Has anyone else noticed that after they changed out their stock radio that the passenger airbag off light doesn't stay on when the seat is empty?

Where did you find a radio to fit the hole the stock radio is in? And why change it anyway?

seems strange that the 2 would be linked somehow.. keep up informed, hoefully it's just a loose connector or something..

in our mdx the light only comes on when there is a certain amount of weight on the seat, i'd think honda's setup would be similar

The passenger airbag "off" light is an indicator that the vehicle knows something is on the seat, but doesn't think it is a person.

When driving without a passenger, and no one in the seat, the light will be off. Throw a gym bag or a heavy breifcase on it, and the light will come on. Add a passenger and the light should stay off.

Think of it this way. If there is no weight on the seat, the truck knows it doesn't need to deploy that airbag (minimizes the cost of repairs on your beloved RL after an accident). If there is enough weight for your truck to know something is on the seat, but not enough to "feel" like a person, it knows it doesn't need to deploy that airbag. This keeps the passenger airbags from throwing your seat contents around the cab.

Hmm, see I thought that if the seat doesn't "sense" that I have enough weight for the seat to register as a person, then the off light would remain on.

Also someone asked why I changed the radio- I changed out the radio because I wanted a nav/ dvd/ sirius unit.
