No, I didn't kiss him. That's the band he was in back in the '80s, though you probably already know that! ;)

He saw me taking his picture and turned and pointed at me. I waved and walked away. :o

He was pointing at you to politely say... You the man!... (He probably saw your RL in the parking lot...) :D

That's probably a wig. (We're all losing it.) Good thing he didn't stick his tongue out at you.

Speaking of "Kiss", here are some old friends that came to visit on Halloween many years ago. BTW, I am #32. To let you know how long ago this was, it was several years before I got my first Honda. At that time, I had a 1969 T-Bird.

The overall's on "Paul" make this almost look like something out of Clockwork Orange... :D

I remember my neighborhood friends and I used to do KISS air guitar concerts on my friends porch. We'd set up a stage up there and blast the radio and do a KISS concert for all the little girls on the street. We thought we were Rock Stars but at 10 years old, we didn't really know what direction to take the whole groupie thing...

These guys never made it to the top. One died in a sewer gas accident, another is a cleaning contractor, "Paul" is a lineman for a utility system, and one is a Tennessee State Trooper.

KISS is actually doing 3 shows in the next month or so - one in Michigan, Wisconsion and California.

I would love to go, but can't take the time off. I've seen them twice in the last ten years or so. Most amazing concerts I've ever seen - nobody even comes close. I can remember sitting on the opposite side of the arena at the first concert and feeling the heat from the flashpots on stage which were probably 50 yards away. That last time I saw them (Charleston, SC) was the night that Peter Criss pushed his drums off his platform and never put on the Cat make-up again.

I've been a big Kiss fan most of my life. Gene has worn a wig since around 85 or so, but sometimes it is his real hair, just depends on the occasion.

Oh, if you are going to see Kiss perform, it's not Ace and Peter playing, it's Tommy Thayer in the Spaceman makeup and Eric Singer (who actually was a member of the band before the reunion) as the Catman. They play good, but they really shouldn't be putting them in Ace and Peter's look. I think it would be smarter just to go without the makeup like they previously did in the 80's-early 90's. But according to Gene, people want to see Kiss in the makup regardless of who's in the "character's" makeup.

Hell, Ace hasn't actually been 'in the band' for over 25 years. He's played with them occasionally, but it's been very rare. Now, he's credited on a lot of albums, but he never played on them. Same way with Peter, but he stuck around longer. Gene & Paul both thought it was best to maintain that it was Ace & Peter - and with the make up & secrecy it wasn't difficult to fool everyone. Both Ace & Peter screwed up big time with drugs & alcohol.

Ace was an actual member for 2 more years than Peter. TPeter left in 80 and Ace in 82, but neither played a note on what was their official last albums. They both came back for two reunion tours, but then Peter left and Ace stayed, then Peter came back and Ace left, now they are both gone.

The #32 jersey from that era - must've been Franco Harris of the Steelers?

Not so, however I was lucky enough to have seen the "Imaculate Reception" on TV. Always liked the Steelers. Tennessee gave them the 1st good black quarterback, Jefferson Street Joe Gilliam. If Joe had stayed away from the nose candy, you probably would never have heard of Terry Bradshaw.

That AFC Championship game was one of the all time greats, particularly since the Raiders lost. Gilliam was good. Too bad. I think he and Chuck Muncie went to the same candy store. What a waste! (And what a detour from the original thread, sorry.)

Gene is a great guy, I worked for a record distributor in the late 80's and he made an appearence. He hung out with a group of us while we were on lunch. I met John Denver and the girls from Vixen too!

For the most part, it's his real hair. Like many guys his age he's thinning on top, so he combs it forward then parts it in an attempt to disguse the fact. Oh, and lots of hairspray. When he's performing with KISS in makeup, he uses a hairpiece (blended in with the topknot) to replicate his former hairline, which can be seen (despite the makeup) in close-ups.

After Ace and Peter left the group again after the reunion tours, Gene was quoted as saying Ace's guitar skills had not improved since the first time he left the group in the 80's. Ace himself has alluded to this, saying he would have practiced more if he'd know so many young guitarists were going to attempt to play like him. I've seen KISS perform twice with Tommy Thayer, and he's not even as good as Ace. On the other hand, I've seen Eric Singer perform with KISS and Alice Cooper, and IMO he's (arguably) the best drummer working today.

One of the times my wife and I saw KISS perform was during the reunion tour and, at one point during the encore, security walked right past us with Shannon Tweed, their son Nick, and their daughter Sophie, so the kids could watch their father perform. Despite the fact that he was onstage in his "Demon" persona, as soon as Gene saw his children his demeanor changed completely; consciously or not, he dropped the act and became the beaming, proud father, smiling and waving to them for about 10 seconds as though they were the only people in the arena. Shannon Tweed, btw, is stunningly beautiful in person.
