Recap and stories from Long Island Fall Meet for NE Chapter of ROCT Mac 10-13-2007, 02:09 PM Okay....alright, already...put the wine down and post some pics for those of us curious on how the day(s) are going! :) Pizza Man 10-13-2007, 09:19 PM Okay....alright, already...put the wine down and post some pics for those of us curious on how the day(s) are going! :) Festivities are almost complete. Alsridge did a wonderful job organizing things. Everyone had a great and fun time. Pics to follow some time tomorrow! ONDLINKS 10-14-2007, 12:12 PM Wow! what a great time. The weather was perfect. Thanks to Alsridge (Allan), PizzaMan (Joe) and 63Tbird (Andrew & Grace) for thier work making this a great Meet. We started out at Apple Honda who provided a seperate parking area for us along with refreshments and gifts. After, Al led us over to the Martha Clara Vineyard for some wine tasting and lunch in a beautiful setting. Al was able to secure our own parking area and outdoor tent. Nicely done Al! We finished up at Charlie Brown's for a group dinner and some raffle prizes. I enjoyed seeing some old friends and making new one's. ONDLINKS 10-14-2007, 12:15 PM More Pics... ONDLINKS 10-14-2007, 12:18 PM The Last Of The Pics.... ONDLINKS 10-14-2007, 12:20 PM Ps...and Thanks To Al FTM1 10-14-2007, 12:35 PM I made it home around 12:00PM got a little late start off this mourning 6:30AM. Traffic was good all the way back to DC. Going up I have never seen anything like that NJ/NY Friday afternoon traffic in my life. Whoever first used the term Long Island Parking Lot was 100% correct. Alsridge/Pizza Man/63Tbird all did a wonderful job in putting things together. I enjoyed myself at this meet. Alsridge tried to get me drunk on some dessert wine after the wine tasting was over. But it was very nice seeing all the old faces from the Altoona meet again. It was also a real pleasure in meeting all of the new faces. Apple Honda of Riverhead,NY was wonderful to us . Martha Clara Vineyards was very nice to us my Honda cap goes off to them. Dinner at Charlie Brown's Steak House was good last night. Now when the last of us came out from dinner somebody had the county police over by his truck:D But I trully enjoyed everything I would like to do that again maybe next year. Pizza Man 10-14-2007, 02:41 PM Here is the start of the pics I was able to take. Ist pic is Friday night's dinner at Lombardi's Italian Restaurant. 2nd is FTM1, Fred, taking care of some Ridgeline business. 3rd is gathering for departure to Apple Honda. 4th and 5th is at the Dealership. More to follow. alsridge 10-14-2007, 02:59 PM I hope, and I think everyone had a great time, I know I did and my wife did too. It was great to see old and new faces. I think, we all should also thank Joe, Andrew and all the others that help with the gifts and to make it happen. Like I said at Charlie Browns, This group on Ridgelines are great people and I would do it again for you guys and ladies too.:D MoeD: I. O. U. two drinks. I did forget about it, and I remindered, on Sunday. Next time.;) Get home safe. Allan T Mac 10-14-2007, 04:26 PM Congrats on a great meet guys! Glad everyone had a good time. I wish I could have been there! Pizza Man 10-14-2007, 04:41 PM Thanks T Mac, It truly was a great Meet. I'm sure you would have enjoyed it. I have more photos to post so here we go: The first photo is part of the decorations Apple Honda prepared for us. The next is jforget1's handiwork with some spray paint. I like the look. The 3rd is of gene r signing the Meet Banner, which was later presented to the Dealership and will be hung there prominently. I also supplied the ROC business cards to them for distribution. The fourth and fifth is the lineup of Ridgelines at the Vineyard. Still more to come. Pizza Man 10-14-2007, 04:46 PM Five more, the first is the Pizza Wagon, had to get that in. 2nd and 3rd are some of the animals on display at the Vineyard. 4th and 5th are at Charlie Brown's. Anyone notice Al Pacino joined us there? :D That's another photo of Gene R. Pizza Man 10-14-2007, 04:52 PM This picture is to prove to everyone that ROC Meets are kid friendly. This is Erik, son of Britta and Brian (Britimes2). 25 Year Honda Owner 10-14-2007, 05:54 PM I made it home around 12:00PM got a little late start off this mourning 6:30AM. Hey Fred, were you the only one there that was at the St. Louis meet??? jforget1 10-14-2007, 06:41 PM Wow what a great meet this ended up being, the weather was great, the places were awesome and the people were the best. Was great to get to meet so many new people. Will post some of the shots I have soon. Looking forward to the next meet already. Keep the pics coming. Joe FTM1 10-14-2007, 06:46 PM Hey Fred, were you the only one there that was at the St. Louis meet??? I think so will have to check on that. gene r 10-14-2007, 07:03 PM Just one of those days where everything goes right. Weather, food (and wine) and friends. Al, Joe and Drew did a great job putting this together. This was my first meet but it sure won't be the last. Raplon had the most modified Ridge there It's the silver one in the lot with the brush guard. He had a Borla exhaust on it that sounded great. There's a shot here of an open field of sunflowers and the last shot is of me raising my glass to the ROC. gene r 10-14-2007, 07:06 PM bottle of wine fruit of the vine ... mdwalls 10-15-2007, 03:44 AM Awsome weekend after a unbelievable drive to get there. Thanks to seabiz guest, directions home using the Throgs Neck Bridge, I made it home in just under 3 hours. Great time at both dinners and Martha Clara's. It was a fun weekend and great to see old and new friends. Al, Joe and Andrew, great job. I think my navi is on the L. I. Expressway (expressway thats funny) somewhere. Oznative 10-15-2007, 04:48 AM Wow, Looks like you all had a great time. Looks like Joe F. took the best mod category again. It looks really beautiful down there. I truly wish I could have made it. 63Tbird 10-15-2007, 08:29 AM Allen & Joe, What can we all say but, THANKS!! Great work on pulling this one together. The scheduling and timing of everything, and the meeting place's all work out really well. Joe, your connections with the man upstairs for the weather and Allen, for your inspiring idea to meet at the Marth Clara Vineards. Having a beautiful drive through the country side of Long Island and sacrificing your truck in the mud to wait for us all,:D . It was a pleasure to meet new people and catch-up with some old friends. I only wish I had more time to get to know everyone, but there's always the next one. Hope everyone made it home safe. All I can say is, "What A Great Day!". Also, A big Thank You to Apple Honda for hosting us in the morning. Giving us all some bagels, danish, coffee and a mug to take with us. 63Tbird 10-15-2007, 08:35 AM A couple more pics. I don't think the sky could have looked any better! 5S Dude 10-15-2007, 09:09 AM Thank you so much for sharing these photos with the whole club! It looks like another exceptional job getting this meet & greets organized with awesome weather and a super great turnout as well. ROC-On! from your west coast brothers and sisters. Who did the awesome banner? Schizoid2k 10-15-2007, 11:31 AM Sorry I couldn't make this one... looks like it was a great success. FLA-Vyk 10-15-2007, 02:44 PM Looks like everyone had a great time. Pizza Man 10-15-2007, 02:54 PM Who did the awesome banner? Ron, the Banner was designed and fabricated by 63Tbird and his wife Grace. The photo doesn't show the whole United States as a shadow behind the highlighted Northeast Region Map. There is also a Star to represent exactly where in Long Island the Meet was held. Very clever, I think. We will use a similar layout for all future Meets. Sorry I couldn't make this one... looks like it was a great success. Looks like everyone had a great time. It would have been great to see you and the wife again, John. I can speak for all of us that it was a fun time. 25 Year Honda Owner 10-15-2007, 06:12 PM Looks like a great time had by all. Even the weatherman cooperated!!:) Since you NE guys do such a great job, move a little South for the next meet, say Roanoke!!!!:) I could handle that!!! mdwalls 10-15-2007, 06:19 PM I'm in. :) alsridge 10-15-2007, 06:21 PM (sacrificing your truck in the mud to wait for us all,) Mud is not a easy thing to clean off the tires, But it done. What I will do for the Club. Pizza Man 10-16-2007, 12:22 PM Make it South!! We need a meet really bad, just need some organization!!:D Ok, "25". Let's start talking this up. Do you want to start the thread or shall I? Who will do the leg-work? It would need to be someone in the decided upon meeting area. Are there any volunteers who can recommend a Meeting point, an activity, lodging and dinner? Where will next years National be held? Anyone with an educated guess? I can only attend one maybe two Meets a year and wouldn't want to miss the National because I went to a far-away Regional. Why wait for the next year?! If we are going south, it should be warm enough to still do it this year. I always wanted to visit Tennessee! I'm with you Raplon...why wait ??? Speaking only for myself, I'm tired. A Mini-Meet here or there is fine, but another Major won't be until the Spring for me. 25 Year Honda Owner 10-16-2007, 01:49 PM Ok, "25". A Mini-Meet here or there is fine, but another Major won't be until the Spring for me. I will PM you later, as far as the National Meet in '08, I just heard some talk in St Louis, maybe 2 meets, 1 East and 1 West. I heard Vegas, Atlanta, and Orlando mentioned. Keep in mind this was just talk and Tom was not involved in the discussion I was in. Schizoid2k 10-16-2007, 06:10 PM It would have been great to see you and the wife again, John. I can speak for all of us that it was a fun time. Maybe (hopefully) some sort of local winter meet will happen... I enjoyed the mini-meet we had in August. We wanted to get to this one but had a few things preventing us from making the trip. Gald to see everyone had a great time. The weather held up too! John32070 10-16-2007, 07:08 PM Nice to hear a good time was had, and neat pictures too. I guess when I think of Long Island all I think of is skyscrapers and such, glad to see there is some actual country there. I think Fred deserves special recognition for attending both this and the National meet. Maybe we should call him the go anywhere for a Ridgeline meet guy. Not sure if I like the idea of two National meets or not as it doesn't sound like I'd be in driving distance to the locations metnioned so far. I vote Branson, MO as it's a central local and there's something for everyone to do there. Raplon 10-16-2007, 08:08 PM By the way Mr. and Mrs.Raplon.......your Son's were so well mannered, and a joy to converse with .... Thank you very much! mdwalls 10-17-2007, 03:42 AM Is the Niagra Falls spring meet a dead issue ? If we go south, how about the Outer Banks. Pizza Man 10-17-2007, 04:46 AM Is the Niagra Falls spring meet a dead issue ? If we go south, how about the Outer Banks. Bud, at this point nothing is a dead issue. We're just throwing ideas around. I think Niagara Falls may be a bit too difficult to organize. We would need someone from the area to do the leg-work. The Canadian side is the better place to visit, so I'm told, and that would require passports. The Outer Banks is a fine location, but it would put many of us on a route through Baltimore and DC. I'm not crazy about hitting any more traffic snarles after what we went through in New York. Colonial Williamsburg is another possibility. Roanoke is also good because it would be the easiest of drives for us. Long, but easy. Pa TP to I-81 and we're there. Besides, Roanoke would give 25 Year Honda Owner an opportunity to join us and maybe even Arteegee. Roanoke would still be considered a Mid-Atlantic Meet, as well. There is plenty of time and many more places to discuss. Let's just keep the ideas flowing. mdwalls 10-17-2007, 06:08 AM After the Queens and L. I. Expressways, Baltimore and D.C. traffic is a cake walk. I have a time share in Williamsburg and that would be a good choice. Even in the off season there is plenty to do. Besides Colonial Williamsburg there are lots of good resturants and outlet shopping too. Pizza Man 10-17-2007, 06:33 AM Bud, are you familiar with room rates in Williamsburg? I'm afraid it may be a bit higher than we're used to. ONDLINKS 10-17-2007, 06:38 AM Besides Colonial Williamsburg there are lots of good resturants and outlet shopping too. Outlet shopping? The wife just said count us in. Pizza Man 10-17-2007, 06:44 AM Outlet shopping? The wife just said count us in. I'm trying to hide that bit of info from Jeanette! ;) :D brich 10-17-2007, 07:09 AM That's it for the Long Island meet? No more reports? No more pictures? No more stories? You're all on to the next meet already? Jeesh... Sounds like you guys have a touch of RADD.... Ridgeline Attention Deficit Disorder... I know some are probably itchin for another meet and soon but besides Pizza Man being tired, I think if you want to get attendants from outside the immediate meet area, you really have to plan out and give people time to plan on vacation time and saving up for such a trip. I would sure like to get the next big meet but for me to get to say, the Outer Banks, Roanoke or Niagra Falls, thats a vacation for me and not just a weekend Ridgeline meet...:D mdwalls 10-17-2007, 07:10 AM From October through April the room rates should be reasonable. All the major chains are there. A summer trip would be jammed with tourist. Those traveling from the north could also go via Rt 13 and cross the Bay Bridge Tunnel. It's worth the trip if you have never seen it. There are also a couple of parks for Jamestown and Yorktown. There are a couple of plantations in the area as well. Plenty to do. I would suggest before June because of crowds and heat. ONDLINKS 10-17-2007, 07:13 AM Bud, are you familiar with room rates in Williamsburg? I'm afraid it may be a bit higher than we're used to. Good job on the research, Dan. 63Tbird 10-17-2007, 08:44 AM I stayed in a La Quinta, ONCE!! Never again! But, seriously, Williamsburg and/or Roanoke area kind of sounds good. I would be up for early April, before the crowds. Careful Bud, We may make you head this one up :D alsridge 10-17-2007, 08:53 AM I would like to help on the next meet, Local or out of state. As Pizza Man stated, we need your help from down south or west to make this meet work. I would like to see it in the Spring time.:D I would start a new thread on this, and asked the Canada Ridgeline group to help with the Canada meet. I would ask TMac, where are you planning to have the National Meet. jforget1 10-17-2007, 09:01 AM brich is right, we did move on from this one a little fast, I think there are some attendees out there who have not chimed in to this point. Speak up there people. I have a couple shots from my iPhone I thought I would post, these guys were great, never seen a more consistent chew. But they got real lively when a couple dogs showed up, was pretty funny. Pizza Man 10-17-2007, 09:25 AM T Mac titled this thead "Recap and Stories From the Long Island Meet", so I thought I would do a little recapping from my point of view. Bear with me, it's a bit wordy! :o This was truly a Meet that experienced multiple member participation in its organization. Alrsridge, Allan, did a superb job with the leg-work involved in putting the Meet together out on Long Island. The Hotel, Vineyard and dinner location he chose turned out to be very enjoyable. Our rooms were nice and clean and the rates were more than reasonable and included a free Continental breakfast. The Vineyard treated us like royalty. How great was it to have their parking staff waving on all the Ridgelines into our reserved parking area? Allan also took care of securing our lunch. Hoagies and salads that really hit the spot. There was plenty to do at the vineyard and the time went by quickly. Allan hit another homer by choosing Charlie Brown’s Steak House for dinner. Very impressive. My dinner was very good, the salad bar was kickin’ and the service was outstanding. Especially when you take into consideration 35 of us walked in there at once. What a demand on the kitchen staff. Another terrific job, Allan. For me, the Meet started around 11:30 Friday morning when FTM1 arrived at my house. We weren’t planning on leaving for Long Island until 1:00 PM, so that gave me some time to get to know him a little better. He was followed by britimes2 arriving at around 12:30. It was good to see Britta, Brian and 3 year old Erik. He has grown a lot since I first met him at the Cape May Meet. Mdwalls arrived around 12:45 and we left for Long Island. It's always good to see Bud and Suzanne. They are good company. The drive started out OK, but when we reached the approach to New York we were in deep trouble. We got separated from each other and spent the next three hours in heavy, bumper to bumper traffic never going any faster than about 25mph. By the time we reached the Hotel, 4 ½ hours later, I was screaming for the men’s room and Jeanette needed a stiff drink. Friday night’s dinner was arranged by ONDLINKS. Dan chose a fine Italian Restaurant not far from the hotel. Nice atmosphere and good food. Our waiter was lacking a bit, almost to the point of being funny, to everyone but 63Tbird that is. His dinner was served very much after the rest of ours, then he never received his after dinner coffee until he begged for it. The waiter made up for it by giving him the dinner check for all of us. Trust me, you had to be there. It was truly funny. We all had a fun time at dinner. We returned to the hotel for a few more drinks and conversation in their lounge. Good job Dan, Jeanette and I enjoyed our dinners. 63Tbird supplied us all with Meet decals and of course he was responsible for their design. Andrew and his wife Grace also supplied the Meet Banner which was presented to the Dealership in appreciation for hosting us. We also gave them a few of the Andrew and Grace designed T-Shirts. Very professional design work guys. Everyone loved the T-Shirts and the Dealership will be displaying the Meet Banner. The Meet Banner also includes the ROC logo, so I suspect there will be a few new Long Island Members joining the ROC. For anyone who is feeling shy about attending Meets, please don’t be. They are fun events, attended by some of the best folks I ever had the opportunity to meet. alsridge 10-17-2007, 09:50 AM Joe: I couldn't say it better.:D Pizza Man 10-17-2007, 10:23 AM That's it for the Long Island meet? No more reports? No more pictures? No more stories? You're all on to the next meet already? Jeesh... Sounds like you guys have a touch of RADD.... Ridgeline Attention Deficit Disorder... Brian, this Meet was a lot of fun for me and I suspect for the others. I think that's why we're stating to talk about the next one. I agree with you, the more lead time we have the easier it will be to secure vacation time, if necessary. Personally, I'd like to wait until the location/locations are out for the next National Meet before I make definite plans on a Regional that may interfere. If you NE guys could get a quicky weekend Meet together, maybe in upstate New York, I'm sure you'd pick up a bunch of us Mid-Atlantic folks. I'd love to see Joe again and meet you and Oz. FTM1 10-17-2007, 03:00 PM Pizza Man says he was screaming for a bathroom on the LI Expressway. I was saying to myself what if I got to go nowhere to go I put down my bottle of water traffic was crazy. On the way to the Vineyard did anybody notice the guy in the Redrock Ridgeline comming towards us. It was on the same road the vineyard was on this guy was taking a good hard look at us. I was the next to last Ridgeline to get there. Pizza Man turned ahead of me at the stop sign I had to wait for traffic to clear before I made the turn. This guy had his head hung out the window looking. So he saw all the Rideglines as they passed him going the other way. Pizza Man 10-17-2007, 03:05 PM I saw him, Fred. I gave him a wave and I know he saw it. By the time he got to me he probably saw the 14 RL's in front of us. So no wonder he was hanging out of his window. I just received 5 e-mails from the Dealership. Each e-mail has 5 photos attached. I'll go through them later and post anything that hasn't already been posted. FTM1 10-17-2007, 03:21 PM Yesterday I also put the 2 ROC Decals each side on the back window of the truck. I felt kinda naked going up to NY without anything on but it's all done now they look great. I must have saw 5 or 6 Ridgelines on the way but none had stickers. One of them was right behind me for 15 miles on the LI Exspressway. I thought it was someone else going to the hotel Friday night. But he got off the exit just before the one for the hotel. 63Tbird 10-17-2007, 04:19 PM Joe, Well said!! And thanks everyone very leaving me with the check on Friday Night :D :D :D lol Fred, Glad you like the decals. For anyone I missed that was at Cape May and/or Altonna and would like a matched set, PM me your info and I will send them out. Pizza Man 10-17-2007, 06:56 PM Here are just a few of the photos taken by our hostess Rachel of Apple Honda's Customer Relations Department. The 1st Photo is what was left of the refreshments after the ladies got done with them! The dealership really liked 63Tbirds decal handiwork in the 2nd photo. I know I was in one of the group shots, was on the far left. Nice to be able to match up all the faces, I already know what I look like. Riding in Moe D's truck makes me wish I had a nav, maybe next time, was really cool hanging out with you guys. Even though you are Yankee fans. Pizza Man 10-17-2007, 07:32 PM Joe, Rachel seemed to be pretty impressed with your tailgating set up. She must have taken 5 shots of you setting it up. jforget1 10-17-2007, 07:45 PM Joe, Rachel seemed to be pretty impressed with your tailgating set up. Makes tailgating before an event fun. lou_vnj 10-17-2007, 08:26 PM Looks like Long Island was fun, I'd throw a vote in for a Williamsburg meet, the wife graduated from William and Mary, and loves it down there. mdwalls 10-18-2007, 03:49 AM Gina got an Accord, but what were the rest of our woman doing in that showroom ? mdwalls 10-18-2007, 03:51 AM Sorry Cathy, I'm awful with names. Stay tuned Lou, I'm sure a new Mid-Atlantic Meet thread will be started shortly. Gina got an Accord, but what were the rest of our woman doing in that showroom ? Jeanette was perusing the used car lot. Found a pilot she liked, then decided it was too big. Whew! Sorry Cathy, I'm awful with names. Suzanne and I enjoyed dinner with you Gary and your aunt Amy. Hope to see at the next meet. Bud Cath, I'm looking forward to seeing you fine folks again, too. Stick around and start posting more. mdwalls 10-18-2007, 06:38 AM Dinner at Lombardi's Friday night was a blast. Moe, your wife is a riot. I have a feeling you are never going to live down the roof story. See you at the next meet. Bud dbb 10-18-2007, 09:54 AM Sorry I missed this one but my wife and I were at a different 'ridgeline' meet :) Pizza Man 10-18-2007, 10:36 AM Awesome pictures Dave, looks like you and Kathy were having a great time. How long were you in China? My Brother and sister-in-law are there now dealing with paperwork problems associated with adopting their second Chinese baby. We sure missed you up on Long Island, but seeing the T-Shirt you were wearing in the last photo it appears we were in your thoughts. At least for a little while, anyway! :D mdwalls 10-18-2007, 10:54 AM Seeing your avatar, we missed you and Shorty. We had a great meet, hope to see you at the next one. Bud ASFC 10-18-2007, 09:53 PM well, apologies on taking so long to write, but I finally got around to it... Amanda and I left at about 8:30 am Saturday and got to the Dealership at about 9:20 (First ones to the dealership!!). We checked out a few of the new models Honda has out while waiting for the rest of the group to arrive. Definately had a blast at the dealership part of the meet, and at the vineyard. Dinner was fun and amanda and I had a great time. The big finale to the evening was displaying my FD lights to MoeD and the po-po coming up to me, demanding that I remove the flashing red lights from the rear of the vehicle (For those playing the home game, I did double-check the law regarding the rear-facing red, and it is allowed by new york state law, it just isnt found on the dmv website. Just goes to show that some people while charged with enforcing the law, don't actually KNOW the law). It was a great time, and it was good to finally meet allen, joe, moed, jerseyridge, raplon (who i have seen around before on the roads) and Joe with his swingset! plus the others I didn't get to know from the forum before we met. provided my work schedule complies with one in the spring/early summer, I am good to go for that event!!!! -Brian britimes2 10-19-2007, 06:28 AM Pictures from LI Once we were there, we had a great time. It just took a while to get there through New York City! This was some of the craziest traffic I've been in with the RL. We saw 2 accidents happen right next to us; I was ready to turn around - just didn't want to get to a Ridgeline meet without mirrors!! Well, we kept going; and we are glad we did. The vineyard was really nice, and we had a good time meeting new people and seeing others again. You see below that Joe was enjoying it, too. I would like to take this opportunity to really thank everyone involved in making this meet happen. Thank you again to 63Tbird for all the design work; you and Grace are a real pleasure to hang out with. Thank you also to Alsridge for the setup for hotel, lunch, and dinner, and to Ondlinks for organizing Friday's dinner; I know that's a lot of work. I would like to extend special thanks to my friend Joe who has done so much on this forum in getting people together. You check on me when I haven't been there for a while, you always ask about Erik, and you make me feel like family. To me, you are the spirit of friendship and support that keeps me coming back to the ROC. britimes2 10-19-2007, 06:31 AM Picture from LI We took Erik to the pumpkin patch after the vineyard. With all the wine we had, Erik had to do all the hard work :) Obviously, the horse must have had a lot of wine, too... britimes2 10-19-2007, 06:33 AM Pictures from LI dbb 10-19-2007, 06:53 AM Awesome pictures Dave, looks like you and Kathy were having a great time. We sure missed you up on Long Island, but seeing the T-Shirt you were wearing in the last photo it appears we were in your thoughts. At least for a little while, anyway! :D Hey Joe, we were there 10 days, 4 in Beijing, 3 in Xian, 3 in the Liu Yang area (Shaolin temple is near there, we went with our martial arts school and saw exhibitions of the best kung fu in the world). It was an amazing experience, full of contrasts. Downtown Beijing is modern and clean (they are gearing up for the 2008 Olympics) but in the countryside it's hardcore 3rd world with incredible air pollution. It's a communist dictatorship but with a capitalist economy and far less socialist than the US; no government welfare, health care, or retirement programs. Most Chinese have to work very hard all their life just to survive; as one tour guide succinctly put it, 'You lazy, you die.' It reaffirmed my appreciation of just how good we have it here in the U.S. BTW, you don't see many Japanese cars in China, the imports are mostly German (VW) and Korean (Hyundai). The Chinese still remember how the Japanese treated them in WW2. I saw a few Hondas but they were Accords. mdwalls 10-19-2007, 07:06 AM The Chinese have a longer memory than we do. Pizza Man 10-19-2007, 07:18 AM It reaffirmed my appreciation of just how good we have it here in the U.S. As exciting as it can be to travel, there's no place like home! I'm glad you guys are back and hope to see you soon! Pizza Man 10-19-2007, 08:04 AM You see below that Joe was enjoying it, too. I'm certainly a wine drinker. Next time we meet Britta, remember to ask me about how I got my picture into a German newspaper covering a local wine fest. :o :D I would like to extend special thanks to my friend Joe who has done so much on this forum in getting people together. You check on me when I haven't been there for a while, you always ask about Erik, and you make me feel like family. To me, you are the spirit of friendship and support that keeps me coming back to the ROC. Your words are far too kind. It's purely a selfish act on my part, Britta. When I get to meet people like you and your family I feel like I've been given a gift. Pizza Man 10-19-2007, 01:37 PM By the way, does anyone remember the screen name of the ROCer from Long Island that showed up at the dealership? 63Tbird 10-19-2007, 03:55 PM Soo Many People, Soooooo Many Names. I beleive he uses his proper name. Mike, up until we hit the tolls for the Goethals bridge we were doing fine. From that point on it was bumper to bumper, never exceeding 25mph. It's the first time in my life that I've ever seen an HOV lane come to a complete stop, multiple times! My return trip was on Rt 27 to the Southern Parkway. Congested, but moving steadily at 60mph. Thank God, Beth talked me out of going out on Friday......it was an omen I guess..... my 2 flat tires Friday morning kind of made me glad I didnt have to push to get there. Bud T Mac 10-23-2007, 07:32 AM Quick recommendation.... keep this thread about the NE Chapter Long Island Meet from October 2007 and start new threads for new meets. Pizza Man 10-23-2007, 07:43 AM Sorry Boss, it just kinda evolved on this thread. There is a Thread for this Meet in the Northeast Members section. I'd post the link, but for some reason the link icon is inop. mdwalls 10-23-2007, 08:22 AM Medford L.I. is the town we stayed in for the L.I. meet. That's why I posted the MOH Navy Seal here. Pizza Man 10-23-2007, 02:01 PM I just received an e-mail from Rachel at Apple Honda. I thought I would share it with you folks. As you may remember, Anne Marie was originally working with me on the arrangements, but took sick and missed the Meet. Hey Joe! How have you been? Anne Marie actually stopped by today. She's on her feet and feeling better, still in some pain, but feeling better. I gave her the rest of the t-shirts and we're going to give the remaining to our managers over here. She'll probably be in contact with you shortly. With the Ridgeline Rally pictures she wants to create a storyboard to display the pics. And about the banner, as we speak it is hanging in our service dept.. I'll send you a picture most definitely within this week once I get my hands on a digital camera. Anne Marie loved the pictures from the Rally and it was good to show her the faces of the people who really organized the whole event. Other than that, everything is going good over here and I've even passed out some of your business cards for the website that you gave me to Ridgeline and Element owners. The salespeople took some for their customers, so we are definitely helping to promote your website. Anyways, I will keep in touch and send you the pictures shortly. Thanks for your patience. Sincerely, Rachel I'll post the photos as soon as I get them. Pizza Man 10-31-2007, 12:41 PM Here's the photo of our Long Island Meet Banner being displayed in Apple Honda's Service Department. I hope to post a photo of it soon.
