Hello everyone,

My fiance got an 07 ridgeline a few weeks ago, and we've finally had it out camping and a bit of driving on the beach on the shore of NC. Lots of fun, although i definitely need to learn more about driving in the deep sand.

Anyway, we realized that the trunk doesnt stay open at all. From what i have read from searching for trunk threads, my only guess is we are missing something in the trunk. Anyone have any ideas?

We were hoping it would be an easy fix rather than taking it to the dealer.

thanks!

The trunk has very weak supports. If you have anything on the lid of the trunk, it won't stay open at all. We made a couple of little braces that we keep in the trunk for the times we need the trunk to stay open. We have carpet in our truck bed, so it will never stay open on its own without taking the carpet out.

Like Truckin' said, any bed liner at all will hold the lid down. I too use a prop or support. Mine's a 20" piece of 1" pvc supported on the right ledge. A piece of 1 by wood would work very well too.

If you have nothing in the bed, then ask the dealer to look at it.

I have a piece of padded carpet in the bed, and it stays open with that on top of it. When it rained though, and the carpet got soaked, it wouldn't stay open.

My prop rod is just a piece of 1/4" doweling. It slides in underneath the edge of the spare tire (full size) when not in use.
