Hey guys I need a little opinion on a MOD... I plan on putting some aftermarket tail lights on my ridge. I am just not sure if they would be worth it. Has any of you installed similar lights? Any problems like installation, cracking, water leaks? Let me know, I would appreciate your feedback. THANKS!!!

I'm waiting for LED versions to come out, to me these Euro lights are a little out dated. Just my 02cents.

I bought a set off of Ebay, right after I got my RTX this year. They are Altezza with smoke colored lens. The only problem I noticed with them was that one side was not sealed proprely and some water spots from condensation on the inside after I washed the RTX. I had to take them off for a couple of weeks to dry out and then sealed around the entire edge on the back with RTV clear sealant. Have not had a problem since then.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

No worries MrAC...actually the reason why I want these so that they would match my smoked headlights but I'm a bit hesitant to apply the same film on my tails.

Craig, thanks for the input...the condensation issue is really my main concern, and worried that when summer hits, the sealants might get brittle to quickly for these kinds of aftermarkets. I did see those smoked altezzas on ebay, I think these are different.

Now for some thinking.

Hey PODO, how do you like your tinted headlights? I'm running HIDs and am thinking the tint would tone them down a little bit. Does the tint hold up well to rocks, etc? Easy to put on and take off if needed? Is that stuff just regular tint or do you know if it is something stronger? Thanks.

Yeah I do like them very much but definitely the lights are dimmed. I've heard feedback that others replace their lights with stronger ones to compensate so I think your HIDS would be fine. You gotta check though if these are legal over there. I haven't changed my bulbs as the streets over here are pretty well lit so you might have to consider road conditions over there...I used to live in Jersey for a while and there were times I had to squint to see the road on "unsmoked" headlights.

The tints are a different material from what is used on windows. They are pretty thick (enough to protect from rocks) and malleable which makes them easy to install...I don't know about taking them off though. You can check out www.rockblocker.com and give them a call as well. Hope I was able to help!

Bill do you have any pics of those lights that you installed. Just want to see how they look as I haven't seen any modified RL tailights here. Thanks - Chris

Try the search and look under "Taillight replacement". I installed the Altezza's on my Ridgeline and really like the look, as well as all the compliments on them.
While I am logged on, just want to wish everyone a Safe and Happy Holidays.

I've never understood the point of headlight/taillight blackout kits except for on show vehicles, but that's just me. The alternate taillight deals aren't so bad though, but I'd prefer one with the amber turn signal like is on the originals instead of two reds.

Thanks justtoby...excellent reference and they indeed look great! Yeah John I saw the similar lights with the amber turn signals but I am leaning towards the red/black...but then again...LOL

Right now I am still thinking about the replacements as I also have an option to use the similar smoked film on the tails...unless I have a very good reason just like Toby...and I'm really thinking of one

Oh I like the 20% smoked headlight Rockblockers I'm all over that, I'm attempting to BOB the whole truck. Unlike some people I like the Honda accessory's the black taillight trim looks nice.

I have tried to look for aftermarket parts for the RIDGE but came across nothing. The next place is the WWW but don't really feel comfortable with that route.

Where is everybody finding the aftermarket taillights?
What sites can I find them at?

for the love of god people, why on earth would you put Altezza lights on a Ridgeline or any other vehicle for that matter. Do you guys know what a ricer is? Go to urbandictionary.com and look it up. If you buy those lights, you've just joined the ricer crew:rolleyes:

Just so you know ALL sets of Altezza lights fog up and it gets even worse in the summer time. Trust me, JUST SAY NO TO RICER LIGHTS!

I have the exact set picture for about a year now on my Black Ridge and no problem to date and it looks great too. No water leaks or fogging, installation a breeze with no issues. Just my 2 pennies.

Your best bet for aftermarket lights and parts is good ole eBay. That is everything on my truck came from, just gotta do your research before purchasing anything. I've said this in previous posts that I'm waiting for someone to come out with an LED tail light, just my .02
