Late July/August meet?

Anyone interested in having a meet in scenic Northwest New Jersey? Thinking around the end of July or early August perhaps. Just a thought really.

Perhaps on the day of the national meet....for those on the east coast that can't make it to St. Louis....

And maybe the west coasters can do the same....three meets on the same day.....50-60 ridgelines meeting at the same time....

Oh, and lets not forget the guys up north.....maybe there's enough Canadian owners that live close enough to do it...which leads me to wonder...is the national meet 'national' or 'international'? I guess they need an out of country ROChead to attend to make it international! :D

Pick a location and suggest a local activity and let's see what happens. I'd certainly be interested. It's just a day trip for me.

A Journey to St. Louis is out of the question... ridiculous drive for the Ridge.
Anyways, the area I live in is fairly rural, the Delaware river is a half hour away, theres a nice bbq area thing in town. Alot of good eateries and what not in the area. Some gorgeous camping grounds less then a half hour away, alot of things to be done as far as good ol' fashion recreation goes! Any thoughts on that?

SpartanML, How about doing something like meeting up at Waterloo Village and than Cruising on up to Swartswood State Park or one of the other parks in the area. High Point would be another place, but it's a little more of a trip. Or maybe meet over in Jockey Hollow, Lewis Morris. That's right off of Route 287. Would be easy for everyone to get to. Could just do a picnic lunch and a casual walk around the old Washington encampment. Just some ideas. Open to comments and suggestions.

Indeed I have been considering everything like that, didn't think to do Jockey Hollow but it is a thought! I was actually thinking Swartswood myself.

Swartswood Lake, would be nice. I think they charge a couple bucks to get in, but no big deal. We may be able to reserve an area with some tables and grills. We could also have people meet up on Rotue 15 or 94 and caravan up to the lake so no one gets lost. It's a great road heading up there and a line of Ridge's would be fun. I just don't know if that's to much distance for people from southern NJ and the Philly area.

SpartanML, you may want to consider doing a poll for both dates and locations and see what people respond to and then take it from there. I'm willing to help out wherever I can. Let me know.

MOOSEPOND, WE WILL STILL HAVE FUN IN ST. LOUIS. REGIONAL AND STATE MEETS ARE GREAT, BUT I MISSED THE NATIONAL LAST YEAR AND I WILL DRIVE TO ST. LOUIS AND THEN ON TO NO. IL.

SOMEONE HAD MENTIONED EARLIER THAT THEY WERE TOO OLD TO DRIVE THE 1800 MILES. MY WIFE LOVES TO DRIVE THE RIDGE, BUT WHEN WE GO ON TRIPS, I DO ALL THE DRIVING. FOR 40 YEARS I DROVE AN AVERAGE OF 1500-2000 MILES PER MONTH WITH MY JOB. BEING RETIRED NOW, I DO HAVE MORE FREE TIME, BUT I AM 67 NOW AND STILL LOVE TO DRIVE, ESPECIALLY THE RIDGE.

SEE YOU IN ST. LOUIS!:) :)

Passports are not required as of yet unless you fly into the country, however after January 1st, they are supposed to be required for all border crossings. Yes the Canadian side of the falls is alot nicer but there is also a casino on the American side. American side is more park like, the Canadian side has alot more to do. There are some things that can be accessed from both sides like, the MAid of the Mist,. American Side has the CAve of the Winds and a Jet boat ride in the lower rapids. CAnadian side has an arial car over the rapids. There is a nice town on the Canadian side also call Niagara on the lake.

Turn left on 519 and drive 1/2 a mile to County Road 622. Turn left on 622 and drive 4 1/2 miles to County Road 619. Turn left on 619 and go 1/2 a mile to the park entrance. The office, Lake Swartswood and the family campsites are on your right; the group sites and the hiking trails are on your left.

The basic itinerary is as follows:
10:30AM - 1:30PM; Ridgeline arrival at the location.

1:30PM - 5:30PM; Meet and greet and explore the park.

5:30PM - Whenever(7:30PM - 8:30); Dinner, in Newton, at Applebees.

8:30PM(estimated) Regroup, hang out, goodbyes.

You know I was thinking, I don't think Applebees is the best idea for dinner... they're poor with reservations and stuff of that nature... I know of a great place about 10 miles away (mainly do to curvy roads) that has excellent food, and probably the best carvery in the state... they have a nice front room over looking a scenic farm and fields... and is pleasant to say the least. The place is called Co.ckadoodle Doo! Its in Hardwick and I think we should go there instead... it isn't as cheap as a place like Applebees but it is definatly worth it... The other thing I was thinking was maybe a cook out or a catering service... I know one that makes the best ribs in the area! So what do you guys think?

Who would figure, Alaska, "Rush Job" of all things, but when they need their CO to get in the building and they forgot their Fire Evacuation Maps some one is in big trouble, So, we bail them out and get to charge them through the 'you know what'. Good for me, tough luck for them.

Yes, I'm familiar with Swartswood Lk., I've been there before. So I guess I'm in for some paddling as long as the weather is nice.

Traveling with me, myself & I, so planning on keeping it simple...kayak & bagged lunch! Not familiar with Joe's! I'm from just over the NY border...you'll have to enlighten me!

If you could, it would be nice if a roster of the folks who have commited is posted. It's nice to know who may be there. :)

I'm in, you're in, mdwalls and 63Tbird are in. That makes four. I must assume Spartan is still in. That's five.

Spartan, it's time to show the roster and firm up the rest of the details. If you'd like I can keep the roster updated for you. Let me know.

OK Roni, that's great. I forgot JerseyRidge is coming so that brings the truck count up to 7. Schizoid2k and jforget1 will bring us up to 9.

I'll be bringing a batch of boardwalk style sausage, pepper and onion sandwiches to share, ONDLINKS is bringing some really good Potato Salad and I know 63Tbird is also packing stuff. Anyone else want to join in?

Sounds great! I'm looking forward to meeting everyone.

I can bring another type of side salad (haven't decided which favorite yet) and probably something for dessert.

Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be great. We're all looking forward to meeting you, too. :)

Looks like we got it all covered. Hey, Spartan are you going up earlier in the morning to try and hold an area, tables, grill etc. or we just going to hope for the best when we get there. I know if it's a nice day the park can fill up and availability of some place to put our stuff can get limited. I don't think we want to be stuck sitting on the beach. Some input on further plans would be great at this point.

Basically yes I am going to go and claim the spot... if not it really isn't a problem since the park is massive and we can easily be accommodated by the numerous benches and grills throughout the park. Most of the day will consist of hanging out... some will go boating while others will relax... we will then meet up for food and a good time later in the evening... that's about it.

Hey Mike in order to simplify things, why not shut down (or if you prefer, kill)this thread? Might make the final arrangements easier for you if everything was on one thread.

8 days to go! Pizza Man, mdwalls and myself are convoying up and should be in the area around 10:30-11:00. We hope to hook up with 63Tbird on the way in.

We'll be bringing enough food and stuff, sausage sandwiches, potato salad, chips and plasticware, etc.

All we need is a nice day. How's things looking on your end Mike? :)

Amazon tells me my Garmin Nuvi 350 will be delivered today. I excited. I can't wait to use it for the Meet.

Has Spartan mentioned a meeting point yet?

Pizza Man

I'm beginning to think this is no longer a viable Meet.

We don't know where the rally point is, what time to begin the Meet, who's coming, who's bringing what. Spartan hasn't posted here in 4 days. I'm worried about those who are coming and traveling far distances. Is there going to be a Meet for them when they get to Swartswood or what?

Am I the only one starting to worry?

Come on Mike, we need a little direction. Are you OK? Do you need some help? Are there work or family issues interfering with the planning? We can help if needed, just say so. Say something!

My sincerest apologies for not posting sooner a situation of utmost importance has arisen and with that being said I had to reshift all my attention to this new priority... I assure you all will be ready as I have already arranged a location in Swartswood... Pizza Man I am sorry for not replying to your messages and please don't take such a negative approach to things.

Thank you Mike, I appreciate your attention in this matter. I didn't mean to sound negative. I very concerned about the many who are traveling distances much further than I. It's also good to know how much stuff to bring.

I wonder if I can talk Jeanette into making some of her delicious brownies. Mmmm, chocolate!

Agreed, ONDLINKS.

My long-range forecast is calling for a sunny day with low humidity and mild temperatures. There will also be a chance of scattered friends and localized Ridgelines appearing throughout the day.

I'll bring the butter, looks like someone's bringing plenty of corn. :p

Unless someone mentions something for me to bring that is needed, I will bring something in the line of dessert.
