Miss Ellie & Co. 10-10-2007, 10:12 AM Hi guys! It's getting near to be that time of year again.
Your EOC cousins are in the planning stages of invading Death Valley National Park once again for another faboo camping gig in February.
You are all coordially invited to attend it!
We had a great time with youze guyzes last year and would like to do it all over again.
All the usual suspects will be there along with some newbees that have since joined our Certified-Camping-Fool crew.
It should be an even larger turn out than last year and sure to be that much more fun.
So how bout it... 5S Dude, Kanji, Mguzman, Twintym, kneemow and Gadgetz... wanna to go party in the big dirt and rocks with some Elements?
Check out the Death Valley Feb 08 Jamboree thread in the EOC for more info.
Hope you'll come along. we had a great time with ya'll last year.

wow, have you guys set a date, may have to consider it again, that was really fun last trip, and may want to do it again. I have to check my schedule to see if i can go. but will put this event on top of the list :D , will post on EOC and thanx for the invite. I can also bring my mountain bike and maybe able to bike around the valley.
Miss Ellie & Co. 10-10-2007, 10:17 PM Kanji, the dates for the trip are,
Feb. 22-23-24 Fri-Sat-Sun
Some folks are already making reservations.
Here's the link to the park: http://www.nps.gov/deva/
When you get to the web site's main page, click on Camping on the left side menu.
On this page you will see a large M click on that and it will take you to a map of the Furnace Creek Campground. This is where we'll be camping.
It's the same campground that we stayed at last year.
The better campsites, if my memory serves me well, (the ones with some shade) are sites 75-87.
People can make reservations on line or by telephone.
Telephone: 1-877-444-6777
On-Line: http://www.recreation.gov.
Hope to see you there! :D

thanx....
Shade wasn't a problem, it was the freakin motor home with its electrical turning on and off all night and trying to sleep when all that was happening, plus the temp really and air was static all night, and the temp really drop. So early morning light and warm that day was welcomed :D . I gotta check my schedule to see if i'm free and will let you know. I am looking foward to it.
accordingtoome 10-10-2007, 11:04 PM dang.. i have exactly 0 camping gear. hmmm.. I would really like to do this though. Hey kanji what do you think i need to bring to make this a great trip? Ideas?

well, what i brought last time was:
1 tent (4 person tent) or bigger, it all depends how much work you want to bring up and tear down the tent. Also, bring a tarp to lay under the tent;
2 Sleeping Bag (1 rated at -20 below, 1 rated at 20+) just in case;
1 Bed mat and 1 Coleman inflatable bed (just in case the ground is to hard);
Flash light with extra batteries;
GMRS 18Mile 2 way radio with xtra Lithium battery;
Hiking boots;
Camera Bag with DSLR and Tripod w/ Zoom lens or a Point and shoot camera;
2 ice chest coolers ( 1 has all meat, 1 has all drinks and none parishable items) Seperate from meat contamination.; Portable Grill w/ 2 bags of ready light charcoal with lighter with extra fuel;
Lots of Water and water bottles
Xtra cash do to everything in DV is really expensive due to everything needs to be shipped in.
Enought food to feed yourself for 4 days, just in case.
and First Aide Kit desert & Mountain fashion kit
Bring Fire logs for the night.
AS you can see, iwas prepared...the temp at DV wasn't really hot, it stayed roughly around 74 deg F but dropped down to 34 deg F at night.
Also, as a reminder, there's no cell towers inside DV, i think there is but there was barely any signal that i got the last time i was there. But GMRS radio that has a range of 10 miles and up works best. since everyone was using it. the longer the range the better, unless you bring a satelite phone :eek: :D
accordingtoome 10-10-2007, 11:37 PM That means i need
1 tent
2 sleeping bags
1 grill
2 bed mats
some fire logs..
hmm.. ohh and the spending cash.
This is a few days from my birthday so im going to ask everyone for these as gifts. :D

ONe greatest thing i also forgot to mention...thanx to Miguel and Ron, actually Mguzman, he let me borrowed a Coleman Catalytic heater here's the link: http://www.coleman.com/coleman/colemancom/detail.asp?product_id=5035A750&categoryid=3000
This is a must and it will keep you comfortable throughout the night when the temp dips down and keeps the tent barable when you need to get out of your sleeping bag. As for the first aid kit, i forgot to mention the kit that i have is a Survival First Aid kit type.

Miss Ellie,
I almost got into the Tahoe thing last year, but then got tangle up at work . . . haven't been back to the site much, and haven't joined even any local RL events since one in San Diego last year with our Element friends. BUT . . . I'm unhooking from the old jobaroonie at the end of the year - retiring for real, free at last, free at last. Sooooo, our schedule is certainly open, and this sounds like a good way to get back into things. I'll keep an eye out as things develop here, and hope to join you all in February!
