Accessory Longevity Question:

Hello all. Prospective buyer here. I have been looking at several sport utilities and also the Ridgeline. I have my heart set on a Nimbus Gray RTS 2007 with the following accessories:

window visors
Hood air deflector
black side steps
front grille (like the RTX.. that thing is bad arse)
Fender Flares
Side Protectors
roof rack
front brush gaurd
Tow package
Fog lights
XM radio
Honda link

My question is this: Are the fender flares and the side protectors adhesive only? and if so what are the longevity of them? The reason I ask is my wife had a VW with factory installed adhesive only side protecting strips like that and we had to replace them about every ten months because the glue was losing it's grip and they would hang from the car. I don't want a repeat of that but I DO like how they look. It makes for an aggressive more "truck like" appearance.

I was thinking of the RTL.. but I just don't think I need leather seats and a moon roof..... and since I am a guy I obviously have NO need for a navigation system... :D

RLHopeful, can't really answer your question about the adhesive issues, but it seems to me that based on your shopping list that the RTX would be the best base model for you to start with so that you could shorten your accessory list. IMO :cool:

I really thought about that.. but I do like the wheels.... and the power seats... and lumbar support... Hey I am old! (37)...

This will be carrying me down the highway to work and grabbing groceries 90% of the time, I need to be comfy.

**EDIT** I also forgot... I want the Nimbus Gray as I LOVE the gray with black accents........ and it isn't available in the RTX... :(

window visors - Don't have them..sorry
Hood air deflector - Owned them before and were more a pain than good.Small rocks would get in between the deflector and the hood causing premature corrosion
black side steps - Honda's new & improved models since the delamination issue with the older aluminum steps
front grille (like the RTX.. that thing is bad arse) - Definitely a must have!
Fender Flares - These items are very delicate and require extreme patience when installing otherwise the small plastic tabs break off. If you don't want to rely on the adhesive factory strips, use exterior-grade silicone sealant and I guarantee you that they'll never come off!
Side Protectors - A few members have installed them and swear by them. They'll also save you alot of grief in the parking lots. Some members have actually mixed and matched colors since they can be ordered in any color.
roof rack - Nice finishing touch but prepare yourself for a slight elevated noise level
front brush gaurd - I love it. Makes up for lack of.....a definite must!
Tow package - Without a doubt a definite yes! My next purchase! Hopefully they'll have the wiring harness issue resolved by then....
Fog lights - Expensive but worth every penny...my $0.02
XM radio - N/A in Canada....sorry
Honda link - no experience with that item
