My CD player doesn't work very well when it's cold. So I searched the forum and found that CD players in '06 RL's with Navi had a history of this problem, so off to the dealer I went. According to the paper work the tech order a replacement unit - Model 4AS2. Is this going to be a behind the dash replacement of the CD unit or the whole radio/CD/Navi unit it self? I didn't get to speak with anyone when I picked up my truck.
Thanks

I believe that's the headunit itself. On my headunit, the code 3TS1 is printed in the lower right corner of its faceplate. I noticed that the early 2006 production trucks radios did not have this code printed there. This may be the revision code of the headunit.

I'm not really clear on just what the headunit is?

The headunit is the radio.
Man, the whole shebang huh - radio, CD & Navi unit combined? Besides being able to play CD's without skipping, am I getting any other benefit of a new headunit compared to the original? Like other bugs that have been worked out over the years?

I don't know anything about the part number you listed or what your dealer is replacing, but I just ordered an OEM head unit for an '06 RL with navi for a CarPC project. The CD changer and head unit are 2 separate pieces of equipment. The head unit in the navi system is just a tuner. In the non-navi RTL, the head unit and CD changer are combined into 1 piece. Hope that helps...
