Last week my XM Radio started going out when it loses its signal (signal is usually lost for just a few seconds). It makes the static noise alternating between sound from the radio. Then finally it goes out completely. The XM is silent, however it keeps updating the songs (signal is still being received), etc. The radio seems to reset after the car is shut off. FM/AM/CD still work.
Anyone else have this issue?

My '06 Accord did something along those lines. If I lost signal for more than a minute or two (for example: sitting under a metal awning in a drive-through), song information would update when I regained signal, but it would remain silent until I turned off the radio, then turned it back on. It didn't happen often enough to become an issue for me.

I have had a similar issue four or five times since February but I am not convinced that the problem is signal loss. Each time that it occurred there were no obstructions to cause reception problems. In addition, the loss of radio output was too regular - gone about a second, back about a second - for about 30 seconds or so until it just stopped totally on every XM station I tried. The program information continued to update indicating that a signal was still present. Turning the radio off and back on did not fix anything. It seems that I have to leave the truck turned off at least a couple of hours in order to get XM back. This makes me think the problem is XM amplifier or demodulator related specifically and something needs to totally cool down before recovering.
I have not brought this up to my dealer's service department yet since I cannot make the problem occur and it is relatively rare. I would like to note what I am doing and the condition of the environment just prior to the problem's onset to see if there is any pattern. This is somewhat difficult since I would need to "rewind" what I was doing just before it happens. If the problem starts happening more frequently and consistently, I will let my dealer know.

For me, a weakening XM signal results in a sometimes stuttering and then nothing. There is no static sound.
Sounds like something else is going on.

LitRidge... You have exactly the same problem as I have. If it does happen again I will ask the service department also. But it does seem like some type of 'bug' in the XM radio.

I had it happen again this morning. It occurred when I used the steering wheel preset switch to jump over one preset station without pausing. When the second preset began playing, the oscillation began ending my XM reception until I left work for the day. Normally, skipping a preset works fine so I don't think this is the cause but rather some combination of events.
