build one
Canadian People build one
Kids build one
PETA people build one
Democrats build one
Republicians build one
Oil Companies build one
etc
It would be cool if when these different groups build their vehicle it would be their idea of a perfect car. Talk about diversity and different ideas!

Keep it coming:D
P.S. is the "hi" in your name have a double meaning.
Geoff 02-20-2007, 03:57 AM It's my humble opinion that those $8.00 gizmos are simple resistors that bypass the air temp sensor, in effect telling the ECM to enrichen the fuel mixture and SHAzammmm instant horsepower!

Naw, I don't smoke anything, could be the clean mountain air though. You mean to tell me you just read my posts for the entertainment value? Here I thought I actually added a little knowledge to this place. :D
