So now that summer is over and we are getting ready to hunker down for the winter I thought I would float the idea of another meet. The first one over the summer went great. So what do you think. Date, Place Etc????

Like before maybe we could get Jeff to organize it :D

Im in,

I prefer Saturdays, and location really isnt a big deal to me. As long as there is beer & food involved.

I'm in also. Anywhere, and almost any day is good.

Where is everyone coming from? Maybe we can pick a good spot somewhere in the middle for a meet. I know where most of the folks from last time were coming from up north, and Jeff and myself from the south.

Next Saturday(10/27) is out for me, it is my daughters 1st birthday party, other than that my schedule is open.

oldcoastie
10-19-2007, 10:15 AM
OK. For our previous meet & drink and greet and drink and eat and drink, the group consisted of: Me (oldcoastie), chisoxjim, samhian1031, johnk1, Qxtreem, Mtnman, Directman, and ALGNET. I think there were a few more, but that's all I have on my list. Then again, I could be mistaken!

A Saturday is best for me. I guess the next thing is to determine which day everyone prefers.

Saturday or Sunday?

I vote for Saturday, and I'd prefer somewhere south, but I can be easy on the place. I can be easy, but I am not cheap! :D

Saturday seems more logical, since Sundays can involve church-related activities, and/or Bears games. The Bears have a bye on 11/4.

Maybe some NW Indiana owners would also be interested in the get-together.

10/27 is a no-go for Jim, and also for me.

These are the upcoming Saturdays.

11/3

11/10

11/17

11/24 is Thanksgiving weekend.

12/1

Anything after 12/1 and y'all will have to buy me a Christmas present! :p

chisoxjim
10-19-2007, 10:28 AM
Good to hear from you Jeff,

A south meet is preferable with me, but I will drive anywhere. I vote for Sat. 11/3. The sooner the better.

I also agree about the NW indiana folks.

Perhaps a meet @ Three Floyds in Munster, a brew pub I have never been but have heard great things about. Or perhaps one of my favorites, Flossmoor Station in Flossmoor. Just throwing some spots out there. Anyone else have any places they want to try, or return.

I couldn't make the last one but I would be interested in this one. 11/3 and thanksgiving weekend are not good for me.

oldcoastie
10-19-2007, 10:59 AM
Howdy, Jim! Flossmoor Station is a good place, but parking would be problematic, particularly for a group of us.

I have not heard of Three Floyds.

Irish-oriented Galway Tribes in Frankfort is a nice place, too. http://www.thegalwaytribes.com/map.php

Angelino's on 191st Street in Mokena has great sandwiches and a big selection of - uhhhh - adult beverages. It also has a large parking lot. http://angelinos.net/

Jeff,

I forgot about the parking issue downtown Flossmoor.

Three Floyds is a brew pub, that wins alot of awards for their beer. I hear alot of folks rave about them on some of the food/restaurant forums I belong to, and have been plotting a trip out there one way or another.

I am open to all suggestions/options, we will see if some of the folks up north want to come down south this time.

oldcoastie
10-19-2007, 11:47 AM
Here's a link to Three Floyds. http://www.threefloydspub.com/

But if no one comes from Indiana, and if you, zzzhondazzz, and I are the only southlanders, going to Indiana would be a little far afield.

We'll see how things develop. If it gets complicated, John has volunteered to step up and take charge! :p :p :D :)

Maybe if you went east a bit toward Indiana you could pick up some of us Ohioans.

johnk1

Being a northern guy I would prefer where we were last time. Seem to have enough parking and easy to get to. Any saturday is good for me up until t-day:D

My schedule has taken a dump.

The only Saturday I have left is 11/17.

But please do not plan this event around my ability to attend! I made the first one, and I'll probably make the third!

chisoxjim
10-23-2007, 09:30 AM
Seems like we have some interest, lets get a list going of those interested, and possible meeting spots.

I would go back up to Schaumburg again, or maybe a more central location perhaps Oak Brook, or the Yorktown area right off 88(plenty of watering holes, and food options in this area as well). Maybe lessen the drive for those of us down in the South, and Southwest sectors. Either way, location isnt a deal breaker for me.

All weekends in November are open for me, once December gets here the scedule gets more sketchy.

Hey Midwest/Chicagoland area Ridgeline owners!! Nice to finally run into some of you ... I am up for a meet and greet!! so add me to your list of contacts, please!!

I live in Elwood which is just south of Joliet. I am actually 6 miles south of Chicagoland Speedway/ Route 66 dragway off Rte 53 to be exact.

I am usually open any weekend, with a weeks advance notice. Let me know when plans are finalized ...

10-23-2007, 07:41 PM
I posted a date poll. Lets do that first then we can figure a place. I am leaning towards shaumber as of now cause we were all their last time. Maybe we could do that on the next poll

Hey Guys the further south you hold it the better chance I have to be able to run up that way. Might also see if T Mac wants to head up that way. let me know where you are meeting and I'll see if I can make it happen. Only 4 hours to Chicago. up and back.

How about Dave & Busters In Addison along Rt. 53/355. Easy access. They have food, brew, and an arcade. I haven't been there but have heard good things about it. Large parking lot.

JonBoy
10-24-2007, 06:32 AM
I am down with D & B's or Schaumburg, that's why I voted for both (probably should have picked one :o ... However, for a future South Location: Mr B's on 66 has an open parking lot, plus its Grill & Bar or Bar & Grill whatever is your poison ... ;) (I have never eaten there, but I hear the food is good ...)

Maybe we can time the next one with somthing going on at Chicagoland Speedway or Rte 66 dragway. I am a fan of 'Pink's' and they are supposed to be filming an espisode at Rte 66 in 2008. Perhap's WE can get ROC some TV exposure ??

chisoxjim
10-24-2007, 06:40 AM
mtnman,

good call on D & B's in Addison(about 15 mins less of a drive than Schaumburg for me, but I will go wherever). I voted for the weekend of 11/3, but I can do either. I feel the sooner the better.

Hey guys sorry I missed D&B's Well my mom fell down a flight of stairs and broke her wrist. She has a collies fracture and pretty scraped up. Besides managing the pain she seems to be all right. Pretty tough for an 83 year old grandmother.

She went to reach for the railing in the stair case and someone had taken it off. The elevator was shut off as well because someone was moving out. They don't want people moving furniture in the elevator because of the damages.

Needless to say I am going to have a talk with the management company:mad:

Hope you guys had fun!

Wow indeed that is one tough lady John. Im glad she will be ok. I cant imagine how they had the building setup like that. Nutso.

DnB was fun. Very small meet. 5 RL drivers in all. Myself, Jonboy, Mtnman, Chisoxjim and Algnet( Andy if I got SN wrong). We had lunch, a few drinks, and even played a few games ( Race cars and head to head basketball ).

I am ready for the next meet already :). Though its gonna get cold here soon. Lets go meet in say Arizona! :)
