dgnizer 12-14-2007, 06:23 AM Does anyone know if the Iphone uses the same jack as the Ipod? I saw some threads talking about the Ipod hooking up to the HU. I got an Iphone for Christmas :D and I would like to use it as an mp3 player for my car. I used the search button but nothing productive showed up. Thanks.
dgnizer 12-14-2007, 06:25 AM No need to reply, I found the answer. Thanks.
e_piph_a_ny 12-14-2007, 08:18 AM How about posting the answer for future reference? I don't have an iPhone but who knows? ;)

I second that! I hate reading a thread looking forward to the answer to just find a "problem solved" note without the solution.
(I dont have an iPhone either - it's just the principal <grin>)
crimsonaudio 12-14-2007, 08:55 AM I have an iPhone, and it looks as if the USA Spec box will work with it, but I'd prefer hearing from someone who's done it before committing...
zroger73 12-14-2007, 11:08 AM I don't care to disassemble my dash to install an interface, so I just used a headphone adapter. The Belkin adapter that Apple has on their web site is long and ugly. A headphone adapter is required for the iPhone when using most 3rd party headphones or 1/8" patch cables. After researching all the adapters out there, I ordered this one from Smartphone Experts. Works perfectly to allow my iPhone to play through my AUX jack.

dgnizer 12-14-2007, 11:30 AM I'm sorry if I left you guys hanging. Here is the website I saw that works with the Iphone. Some forum members had recommend this as well. It hooks up to the back of your stereo so some disassembly is required. Good luck.

e_piph_a_ny 12-14-2007, 11:36 AM I thought so!
I answered this question in another thread. So if you use the search function, your question would have been answered!

Anyone using their iPhone with the USA Spec adapter yet?
I just installed a usaspec hon2y ipod adapter in my RL.
Current firmware revisions of the iPhone and iPod Touch (1.1.3) will not work in hybrid mode. You have to select Direct mode. If you leave the unit in Hybrid mode, the iPhone/touch screen flashes and the usaspec unit never correctly recognizes it.
Direct mode works great - you can still control playback from the iPhone screen and/or the steering wheel/head unit controls.
John01XX 02-19-2008, 08:09 AM Ok lets try this again !!!
I have an iPhone and a new 2008 Ridge RTL w/aux input
The aux input is a female socket and the iPhone has a female socket where the head phones plug in.
Do I just buy a male to male adapter to join the iphone to the aux input ??

That is correct, just make sure it's a stereo plug (most are) not mono.

Unless one end of the cable is specifically designed to fit the recessed 1/8" headphone plug in the iPhone, you'll also need an adapter in addition to a 1/8" male-male cable.
Here's the adapter I use that works great...

You can use Aux Mode or Direct mode. Direct mode gives you more capabilities, and since direct mode is line input levels, you have a single volume control via the head unit.
Aux mode will take the headphone jack of your iPhone, so you'll end up with two volume controls... one on your iPhone and the other on the head unit.
I installed both. I can play my iPod through either the iPod connector or, the Aux input which I installed in the bin beneath the radio unit. I can use the Aux input to play my Zune.
