Not sure if it was the car wash I took my RL through this weekend or the fact that I used the windshield scrubber at the gas station when filling up to get off the bugs, but yesterday I noticed that the entire length of the bug shield was scratched very noticeably. Any ideas on how to restore this?

Man - that sucks :( I've only run mine through one local car wash, and it seemed to do fine, although it's an upscale joint - not your average car wash. Other with more experience in this area will hopefully give you some suggestions...

There are a number of different plastic polishes available. An easy source would be a motorcycle shop and polish for faceshields. Or, if you have an airport nearby, they will have polish for airplane windscreens.
And if you have a random orbital buffer, it will make the job go much, much faster - polishing plastic by hand is not easy.

Don't spend too much time on it, scratches are inevitable and when I have tried to buff out the ones on my OEM window visors, I didn't have much success. Little tree branches at the mall is the only thing I can figure....
Good luck. :)

my oem bug shield has tons of hairline scratches, it is also full of bug imprints that I can not remove. You can only see both from about 10 feet away. It is 2 years old.

Thanks for all the replies, but it is scratched to the point were it looks almost as if it has a dull finish. I purchased it so it would keep the paint from getting damaged as much and yes things get scratched, but not from brand new to the point were it looks years old. That is why I asked.

You can try the honda cleaner polish or Plexus from a motorcycle shop. They clean my visor and windscreen on my f4i (same style plastic). But since i had my bike and 3 windscreens later, they all get scraches.
Do not use windex or any alcohol based cleaners. Not only can you ruin the paint on the truck it tends to weaken the plastic or make them look cloudy.

Thatll do it without a doubt.
Yeah that was my fear and the evidance seams to support this. The scratches are not that deep, but very numerous.
Thanks again everyone!
