I bought my '06 RL with 16K miles on it. Before delivery, I let the finance guy talk me into purchasing a Simoniz treatment package, but I only paid around 60% of the retail cost. Anyway, the color of my RL is Nighthawk Black, and for some time I have noticed that when looking at the paint in direct sunlight, although the finish it is very shiny and reflective, it appears to have a thin film over the paint. It's kinda hard to explain, but it has somewhat of a hazy look to it. Has anyone else noticed this with their Nighthawk Black RL? I always thought that with black paint, you were able to look deep into it, or so it appears. I showed this to our local dealer the other day and he referred me to a local body shop. The body shop guy seemed a bit puzzled too, but he thought it might be a problem with the clear coat and that a buffer and some liquid polish might do the trick. The dealer said that whatever needed to be done they would pay for, and then re-apply the Simoniz at no charge. I am now wondering if the Simoniz treatment wasn't the problem to begin with. if anyone could shed some light on this one, I would appreciate it very much.
