What do you think of the new Accord?

I think the 4 door version is a big double thumbs down. IMHO it's the most boring Accord yet. It looks amazing like the redone Hyndai Sonata from the back end which totally missed the mark as well.

The 2 door version on the other hand is pretty sharp. I'd drive it any day.

PS. I moved this to other cars and trucks since it's not a RL. :)

Hopefully they followed the Civic lead and digitalized the dash.

Here is a pic of the show car which has the headlights integrated into the front fenders. That was the best part of the car. I don't know what they did with the headlights in on the test mule. The spy photo looks more like a Chevy Malibu than the show car.

I'd be real dissapointed if the Accord hit the showroom floor looking like those pics.

The coupe is spectacular and beautiful. When I first saw pictures months ago I almost couldn't believe Honda designed it.

The Accord has been a sad looking car for so long that the new one has potential, although the mule looks derivative of many cars. I see pieces of Nissan (rear), Audi (front corners), etc. The only thing that has made the Accord's looks stand out in the past ten years is its "most conservative styling" status.

As for digital dashes......in general please no. Honda ergonomics have declined over the years from intuitive to increasingly gadget-y and random.

I think the RL's control placement is in general terrible and ugly. I believe Honda struggled to make the RL manly (hence the large knobs for A/C and wide spacing of the controls). But they put many things a far reach away, and put others like the cruise, VSA, and fog light controls in a stupid place. I also think the shroud around the RL speedometer is gimmicky and reduces visibility of adjacent gauges.

The rear of the 4-door looks a bit like a baby Benz. The coupe is beautiful all around. I prefer analog instruments overall, and changing to digital would affect my buying decision.

I agree with Hofffam regarding the Ridgeline dash. The gauge and control styling is ok by me but the placement of the switches in the lower dash can be a pain. I always have to check after I bump my knee in that area to make sure I didn't inadvertently switch the cargo light on or change the interior light rocker switch position.

That's what the consensus seems to be at our dealership...we love the 2 door and think the 4 door look likes the Hyundai. Rumor has it that Honda let go some of it's "older" designers and they went to work for Hyundai...hence the similarities between the two lately.

Rls dash setup: When I first got in the RL ther was a sense of these are all in the the right place., not expecting that, first Honda. Then I reliezed setup very close to my Chevy Tahoe ... so followed know setups

I agree with the previous poster who said the 4-door test mule looked like a Chevy Malibu. The coupe looks pretty sweet, though. The interior layout will be interesting to see. We've owned 2 coupes in the current body style & I've never been entirely happy with the dash/console set up.

I prefer analog instruments overall, and changing to digital would affect my buying decision. With the Civic dash, there is no mistaking how fast you are going. It is a split level dash which aids in keeping your eyes on the road instead of looking down to check your speed. Here is what it looks like:

Very whizzy, but I still prefer an analog speedometer.

When you view the overall car in person, hopefully it will have it's own distinct style. I like both the 2 and 4 door versions.

Accidently hit the drivers seat heat button the other day. Thought for a while the A/C wasn't working, till I noticed the button lit up.

That looks like a Pontiac. Don't know if you're testing us but that is not the Accord coupe.

Isn't the coupe picture the prototype show car? The sedan I think is probably closer to the final over all for the Accord although Honda states that there will only be a few minor cosmetic changes (I read that somewhere yesterday). I hope the coupe looks like that. My girlfriend might then just get that over the G35 that her heart is set on.

I was so wanting one (4 door) of those until I looked up the details on that.... PREMIUM gas. YUCK! The little annoyance would bug me at each fill up.

The picture of the white coupe is the actual car...the silver is the concept from the auto show.
