How about a Photography section?

More along the lines of "other than your truck" photos.

MISSION:

1. Tips for "how to" take this shot
2. Gear discussion
3. Post your travel/artistic/any photos
4. Monthly photo contest (if we were to get enough interest)

These are just some examples of what could be covered.

EXAMPLE...How to take Motion Shots from inside the Vehicle

I am on a few other auto forums and these sections are pretty popular.

I'm in. I won't be able to offer much, but I'm sure willing to learn new tips. I have two Canon cameras. One is the S2IS, love it. The other is their FTQL. Camera is 35+ years old and still takes great photos.

There are plenty of photogs on this site that would like this addition. We have the pets threads for pet lovers. A photo category would be grand.

Let's go. My camera gear is always under the rear seat ready to go for a photo safari.

I voted YES. Those who are not interested need not view the section, but I enjoy seeing others' efforts.

I think it will depend on bandwidth and some other Internet stuff with which I have NO familiarity!

btw, any of you who have DSLRs and a Mac computer should check out the Aperture software. Allows you to manipulate RAW images from your camera and is loaded with tons of great tools and features.

I'm teaching myself Aperture right now, with some hand holding from my adorable teacher at the Apple store when I get down to my one-on-one lessons. I'm very impressed with this application. I have no PhotoShop background and I'm sure that would help me catch on quicker, but I'm getting it. I need it. I'm up to my eyeballs in dig photos that need to be tweaked and organized. I just got my first camera that shoots RAW and I haven't experimented with that yet. I want to get a firm handle on the easier part before I go RAW.

I use Lightroom and Photoshop (MAC)

I shoot 99% of my shots in RAW.

Where did you get your Mark III? They are not shipping until the 3rd week in May. B&H isn't even accepting pre-orders and says they aren't shipping till June.

Yes, this will be a good idea to have a separate area for all Pictures to be posted.

I too took a 1 day class to learn to shoot and read some books, after owning a point and shoot camera and switched over to an DSLR. Even though its bulky, but couldn't pass up the quality a DSLR pictures compared to a point and shoot. Plus, i like all the stuff you can do with a DSLR.

I have a Canon Rebel Xti DSLR, with a battery grip for longer lasting battery charge. Even though 1 battery from canon last about 2 1/2 days of shooting continous with flash and without flash and time elapsed shooting. I traded in my Sony V1 to the Canon, when Bestbuy couldn't fix my camera and got frustrated with their customer service & product repair department. BB's exnteded warranty are a joke and not worth buying.

A BIG YES from me as well! I currently own a Sony F828. i really do Want to purchase a new Camera. Debating the Sony Alpha, Canon Rebel XTi, or the Canon 30D. They are all $$$ and i think it would be a BIG upgrade to what i currently use. i had a sony f717, and liked it so much i purchased the newer model f828. Now i think im wanting Something with bulk and MUCH faster! GRR! lol

The Images section states: Share images of the Ridgeline here from auto shows or other sightings...

I considered it to be specific for photos of Ridgelines only.

I would like that. I'm new to photography and look forward to learning more. Here's one experiment I tired after learning how to "paint with light" Something I found on the net.

YOu may want to look into photoshop or Elements. When shooting in RAW its a large file to tweak to the way you want the pictures to show up. Most camera's does come with a software for you to convert RAW files and help you tweak the pictures to the right amount of color or bring all to black and white. Certain pictures, i too shoot in RAW, but it does take or eat up some space on your memory stick or compact flash. I try to bring an extra compact flash when shooting in RAW format, but most of the time i just shoot in Jpg @ 10.2MP. I can later either crop it to size and change the lighting with PHotoshop, but if it looks good to me, i just leave it alone and crop it to size to fit my project. or blow it up to poster size :D

Cool shot. I understand the basic premise of paint with light, but how do you determine what length shutter speed works when painting with light? I've seen images with 7 hour shutter speed...how would you ever figure out how long that exposure should be?
