Hopefully someone knows the answer to this already. Can I pull the 6CD changer from the system and put in a factory MP3 player in its place? It is hard to run this info down as the Nav seems very integrated to the 6cd changer. I know the MP3 player is WAY over priced, but right now if I could just rip the changer out and hook MP3 to the system it would be a small price to pay for integration.

I had to read this a couple of times. You have the RTL with navigation (you might want to update you profile at the top). Since this is the case, I would use the AUX input for MP3 integration. For less then a 1/5 of the cost, you could get a portable MP3 player that has more capacity then the Honda CD utilized MP3 unit. Just think of the capacity MP3 player that could be purchased for just half the cost of the Honda unit….

I think XM based head units have a problem running the iPod interfaces anyway. If the MP3 player can be plugged in where the 6cd changer is and work, that is certainly my winner. I would rather not spend $350 to find out it doesn't work however.

My RL didn't have NAV so I can't say this with complete confidence, but looking at pictures I doubt you can separate the CD changer from the NAV. Even if they are two physically separate boxes it looks like the bottom unit has many controls that are not CD specific.

I am hoping the head unit can control it though. I wonder if the service manual has the pinouts for two units. Anybody got a service manual that could check this for me?
