I found this on the ClubTitan website....Looks pretty cool, so I ordered one with their discount code. (NISSANGB) Under $50 shipped to the house.

If anyone else is interested, order the 7/8" adapter.
If anyone already has this item, post your opinions..
Thanks

This looks very nice... any idea how difficult installation of wiring will be? Also, does the kit include additional wiring?

I look forward to seeing pics of your installation. :)

The kit comes complete with many accessories.... Bracket, spacers, cable ties, velco, extension cable, cable coupler, + more....
Installation seems easy, no drilling required... just some wire routing down to the OBDII plug....

I'll post some pics when the install is complete...

Well I receive the mount and I have completed the install this afternoon.

DON'T ORDER THE 7/8" MOUNT..... GET THE SMALLER MOUNT
I had to wrap the mirror arm with electrical tape to make up for the difference.

Otherwise VERY easy! I had to bend the mounting plate slightly for asthetic purposes.

The kit is great. Well packed and they even provide extra screws & velcro.

The extension for the wiring actually is a great idea. If you use the extension, from the unit to the bottom of the dash, then use the provided coupler to attach the original wiring harness.... it allows you to remove the SCANGUAGE unit and the original wiring harness from under the dash. Now you can easily remove the unit for use in another car without having to purchase an additional harness.

I highly recommend this mount and the supplier. The shipping was amazingly fast and the mount works perfectly.

I used the discount code (great saved $18) and your help to put this mod on. I have it all back together and it is working great. It is much nicer to have it mounted above the mirror, than to have it stuck on the IP.

One thing I did not do was try the original cable and see if it would reach from the mirror. I went ahead and just added the mod cable and coupler. Gives you a bundle of cable to tie under the IP. Has anyone put this mod in just using the original cable? I may take it apart at a later time and see if that will work, but for now I think I will leave well enough alone.

Thanks again hwycycle!

Has anybody installed it on the accessory auto day/night mirror? It doesn't seem to have enough clearance above it.

Take a small screwdriver or a pocket knife and pry out the airbag emblem on the A Piller. Do not completly remove it, just pry it out until it stops. Pull out the gromet along the A Piller (it just pulls out and will go back in place). Once you have the gromet pulled out you can pull the A Piller toward back of truck and it will come loose, it is only held in place in two places (the airbag tag is one and the other is about 6 to 8 inches below the airbag tag). Mount the bracket from the kit on the mirror arm(the 3/4 inch kit works perfectly), attach the scanguage II to the bracket, extension cable plugged into the back of the Scanguage II. Take a small screwdriver or tool from the KTC tool set or anything you feel comfortable with and pry the head liner out enough to start pushing the cable under the headliner. Run the cable over to and down the A post and under the IP or Dash. Use the connector that comes with the kit to connect the extension cable and the Scanguage II cable together. Use a couple of the plastic ties to tie the cable under the IP. Then replace the A Piller and push the airbag plastic piece back into place. The door seal gromet is then massaged back into place along the A piller. It was really an easy job, I took my time doing it and it didn't take over an hour to do the job. I got some great advise from the original poster of this addon (hwycycle).

I like having the scanguage II mounted above the mirror and not velcrowed to the IP. I am going to Katy, Tx next week about 480 miles and hope to be able to find the best speed for the best gas mileage with the CC working on the trip. I went down in January before getting the Scanguage II and got 21 at about 70 MPH so maybe I can fine tune it some with the Scanguage II.

If anyone has any questions about the mirror mount instalation I will be happy to try and help, just send email.

I bought one of these before taking my RL back to the dealer for accessory installation, which included an auto d/n mirror. :o Sadly, I discovered that this mirror does NOT leave enough room for the BlendMount/ScanGuage installation and I've had to mount my SGII (with Velcro) on the dash down below the heater controls.

Bottom line, I've got a brand new BlendMount that I can't use that I'm willing to sell to someone who wants one for $30, including Priority Mail. PM me if you're interested.

Thanks for the pics...good description on the install. Unfortunately for me, I installed a different rearview mirror on my RL and the ScanGauge mount does not work.

I think you misunderstood me. I believe you have the same mirror that I do, which is honda OEM accessory auto day/night mirror. As I indicated in my previous post I was able to install BlendMount on this mirror. I will post pictures and description some time this week.

Well...I no longer have the OEM mirror. I went with something like this (http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/forums/showpost.php?p=191915&postcount=13). The way the mirror is mounted will not allow me to add the ScanGauge mount.

I see... I suppose you could mount it below the mirror, but it would block your view.

I'm concerned about running the Scangauge cable down the A pillar, will this affect the function of the side air bag? Should I be concerned?

When I did mine, I could see nothing in the A Pillar that looked like a side air bag or anything else. I don't think it would affect anything. Just my opinion.

A-pillar looks empty inside. I don't believe any airbag comes out directly from a-pillar, but rather above it.

hwycycle,

How do you like your ScanGaugeII, are you finding that you are getting better gas mileage with it's help, that would be my main usage.

At $50.00 it a deal, but when I checked the web page, I found the price of the kit to be $199.00, looks like I will have to hold off for a while.

It would be nice if Honda would activate the Trip Computer thats already built in to the Nav System.

This device has nothing to do with improving gas mileage...that still depends on the habits of the driver. The ScanGaugeII will provide you with more information like real-time mpg which you can use to alter the way you drive.

bongus,

I do understand that it will not save gas for you, it's just a tool that will give you instant MPG reading, to find out if the 5 miles per hour increase in speed is worth the X amount of extra gas consumpition. Just like any good trip computer will do.

Honda should have a trip computer built in, but they do not so this is a work round.

I used the BlendMount in the "Off Label" way. Since the accessory auto day/night mirror is taller then standard, there is not enough clearance above it in order to mount SG II the way installation instruction suggests. So, I had to turn BlendMount upside down and move it slightly in front of the mirror in order to slightly lower it. I also bent the mount a bit in order for the SG II face me in a more convenient way. The kit comes with two studs 1/2" and 3/4". I accidentally broke 1/2", but by mistake requested 3/4" replacement from MGT, which actually helped me to achieve the correct angle for the mount.

Overall I am pretty satisfied with the way my SG II mounted now and I definitely prefer it to the dash mount I had before.

That looks great! I like the above-the-mirror location better. Of course, I don't have a ScanGauge II, so that's basically an academic observation.
