nohr14 12-06-2007, 04:17 PM I bought a bug shield less than six months ago (good purchase - but a major headache to actually recieve from the place I purchased it) and I was walking around the front of my truck the other day, and a very large chunk of it was gone (actually the whole left piece that sits above the light). Kinda sucks since I spent over $100 on it. Now I'm in the market to buy another. Any suggestions on the best and lowest place to purchase. Thanks
xridgelinex 12-06-2007, 04:30 PM Welcome to the ROC.... Was it the OEM one? I have that one and have not had any problems. It is nice and strong.
RamzeyRTX 12-06-2007, 05:07 PM I have an AVS and its nice. Very easy to install and have had no issues. It was like 48 bucks!
I have the Lund Interceptor bug shield. Got it locally for 65.00.
I like it because it's given me (going-on) two years of scratch-free satisfaction.
I've used plastic polish on it a few times with excellent results.
There have been times, when walking around the front of the truck, that I've caught the end of the guard with my jacket, and it flexed enough so that it didn't break.
Welcome to the ROC, and good luck with your choice of replacement.
breakfastchef 12-06-2007, 05:48 PM Seems to me that your broken bug shield saved damage to your hood or windshield. I am using the Wade clear defector paineted the color of my Ridgline - total cost around $100.
SuperChris7 12-06-2007, 05:56 PM I have the OEM bugshield. I like it! You can get it for a good price on H&A. I bought mine at the dealer as part of my car deal.
VOLinGA 12-06-2007, 06:07 PM Go with the Wade OEM shield. You can get it in clear for $36+ shipping from Nulime. Less bulkey than the Honda OEM shield and like BfastChef stated, you can paint the back of it to match your RL. It really blends well with the rest of the truck.
I checked out the Honda OEM but did not like the look for the bolts from the front and did not like the center rest against the hood. And it costs too much.
Do a search on "Wade Hood Deflector - Body Colored" and you will see excellent examples in that post.
Good Luck.

Do you know what broke it? It may have protected your RL from something bad, or someone may have broken it at the mall etc. Just wondering.
My wife's CRV's bug shield was broken by someone walking by and catching it on something. They placed the broken part in the windshield wiper well. Only reason we found it was because it vibrated over 45mph. I ended up gluing the big part back on, minus a small piece. Still cheaper than a new one.
I've got the OEM one as well on the RL as part of the purchase.

Or, you could look here (http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6473&highlight=invisible).
Mtnman 12-07-2007, 05:33 AM Go with the Lund they have a life time warranty . They already have replaced mine once, with no hassle. The dealer even ordered after I called so I could bring in the broken one and exchange for new one in one trip. Fell off a ladder and stumbled into the RL hood and it broke. The one on my van is 12 yrs. old with no problems. Get a clear one and paint it on the back side to match body color.
nohr14 12-07-2007, 09:16 AM WOW! Thank you all for the information. It is very helpful. I will make sure to check out all of the manufactures you all listed. What I great site! I am so pleased with this feedback.
Some of you commented that I was probably lucky because whatever hit the shield could have damaged the truck - and I totally agree. I'm glad that all I lost was the chunk of plastic on the shield.
Thanks again for all of your feedback!
Truckin' 12-07-2007, 01:01 PM Southern Idaho? Looks like you're standing in front of Mesa Falls, if that's you in your avatar.
Welcome to the ROC. Before your buy another, did you contact the place you bought yours to see if it's covered for damages? Maybe they will replace it.
Ours is the Honda OEM and we like it. It has just enough clearance from the hood that I don't have any trouble reaching in a retrieving the few leaves that end up under it each fall.
nohr14 12-07-2007, 01:08 PM Yes, that is me and yes I am in front of Mesa Falls. I love it there. I will contact the company I purchased it from. I didn't even think of that. Thanks!
Truckin' 12-07-2007, 01:25 PM That is a beautiful spot. I know you're going to learn a lot on the ROC. One of the best things is the bunch of knowledgeable and friendly people you get to interact with.
Let us know how this turns out for you. We're interested if you get a replacement or you get a different deflector brand. If you change brands you can tell us what you like/dislike about each.
nohr14 12-07-2007, 01:27 PM Thank you so much. I will definately do that. I'm loving this site already and it is only my second day!
Otter68 12-08-2007, 05:51 AM I bought a bug shield less than six months ago (good purchase - but a major headache to actually recieve from the place I purchased it) ...
What kind is the broken one and where did you purchase from? Thanks.
nohr14 12-09-2007, 10:18 PM I purchased it from Rich Roush Honda (online) and it is OEM. I have called and left a message and have not heard back yet. So, I am going to call again tomorrow to see if there is any kind of warranty for it. I hope so. I will keep you all posted. Thanks!
nohr14 12-10-2007, 01:27 PM Well the saga continues...I talked to the company I purchased it from and they told me I could come in and they could look at it and see if it was defective. Well that is kinda hard, considering they are in Ohio and I am in Idaho. So they suggested that I go to our local Honda dealer and see what they say. Well, I did that, and they said that I probably got a rock and the deflector is meant for bugs not rocks. So they will not cover it. So now I guess I am back to researching the sites that you all told me about. So frustrating since I shelled out over $150 for this product in July and it is now December and I have to get another one.....urgh....
VOLinGA 12-10-2007, 02:40 PM The Wade OE shield is $50 shipped on nuLime.
