How is it on the other Honda models? zero 02-06-2005, 09:49 AM The Navi screen is multifunctional. It shows the radio stations, XM stations,, and CDs. It also can be used for certain system settings, such as screen brightness. I will try to post some screen shots of the screen from my '05 Ody later today. zero 02-06-2005, 02:29 PM Here are the pictures. Fast600 02-07-2005, 08:46 AM Thanks ZERO pics look awesome ! :) I'm definitely getting the Navi system klomp63 03-06-2005, 12:12 PM On the Navi system, does it give you turn by turn directions with speech or does it only display location. Is there a site we can look at specifications on how it is updated etc, monthly costs? zero 03-06-2005, 12:38 PM The Nav system in the Ody gives you turn by turn directions. There is no monthly cost. I have no idea how often updates are available nor do I know how much they will cost. When I had my Infiniti, then updates were yearly and ran about $200 for the DVD. vertrkr 03-06-2005, 01:29 PM Ridgeline uses the same system as the Ody. Honda has a FAQ about it here; http://hondanavi.com SHERRIE 03-06-2005, 04:33 PM I Would Like For The Pedals To Extend Out Further In My Ridgeline. What Is The Best Way To Do That. I Am 5'2" And When I Scoot Up To Touch The Pedals My Knees Are Too Close. Heinrich 03-06-2005, 04:40 PM Your seat has full height and pretty much every other adjustment...can't you adjust these settings to satisfy? I found the electronic adjustments to great...of course compared to a CRV ;) AHart 03-06-2005, 05:44 PM Thanks for posting the pics of your Ody nav screens Zero. That really helps me see what it can do. I have been waiting for nav, and now I am glad I am holding out. I hope the comments aren't true, that RTLs with nav are in short supply. drouke 03-15-2005, 06:15 AM I picked up my RTL last thursday. It doesn't have the navi unit but I am now seriously thinking of adding it. Does anybody have any idea what the cost is? Zero Could you please post a pic of the Aux input that is supposedly above the glove box? zero 03-15-2005, 08:50 AM Here is a picture from Honda's website. Mr Manxter 03-15-2005, 09:24 AM Any chance that the song titles show up from my iPod when attached to the navi? zero 03-15-2005, 11:06 AM I am an iPod user as well but unfortunately I doubt that song titles will show up on the navi screen. I don't have my Ridgeline yet so someone who already has their truck and an iPod may be better equiped to answer. Ridge 03-15-2005, 11:44 AM I don't think the dealer will add navigation. I think that comes from the factory. I could be wrong. I imagine it would be about $2,000 since that's the price difference between a RT-L/moonroof and RT-L / navigation vertrkr 03-15-2005, 11:53 AM I don't think the dealer will add navigation. I think that comes from the factory. I could be wrong. I imagine it would be about $2,000 since that's the price difference between a RT-L/moonroof and RT-L / navigation If it's anything like how the Ody was made there's no way. One guy on the odyclub.com inquired with Honda and actually got the VP & factory engineers involved and concluded it was near impossible or rather cost prohibitive as the whole car would just about have to be taken apart and new wiring harnesses added which the dealer would not be able to handle. He eneded up trading in his 2 week old Ody for a Nav version one. Think he took like a $5000 hit on that one. Another option is to add a 3rd party system like Pioneer's which is pretty darn cool: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/mec/category/two/0,,2076_3149,00.html zero 03-15-2005, 03:29 PM I wouldn't be surprised if they couldn't add it in later. It is a very integrated solution and, as vertrkr stated in his reply, probably would be cost prohibitive to retofit it. What I am surprised at is that the rear dvd is not factory only like in the Ody. I looked over the install pdf and it looks like almost the whole truck interior is involved with the install. I'll bet service departments are going to hate putting that in a vehicle. 06RTLNAVBlue 03-15-2005, 08:13 PM The camera view shows up on the nav screen. Great feature for trailering and backing. Camera is about $250 although installation is about $800 (approx. 10.5hrs). I definitely want the camera although I might install myself or wait for Christmas :)!!! reddwarf 03-16-2005, 12:17 PM I am an iPod user as well but unfortunately I doubt that song titles will show up on the navi screen. I don't have my Ridgeline yet so someone who already has their truck and an iPod may be better equiped to answer. Just got mine with Navi. No the songs dont show from the IPOD. But it still sounds great. Better than an FM modulator. Ultra-HOG 04-07-2005, 08:10 PM I am waiting for my RTL-Navi to be built. ETA 5/7/05. On the stand-alone XM radios there is a feature where you can enter a list of artists or a group of songs. When the artist or song is played on any XM channel, the radio will beep and display the title for five seconds. Pressing the XM button at that time will take you directly to that channel. Does the Ridgeline XM have that feature? I really like it on my stand-alone unit. fimduc 04-07-2005, 09:48 PM Nope....on the XM feature you mention.. I have the Delphie SkyFI II in my other vehicle and that feature is nice ( the whole SKYFI unit is nice), but on the RIdge all you can do with the XM ( non-nav) is push a buttin to scroll from artist to song title to station . All in all I think that Honda left out many good features for XM. Geez, you got about 200 channels and I have yet to figure out a way that you can directly enter in the station number. IF you want station 152, you have to scroll through the category button. Yeah you can save your 12 favorite channels on "XM-1 and 2" again no way to enter a channel. And the screen could easily have been multi lines so you could see artist and song title together. Love the truck , but leaving out simple features like this and no simple "distance to empy computer" for fuel is simply ignorance by Honda engineers. Ultra-HOG 04-07-2005, 10:08 PM Rats! I like the favorite artist feature. I use it all the time on my Skyfi II. I will give you an Amen! as to the lack of trip computer / miles to empty feature. Thanks for the info. Whaleya 04-07-2005, 10:35 PM The only way I have found to enter an XM channel directly is to use the voice prompt, however it''s slow and error prone. Why doesn't Honda offer a 10-key on the nav display to directly enter a station?? Another gripe is the alphabet for entering a route. I can either say the letter (error prone) or use Honda's words for each letter (Sam, apple, etc). I would like to see the standard miliatary code as an option - everyone know it or knows most of it already. fimduc 04-08-2005, 09:34 AM Wow.....no direct entry of station for XM on the Nav unit...................I thought the touchscreen had a key pad............It really is a poor appilcation of a head unit for XM........200 channels and you effectively can't access them without scrolling through the category list. I wanted the sunroof so the XM was included, but I may very well let the free subscription lapse and do an install of the Delphi Skyfi II by using the 14 pin connector that is dedicted to the built in XM. That should provide the clarity and acuracy that is lacking in the FM modulation.. Heck, with the SKYfi you get a nice little remote control. Ranger 1 04-19-2005, 09:06 AM Does the Navi have a rear view camera? If so, where is the camera mountedklklk? TonyS 04-19-2005, 09:53 AM Fimduc, you can voice input any XM station if you have a Navi by saying "XM Channel" and then the number. Tony BannedUser 04-19-2005, 10:01 AM Great pics Zero!!!! I love my "ivaN". And I love the calendar. I have loaded almost the whole summer of Kart races for my son and details. When we get in the 'Line to go to a race, it says... "Points Race 2 9 am Good Luck" I love it. I can even tell it to say good morning JC!! What a cool thing. Todd 08-17-2005, 09:06 PM If you have purchased the rear tailgate camera option the Navi Screen will also display live camera images when the vehicle is the reverse gear. This is really a cool option. Truckin' 08-17-2005, 09:26 PM Does the Navi have a rear view camera? If so, where is the camera mountedklklk? I got NAV so that we could have the backup camera installed and I would have the input jack to connect my iPod. XM was a bonus, one that I loved. We had the camera dealer installed. It's a very complicated install. Click this link and you will see the truck torn all apart. The camera by Honda standards is mounted on the tailgate to the right of the handle. Vertrkr put the camera in a better looking place, centered, below the handle. I think the backup camera is essential! | |
