I recently installed an OEM trailer hitch on my Ridgeline. Upon hooking up the trailer harness to the hitch harness to test to see if the trailer brake lights work is where I found trouble. Although my rear brake lights were working, those on the trailer were not. Im not sure if its something I did on my end of the lights on the trailer were out, although I remember when my friend help me move my trailer with his car (an explorer) the lights worked fine. I have not had time to trouble shoot anything due to not having time. Help me out if you can. Thanks.

make sure you have a good ground, both on the trailer and the vehicle. a bad ground connection can drive you nuts wondering what the heck is wrong.

^^ What he said. Usually it's surface rust on the trailer ball or the cup that fits the ball; sometimes new paint, that prevents a good ground. After driving (and it "grinding" a bit) it will clean itself and make a better ground.

Check the pins on your truck with a test light for power first.
