The Raider Topper

I posted this on another category and didn't receive much response.

I really am tired of my BakFlip tonneau cover. It leaks like crazy, limits the size of anything you want to put under it and is showing signs of failure after a little more than one year.

Yet, I'll be darned if I'll pay $2,500 to the local Honda Stealer for a Leer, much less $1,950 to the local Leer dealer if I can get something suitable for less. I am not brand conscious in the slightest.

So has anybody installed a Raider Nomad II (or maybe III) on their Ridgeline and, if so, what do you think?

I can have the local Raider dealer install and paint it, plus front slider window for $1,748.00. 200 bucks is 200 bucks if it's a good product.

I think this is a handsome topper at a reasonable price. You might have to fiddle around to find the actual picture. Click on the white truck and it will pop up into the large picture screen.

I contacted you via PM about raider top and now I would like other people to know that I had placed my order for a Nomad II several weeks ago and I'm looking forward to delivery and install. I will advise everyone on the overall quality, time frame, issues etc...

Hello again,

Raider Industries customer services rep., Sharlene P. informed me that Raider, outsources the glasswork for the doors and that was the holdup. Tops should be shipping soon.

I can't wait and I won't forget the pics.

I actually do live in Hawaii but the ridgeline is on the mainland. The ridgeline will be shipped to Hawaii after we (wife and I) drive through several states with a pop-up trailer, on our vacation this spring.

Yeah, me too!

I'm still waiting for that phone call from my dealer to tell me the toppers' here and ready to be installed.

BTW, On recent inquiry to Raider Industries I asked "who owns Raider Industries?" I was told both Raider and Leer are sister companies and are owned by TAG. I then inquired about the mold used by Leer and Raider. The Representative stated that Raider uses a completely different mold. I hope it's a great mold. We will see.

Just a quick update: called my dealer on Friday and asked about the topper. He told me that the toppers are still in production.:confused:

I then sent out an email to a Ms. Pollock, Raider Indus., inquiring when will the top get to my dealer. From a previous message she had stated that there was a issue with the back glass (contracted out) that was resolved and shipping wouldn't be an issue. That was three weeks ago. :confused: :confused: :confused:

It was late when I sent the email out so I guess I will get a reply on Monday.

So much for $200.00 bucks. Is it still worth it? Did you look at A.R.E.?

You know, one of the problems with all the toppers, so far as my research reveals, is that the bottom of the back door doesn't drop down below the top of the tailgate; thus you can't really "lock" the storage area.

Does anybody know any different?

re: locking

I dont own one but I have been researching them, and from what I can tell-
the RL tailgate locks first (somewhat simplistically) to one of the back cargo tie downs inside. then when you close the tailgate of the cap, it locks to itself (bottom of window locks to sides of cap inside) making it "secure"

Apparently I got the run around from Raider Industries for the past 8 weeks.
My dealer said he sent the information in to order the topper but 8 weeks later Raider Industries has no record of it. HMMMM??? I'm mad, :mad: what a waste of time. Okay it's time to climb the corporate ladder and see if I can get satisfaction. Just a few minutes ago I called the corporate office of JB Poindexter & Co that owns Truck Accessory Group that Raider Indus. comes under (say that 5 times quickly;) )and left a message for one of their Vice Presidents that represents Raider Indus.. Hopefully I get a call back soon if not I'll call his boss and so on till I get an acceptable answer. :mad: :mad: *&()*%^#%@$@^$^)*(*(&%*&#&$*&*(%#&&$@U*(&*(&*%&*(^#&(

Till I get this resolved I would suggest you don't order a topper from Raider Indus. which is a sister company of Leer. Which is owned by Truck Accessories group which is owned by Poindexter & Co. WHEW!

In Easy speak or layman terms: Raider is owned by "?" and a subsidiary of "who" and bought by "them" and managed by "we don't care!"


Maybe it's time to try an A.R.E. Topper. Anyone know who makes and owns A.R.E? LOL
