I am going to be towing a 3000# dry weight travel trailer. (Approx 4,000# loaded) The local Honda dealer suggested I NOT get a load leveling hitch. He even showed me in the owners manual where it is not recommended by Honda. Anyone have experience with this?
Thanks in advance!!!

Tigerb8t--I see you've found the extensive views on this subject in prior posts. You'll find the RL to tow very well without a weight distribution hitch providing you keep the tongue weight within factory allowances. That said, I had a leftover WDH setup on my 2900 # trailer before I bought the RL. I hooked it up, but didn't use the tension setting, as it adversely affected the handling of the RL (did a comparo). Just didn't need it, which is a pleasant surprise. I only used it for the anti-sway setup, which is nice when big rigs blow by or you blow by them--rock solid towing vehicle unlike any previous truck that I have towed with. Good luck!!

ToyTruck....I see you live in Nashville...... ever towed your trailer over Mont-Eagle???? If so how did it do? We are considering taking our new TT out to Centerhill next summer.... hope the ridge can do a good job with that!
You are right the ridge seems to be a rock solid truck..... actually much better than the truck we had a few years back and it was a V-8?1?!?
Have a happy new year!!

Tigerb8t---yes, we went up the Monteagle grade and lived to tell about it <g>. (We are now in Spring Hill, south of town by about 35 minutes.) Actually the RL did very well on that hill since 3rd gear can conquer the really steep side at 60-65 mph. I was surprised since my 02 Ram had to work a lot harder with the 4.7 V8; often times shifting into "high" second gear and screaming at 4200 rpm (Dodge had a hi and lo 2nd gear that year). I figure my 2780 pound (dry) rig weighed about 3200 pounds loaded up. As with anything (hard drives, amplifier/speaker requirements, towing limits etc.,) keeping 25-40% below max limits is a good idea in order to have a safety cushion. Have a great New Year and good luck up to the lake!
