It's kind of ironic that one of my buds is using his 4th of July day off, along with his normal days off, to go camping in Canada. :p :)

Happy Canada Day to our northern neighbors and happy Independence Day to the citizens of the good ol' U.S.A. :)

I guess he primes himself with our smaller festivities in anticipation for the grand 4th of July!:)

Happy Canada Day....Eh?:D

A googled answer to your question:

Canada Day
noun
1. In Canada: a public holiday on 1 July, commemorating the anniversary of the union of the provinces in 1867 which created the Dominion of Canada.

The real reason we celebrate Canada Day:

What's everyone got planned for today?

I'm hoping to finish up some landscaping I started this week, then maybe a movie with a friend.

Good one, eh!

Nice try though, Pug. :p 23 degrees here (you can figure it out), beautiful sun, actually burnt my neck while finishing up the yardwork. Perfect day!

Shoot, half the French-speaking schmucks moved to Louisiana. (I have a former colleague whose husband's name is Labatt. Yep, that Labatt. But she is married into a Louisiana branch of the family that "Creole-ized" and has considered itself African-American for many years. She said they attended a combined family reunion once that was quite interesting.) Confused? Good! :D

Happy Canada Day to all our friends from the Great North Country. Over the years, I've done some wonderful wilderness canoeing in your great country (Algonquin and Boundary Waters) and I do love your neck of the woods. Great people...great country. Many reasons to celebrate.

I'm happy to see that some of our french-speaking culture rubbed off on you guys.;) Too bad some of yours never came up here! I'd love to sink my teeth into some "Poulet à la Louisianne" right now.:)

Now how about that! I have some friends in here in La Petite Roche (a.k.a Little Rock) who are also Labatt from New Orleans. However, some time before 1920 they changed their name to Labat when they moved north.

I had a great time when I drove to Montreal via Toronto. Of course it helps if you say you live near Lafourche.
