Does anyone else make a box that fits in the factory sub position? Just looking to add a little to my RTX, and I dont want to take up any of the underseat storage as I use it frequently.
Thanks
Roy

There is probably a reason it was discontinued.

I reccomend the single 10" under the seat box by subthump. It only takes up little more then the space under the passenger side rear sear and with quick disconenct terminals if you needed to pull it out and throw it in the trunk its quick and easy to do.

...2X8/10/12 for under seat.

Well its uh....behind the seat. :o
The rear one that is. Its where the factory puts it.
Thanks for the suggestions guys, but as I said, I dont want it under the rear seat. If I cant get a box to hide it behind the back seat, I just wont get one at all. :(

sorry....I was being sarcastic.

translation: there is not enough space behind the rear seat for much of anything.......especially a subwoofer(well one that really pounds anyway)no offense to the factory sub*

There's a thread deeper in this section...a member constructed a box for behind his seat and posted photos and some dimensions. If you're at all handy looked pretty simple to duplicate.

Looked up the link:

This could be what you're looking for.

go to elementaldesigns.com, they can build you a box and load it with the sub too

it's 20inches wide, top depth is 3 inches and bottom is 5.

elemental designs did my box and it fit great. ive had no issues with mine

ask for Chris schempf ( sp) i gave himt he demensions and design. the sub needs to be flush mouted or it will hit the back seat. Its not a factory bolt on fit because of the bracing back there but it fits right in and doesnt move. u can make brackets to bolt up if u feel comfortable but I didnt the seat actually holds it in place at the top of the box.

I can reach my fingers up under the seat and have space between the seb and the seat, even at full blast with a nine.4 ive never hit the back seat with my sub

Where did you mount your amp?

Thanks, this may be the best bet for a hidden sub box now.

I don't want to cut into the cab space either so I emailed cschempp at Elemental Designs to get pricing and such. Will post back when I hear something.

I have a suggestion.

I just had some audio equipment installed, and I replaced the stock head unit, and inturn added a 120 watt amp to keep the stock sub powered. The installer mounted the amp behind the seat, and the stock sub pounds twice as hard with the new amp.

:)

The stock sub is not rated to handle anything above the stock head unit.

Please keep us posted as for the durability as I would not expect it to last more then two weeks powered by an amplifier .

I called and talked to cschempp at Elemental Designs on Tuesday with pricing questions. I'll also post what I find out when he emails me the info.

Hopefully if enough of us call him he will dig out the pricing. He said he already had two people queued up from last week when I spoke with him.

4 days; no response... from Chris/EGSame here. I finally decided to just buy the EDs sub to see what it can do. I didn't want to fiberglass anything this time around since it is a pain, but I build better glass boxes than MDF ones. I plan on building a glass box using the stock sub box as my frame. Should be an easy fit since I have a box to cast a mould from.

BTW if enough people are interested, I may be able to cast several boxes from the same mould. Won't know how big a PIA it is until I do the first one, but if it isn't horrible I may try to put together multiples. Shipping will likely suck however. I am not known for my clean fiberglass work... many friends have laughed at my boat anchor boxes.
