We have several campsite options for this trip. We can do either a Group Camp or go with Individual Campsites. The Group Camp would be alot less expensive than indivdual campsites but only if we have enough of us committed to going. Group Camp is $90 per day but if we have at least 9 people going that breaks down to $10 per day per person.
This is why we need to know ASAP how many of us will want to go on this trip.
There's a Poll on this going on in the EOC forum.
If you're interested in attending please respond to it.

I can assure you that there aren't very many places in the world more impressive
than Humboldt Redwoods. Heck, George Lucas filmed "Return of the Jedi" here.
It's where those cute furry little Ewoks lived. ;)
You will not be disapointed. We guarantee a grand time for all who attend!

We decided on this NorCal camping trip for all of our NorCal members who have had to drive the greatest distances in many of our other trips.
We had you guys in mind when we selected the location.
We're hopeful that the NorCal peeps that have yet to go on any of these camping trips will take advantage of that. You will have a blast!

The date for this trip is the week after Labor Day.
But it's not a randomly selected date and was choosen for the following reasons...

* The park is a lot less crowded after Labor Day as it's the end of summer and families with kids have to be back for school.

* The weather is optimum this time of year with warm days and cool nights.

* You can splurge more on bargains from local vendors, gyspy trinket makers and other merchants looking to unload thier remaining summer stock and inventories.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Unless you already reserved a group site at Williams Grove, they are already booked according to the Reserveamerica site. I put in the dates you showed September 7-13th and it says not available.

Hi Dan,

Here's an Email I recieved this morning from the park.

Hi Gene,

It sounds like you have a fun trip planned! I understand your desire to camp at Albee Creek because it's a wonderful campground. However, with a group your size (20 vehicles) you really need to reserve a group camp.

Williams Grove Group Camp B can accomadate 40 people, and it costs $90/night. You can park at the group camp. Marin Garden Club Group Camp can also accomadate 40 people and costs $90/night. You park at the camp there as well.

Since you are looking to camp after Labor Day, you would need to make reservations directly through the park (through me). Take a look at our web site, which has more info and maps. Email me if you have any questions or if you would like me to send out the reservation paperwork.

According to Ranger Nicole, campsites cannot be reserved after Labor Day through Reserveamerica.
I think that's the reason the dates we've selected show as not being available on the Reserveamerica web site.
I'll send Nicole another Email and get some clarification on this.
Please feel free to dig around on your own with this too Dan.

I'm Ready to Go!
The dates run midweek. Is that correct? I'm a go for a full week!

Hello Miss E! Are any trailers allowed in the "Group Camps"?

PS: I should have a chance to upload PIC's from DV this weekend!

Hi guys! We've had the Poll up for this trip in the EOC for 24 hours and already have 7 Elements and 1 Ridgeline (CDI'ER's) on the roster.

We do hope that you Ridgeliners seriously consider going on this.
Sure it's a long haul (nearly 700 miles from SoCal) and you'll need a week to do it comfortably.
It's six months away but this is a trip well worth doing.
Plus you guys cruise in the lap of luxury in your RL's.
It would be a cake walk for ya'll.

Think about it!

We need a go-to person here in the ROC to rattle some cages and get you guys off your duffs and motivated for this camping trip. It would be so sad if you missed this one. Humboldt is a extrodinary, astonishingly wonderful place. You name it, anything you could possibly want to do can be done there!

Tug-a-boat? You can drop it into the ocean at Shelter Cove and take advantage of the best unused fishing waters anywhere in California. Don't have a boat? For a $125 you can jump in a Charter Boat and take on some of the best fishing anywhere on the West Coast. Pacific Halibut, (30-45 lb average) Rock Fish, King Salmon, Ling Cod and more. Think I'm kidding? Check out the web link and see some of the huge fish that are caught here. Heck, you can even Shore and Rock fish but the biggest fish are out in the waters off shore. http://www.sheltercove-lostcoast.com/sc/

(CDI'ER got the info you're seeking on the EOC thread and looks like you can drop your trailer there)

FYI: According to our Poll numbers in the EOC we now have 14 vehicles on the roster for this trip. One Ridgeline and thirteen Elements. The vehicle roster has practically doubled in only 4 days!

The Group Camp that we'll be staying at allows a maxium of "20" vehicles.
There's no doubt we will reach that number soon and when we do the Group Camp at Williams Grove will be SOLD OUT

So if your interested in attending the Humboldt Redwoods Campout..
there are "six" remaining slots still available.

After those slots are taken anyone still wanting to go will need to book "Individual Campsites" at the Burlington Campground which is also in the park and near to the Group Camp.

There's also an excellent RV Park right near by for anyone towing a trailer that wants full hook ups. "Giant Redwoods RV Camp" http://www.giantredwoodsrvcamp.com/
We've stayed here before too! This is a privately operated park set in a grove of Redwoods.
It covers 23 acres, much of it fronting the Eel River. Heck, this place even has tent sites right on the bank of the river!

Hey Miss Ellie you can put in for it, I live in Humboldt county so I am already here, there are a gazillion crv's and elements up here and there are starting to be a lot of ridgelines too. If you were to advertise your meet in our local papers, I am sure that you could achieve a record turnout of honda owners. You are indeed correct that it is extremeley beautiful up her, many mountains and rivers and redwood trees that are still tremendous. Humboldt Redwoods state park is not the only park here. Google Humboldt county and chech us out. Driving the old 101 Avenue of the Giants from north of Garberville north along the Eel river is a breathtaking drive. A visit to the historic victorian village of Ferndale and it's surrounding dairy and farm land will take you back to what California used to look like. There is little of Humboldt county that is not a sight to see, so to speak.

Hello Dragonslayer!

Sorry I have been a miss in following up on posts regarding this trip.
You're a local! Very kewl.
The only Ridge we got so far is CDI'ER but there's a heap of Elements going.
One of our other ex SoCal buds Mike, is driving all the way from Illinois and Larry (EOC Moderator) is flying in from Long Island, New York to attend.
Larry will pick up a rental in SF. He, Mike and a bunch more of us will be caravaning from SF up the Coast Highway to Humboldt.

We've managed to secure a group camp in the park (Williams Grove) and have all sorts of things planned out for the 7 days we'll be there.
Check out the thread in the EOC and you'll see what I mean.

We have tons of fun activities planned and we're just getting started..
Jetty and river fishing, hiking, biking, BBQ dinners (we got some huge wonderful BBQ Pits in our Group Camp) kayaking, gambling in Trinidad, a big group seafood feast, swimming, beach combing, Banana Slug Hunt, local Farmers Markets for fresh organic camping foods, really big tree hugging and soooo much more!
We also have "Eight", that's right, 8 dogs attending this trip. Holy Moly!
It's like a dang Kennel Club.;)

We'll look forward to seeing you!

I only have to drive 60 miles for this meet, woohoo!! :D Usually I have to drive 350 or more miles one way for a meet. I encourage any and all rl owners to take this wonderful drive, it is a nice, traffic free drive from Santa Rosa north on 101 or Sacramento north on I-5 to 36 or 299 west to 101 and Humboldt county, the biggest problem I can foresee is people getting speeding tickets because they are , well . exceeding the limit. Believe me, I live up here and once you are past Santa Rosa/Sacramento and there is no traffic to keep you in check , you can get carried away and go way too fast, especially on 299 with a speed limit of 70 mph. The trip north from Sacramento to Redding and then to Eureka is fast and the sight of Mount Shasta looming on the horizon from over 150 miles away is very impressive. Then you get to drive 299, WOW, what a drive, a true mountain highway [55mph] , curvy, with climbs to 3000 feet and back down several times, through rugged, gold rush mountains and rivers, it is an amazing 145 mile drive from Redding to 101 on the coast. Either way is a beautiful drive. I have to do one or the other when ever I head south to the Bay Area.

Again I encourage California and Oregon members of all three clubs check this meet out. It is beautiful up here. There is a casino in Trinidad, Blue Lake and Bear River in Eureka, I may have missed one or so.
