Maybe I spend too much time reading posts on this forum.....so, when my TPMS light came on yesterday I thought the worst...NAIL ?? FAULTY SENSOR....... Right rear passenger tire was down to 30lbs and the rest 33 -34. I topped her up with air and the warning light went out. It actually works..ha :D

Keep an eye on that tire.
Many times if just one tire is low there is a slow leak usually the result of a small screw or nail. No big deal if it's in the tread it can easily be plugged.
If multiple tires are low, it's generally because of a wide temperature fluctuation.
And yes, the TPMS really does work! :)

Mr Walker.....your suspicions were correct. I was washing the truck and always check my tires....FREEEEEEKIN NAIL....

Here is my stupid question. Do I take it back to Honda to repair or can any local tire shop do the job without damage ( scratches ) to my rims.

If you are worried about scratches to wheels, take it to a custom shop that sells very expensive wheels, they tend to be more careful.

Keith's right, any tire place can plug it. My dealer is close to my office, so I had them do it over my lunch one day. I didn't watch them do it, but I have the impression that they didn't need to unmount the tire from the wheel. I've put pro'ly 5000 miles on the tire since it was plugged and it's still solid.

No worries!

FYI...

Most of the time when a shop plugs a tire, they don't need to take the wheel off. I would say about 90% of the repairs at the Honda Dealership I worked at we just left the wheel on the car/truck and plugged it. We had many people come back into the dealership during our cold months here in Wis. When it is really cold out, the low tire presure light come on very easy. They system only alows a couple of drops in PSI, so during the cold month, make sure you keep those tires inflated to the proper PSI. Hope this helps.
