Has anyone been able to fit a boat rack to carry a 14 foots boat on the side of the truck bead like other truck can?

It is the kind of rack that full size pick-up usully have to carry ladder, or other stuff over the truck cabin that is longuer thant the truck box.

It is usually bolts on the side of the box 8 foots long + extra that can go over the truck cabin.

Sorry no camera

you mean like this?

I have wondered if they make ladder racks for ridgelines too.

it says "These truck racks - ladder racks racks can be adjusted without cutting to fit all makes and models of vehicle"

A while back someone posted some pics and links to a rack that goes in your bed and will support small boats, kayaks etc. It doesn't go over the cab like the condtruction racks but I'm sure you could use it for small boat as long as it's secured well. I'd do a search on the forum for it. It was pretty slick and lilght weight.

I just looked up the link to the company. Here it is. http://sportraxx.com/index.htm
looks like you might have to rig a longer cross bar attachment to fit the width of a small 14' boat. Hope it helps.

OP, you may want to just consider a bed extender

I really like the looks of the Sporttraxx system. Has anyone used one of these?

I've got two SOT kayaks to transport (15' and 13').

i have had the sport rax since may and I'm quite statisifed i got the river runner model so i could put 2 canoes up there and it has been working out great for that. It would be nice to have a little protection over the cab but for canoes and kayaks this ceritanly does the trick. let me knoe if you have specific ?
