I just found this section thanks to MoosePond. I have the Pentax K10D and the ist DS. Anyone else shooting Pentax? I took this up as a pre-retirement hobby a couple of years ago. I should have taken up something less expensive....like collecting small jets!!! But it's fun and I now have a couple of hundred shots of my new Ridgeline.
Yes, I also have the Pentax K10D. Probably one of the best buys out there. We have a lot of dust out here and my old film Canon's just couldn't hack it. When I saw the Pentax was dust proof I jumped. Sure glad I did.:D

I've been very happy with the K10D. As soon as I learn how to post pics, I'll put up some. Do you happen to have a wide angle lens for your? If so, which brand?

I don't have a Pentax but do have a Canon DSLR, i've noticed that the more i get into it and buying some equipment for portraits, its getting expensive. That's including lens too. Its one of those hobbies that you think you can control expenses but it sometimes gets out of hand :D and away from you.

Sometimes it gets out of hand is an understatement my friend! I have to force myself to stay away from the camera stores now. Which model Canon do you have? Pentax, Canon and Nikon are all excellent cameras. Besides, no matter which camera you use, it's the eye of the photographer that makes the picture.i

You know what, i do believe you, when i see a camera store, it seems i actually have to go in and check it out. Even though i don't really need anything. I have a Canon Rebel XTi, i started with a simple sony cybershot point and shoot, then upgraded to an Olympus 35mm film SLR to get the experience of actually shooting and took a class at the same time, then finally upgraded to what i have now. I just recently bought a lens to start adding to my collection, a Tamron AF28x300mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di lens and maybe getting an external flash Canon 580EXII, and after the flash, i may get a Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM...and the list goes on  :D

Right you are Anthony. I started with a 2 mpix HP, then the 5 mpix, the Pentax Ist DS SLR and now the K10D. I've spent a fortune on lenses. The latest being the Sigma 50-500. It goes for $1600 up here but what a lens. I also have the 70-300 which would be similar to yours. Anothyer real nice lens is the Sigma 105. It's a terrific macro and portrait lens, runs about $500.
Good thing I bought all this before retirement!
