RTX is History?

I just got this email for a local Honda store...

-----------------------

Thank you for your inquiry about the 2007 Honda Ridgeline RTX at our Classic Honda dealership. Unfortunately, this vehicle is no longer available. However, we do have similar makes and models at other Holler or Classic Dealerships.

-----------------------

Has anyone heard about this. The "similar makes and models at other Holler or Classic Dealerships" make it sound like the entire Ridgeline Truck just died?

Haven't heard anything like that, the Ridgeline is definitely not dead nor do Ibelieve that Honda is stopping production of the Ridgeline

Could be that they are just out of stock and have a strange way of wording it.

Yeah, happen to know if they just had one RTX on the lot when you inquired about it?

What's the confusion? You asked after a particular 2007 RTX & the dealer replied that the vehicle was no longer available. How does that get morphed into meaning that the Ridgeline or RTX are not manufactured any more?

Unfortunately, this vehicle is no longer available.

Main part of this response is that this vehicle is not available, go to Honda website and build and order the RTX of your choice. RL FOREVER :D :D

Could be they are dropping the RTX version, I really don't see the need of it anyway. If you want more than just the RT, just get the RTS.

For me the RTX made the most sense, as I needed the hitch, but not all the other fancy stuff. For the price of the hitch alone if I had bought it as a factory add on to another model.... I also got cool rims:) , the best grill :D, and color matched/painted door handles.

I think it was just smart marketing on Honda's behalf. I know my dealer had a hell of time getting an RTX for me, and I had to order it, and wait about 1 1/2 months, so they must be selling them. Just like any other vehicle come in various trim levels to suit the buyers needs.

It sounds more like to me, the particular RTX that was inquired about is no longer available (on that specific dealer lot).

Actually no...

I made no inquiry this was a blanket marketing letter just worded to look like I made an inquiry. You know, like those emails that say "your mortgage has been approved"...

Sheesh! Makes me wanna run out and get one o'those RTX's before they're all gone!

Sounds like one of those "big storm/toilet paper scare-tactic" marketing ploys that we've all heard about...

Actually, the RTX was a pretty good marketing move. If it turns out to be one of those "special edition" trims that Honda puts out every now & then, that's cool too! :)

In no way am I doubting that to be the case, but it sure seems counterproductive when you look at recent sales figures...wouldn't they want to have as many as possible out there - especially in the most popular trim line (flame suit on, I can't resist  )?

The RTX is the best value in the line. I got the RTS, but I believe if anyone is looking to get the RT, they should get the RTX instead, $500 more for all of those extras is a pretty good deal. If they get rid of anything it should be the RT.

Hello,
New to the ROC. RTXs are still available, but dealers are limited to just one a month. My co-worker ordered his two weeks ago, it has been shipped via Detroit and now Nashville to Louisville, KY (home of two ailing Ford truck plants - :( ). Anyway they are out there but you got to play the patience game.
