10" Bazooka or custom box and sub?

I have a challenge... Can anyone quantify an answer to this vague question?

10" 200W Bazooka Tube @ $250 vs. ED SQ10, the popular "behind the rear seat custom box" and yet to be determined amp @ approx. $400...

I previously had the 8" 100W tube installed and I was actually surprised with the sound, but as most can assume, it's not enough to really finish the system with a high quality, rich sound. I thought I would give the 10" tube a chance, which I have ordered, but now I am wondering why I haven't committed to getting the custom box and sub.

I would appreciate any thoughts, suggestions or experiences.

Also, I can't find the ED box that is mentioned so many times in other threads listed on EDs website. I take it is a custom box request? If so, does anyone know pricing with no finish? My maintenance director is a cabinet maker and I'm sure could put the box together quickly with some specs, so if someone out there has design specs, could you pass them on?

Hi Jhawker,

I tried my 10" Bazooka amped tube under the rear seat... wouldn't fit with the seats down.

Just wonderin' if your tube is a different size, and where you planned on mounting it.

Mine's the old RS10A-HP.

I think the maximum height available under the rear seat is just over 9 inches. That's why no one has forward facing woofers larger than 8 inches under the seat. They must face up or down. A Bazooka tube is roughly the diameter of the woofer so a 10 inch unit will not fit.

I did like bazookas and SAS in general until I heard real woofers. Back in the day had 10 x 6.5's in my blazer, then moved to 4 10"s. To me they were overall low in quality and performance. The 10's are enormous and will not fit under your back seat.
The extra money for the ED woofer and stealth box will be well worth it.

-It fits in the stock subwoofer location behind your rear seat and will not take up any more room in your cab.
-It will not be visable behind your rear seat and cannot be stolen without removing the rear seat completely  .
-A real woofer, with a real enclosure, that WON'T roll around :D
-Your choice of amplifiers. Big or small and easily upgraded for your future audio installs.
