smithphillipj 08-12-2007, 06:30 AM I have a 2007 RTL without Nav. I do have the MP3 Player. I was wondering if I can hookup my IPOD to the truck. The Dealer said yes, but I can't find a jack. Second question is about the XM to Sirius switch. How do I go about switching the sat radio to Sirius. Thanks for any help:)

If you have both the accessory mp3 player and factory (((XM))), I don't think you can add an iPod connector unless you sacrifice the mp3 player. The 14-pin aux input socket on your head unit can handle 2 auxiliaries through a Y-splitter in the line, but you're already using a Y-splitter.
I have no idea about XM to Sirius unless you add an external Sirius receiver, which I don't think you can do without sacrificing one or the other of your external input lines...
Some more knowledgeable people here may know otherwise, but that's my understanding of the situation.
fireguy2emt 08-12-2007, 07:10 PM If you have an iPod you can buy the USASpec iPod adapter and you will still retain the functionality of your CD Changer and XM radio. www.usaspec.com
Also, XM and Sirius are in the process of merging and the packages should be ready this fall where you can have the content from XM or Sirius or both on either equipment. Maybe keep your factory XM for now and then get the Sirius content this fall - at least you will keep your steering wheel control funtionality. Just my 2 cents.
By the way, nice color Ridge!!!
smithphillipj 08-13-2007, 08:47 AM With the usaspec adapter Ishould be all set to work the IPOD? I hope the XM/Sirius deal goes through quickly. I used to have XM on my other vehicle. Then switched to Sirius. I even have the Sirius hat. Thanks for all the help:D
Rich W. 08-14-2007, 07:26 PM I have the USA-Spec hook-up, and it works great, don't forget to order the additional harness if you want to retain XM. With this feature you can have both XM and Sirius, plus your ipod, that's allot of choices.
brianrwebb 08-15-2007, 12:35 AM VaisTechnology has developed an OEM XM>Sirius interface to convert all XM functionality into Sirius programming, with their yet to be released SL2Hs interface; it will consist of the interface and Sirius tuner.
a forum thread has been started on the forum page of thier website:

and it has been spoken about on the siriusbackstage forum site as well:

with the addition of an OEM XM-to-Sirius antenna adapter, it will be installed with no exterior parts, taking advantage of the roof-mounted paint-matched XM antenna already existing on the car- you will have all the control you have now, only with Sirius content.
in regards to the hopes of a proposed merger, if in fact it is approved, the two competing services are incompatible to one another, so either the combined XM/Sirius will have to create all new Dual-Format Tuners, both OEM and aftermarket units, or simulcast ALL channels to ALL satellites so us existing XM subscribers can listen to current Sirius programming and vice-versa.
will this happen?
smithphillipj 08-15-2007, 11:45 AM What I did was buy a TomTom navi. This solves the IPOD issue as it has a connector on it. It is also Bluetooth. I just plug it in to the power outlet. Since I have two up front might as well use one. As for the audio the navi has an FM transmitter so I listen on an unused frequency. So IPOD check, bluetooth check, navi check. All for alot less than the Honda navi. Yeah I know I lose the look. The XM/Sirius fix was this. I cancelled my subscription to Sirius and will keep XM. The lady on the phone says that by the beginning of next year we will be able to listen to both services for a little extra over normal price no new equipment either:D

I have been waiting for something like I love sirius and have temporarily given up sirius because my receiver was stolen and just stuck with the XM in the truck.
According to satteliteguys the merger will consist of a simulcast of all thats great on sirius (football, rock, howard, etc..) and all thats great on xm (baseball, pop, O&A, etc...)
This has been a major factor in getting it approved as being something that will benefit the consumer not hurt them.
Six Rails 12-25-2007, 02:27 AM Alvarez you and I are in the same boat. I still have sirius love howard and bubba I have to admit they are rude and raunchy but I still am a bubba mark, bits cappers, lot lizzards to tizzy I loveum all, so I have to have my satelite radio. I think my answer will be a new touch screen stereo with Sirius and then add an XM station or two.I commute about an hour each way in the morning and most of my jobs are still an hour plus from the office so you can see why satelite is the only answer.
ps sorry about your stolen radio bud.
Thanks Kevin
Six Rails 12-25-2007, 02:36 AM As far as the ipod accessory option is concerned HandD has what you need.http://www.handaccessories.com/ridgeline.html
ROC on Kevin :)
amlabs07 01-01-2008, 09:14 PM will the USAspec unit work if you also have the Navi? The implication from both links seems to be contradictory on that point. I've got Navi, but would like to use an integrated iPod connection instead of via the extra cables on the dash...
Also, where did you mount your connection to the iPod itself?
thanks
