View Full Version : Mighty Toyota 4x4 Tundra Recalled?
I heard something on the news yesterday about the Tundra 4x4 getting recalled. It had something to do with the drivetrain shaft. I wasn't really paying attention at that time. I was saying to myself not the Mighty TUNDRA
anybody else here this news.

It's just a safety recall campaign... common in the industry. The Ridgeline has several of these as well.
Nothing to get excited about.

Unless, of course, you're Toyota's marketing/PR department. Particularly after the Consumer Reports article lowering their reliability rating. Here's an article on the subject:

Just my 02 vehicle recalls just seem to be part of our live's, ya maybe some more than others. And you no what we mortals are on the recall list we just don't know when. I lost a very close friend to-day,he was on his computer when his wife found him on the floor. Lets enjoy our precious time on earth, we can fix them recalled vehicles.

Aww c'mon guys, you're picking at straws..
The Toyota Tundra breaks a driveshaft and the driver/owner gets stranded. When did any of you guys get stranded from a loose visor clip or tweeter cover?
Oops wait, who can say "Fuel Pump Relay".;) :D

Consumer Reports should have never rated the RL reliability so high in their original test two years ago. They had not yet conducted an owner survey that included the RL. I have been a CR subscriber for 20 years.
CR HAD NO RELIABILITY DATA ON THE RL when they first rated the truck. They "predicted" the reliability based on past Honda reliability and some commonality with the Pilot. I think CR was stupid for doing so. This same thing caused them problems with the new Camry. So CR changed is policy to not rate reliability until they have data for new or updated vehicles.
Those on this site the last two years know quite a few RLs had a severe water leak. And a few other minor problems.
That said - my RL has never been to the dealer for unscheduled service after 26 months and 37000 miles. Just an annoying rattle in my dash. :(
