Radio Issue

I have a 2006 Ridgeline RTL and wanted to know if anyone has static issues with the FM/AM radio? That is my only issue w/my Ridgeline.

If the problem is only on AM there is a known issue. There's not a TSB on the problem, but if your dealer calls the Honda Tech-Line they can let them know about the fix. It's a replacement wire harness.

No FM issues that I know of.

Ok now theres a question I was going to ask. You know my AM works fine, but my FM stations seem very static. Usually its the other way around. Is some FM booster for the antenna?

A few times I was trying to listen to my FM stations, they had pretty bed static as well.

If the existing harness is bad/loose enough it will affect FM too, hit up yer dealer.


btw does anyone know the part## of the new harness?

The RL has an antenna amplifier to help compensate for the pathetic OEM antenna. Interestingly enough I have static/crackle on AM with my Alpine HU but not on FM. The noise occurs on rough roads which implies an erratic connection. The FM reception is terrible too.

I plan to install an aftermarket stubby antenna on the roof someday and skip the OEM unit entirely.

Finally got the harness replaced after waiting about one year. Installing the new harness was an extensive operation. My Ridgeline was tied up for three days in the shop. It did correct the problem. I really had to put pressure on my dealer and Honda to do the fix.
