First, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!!!
We have search high and low for the family TT and settled on these two models..... any watchouts for towing with the Ridgeline. Both are from Rockwood Roo one is 23' (3660# dry) in length the other is about 20'(3495# dry) in length.
Thanks in advance for the input. I don't want to make a mistake on a big purchase like this if someone can provide feedback.
BTW - What a great truck! Glad to have made the purchase!!:D

Any recommendations of one over the other as far as towing capability???

I may be over analyzing this TT tow thing! Just having a hard time envisioning a V-6 doing everything one needs in towing a 3500 # trailer. (bought the vehicle first! and absolutely love it) TT came up.... now that we have a truck... let's get back into camping.
Anyhow, here is an interesting article I found on the internet about towing with a Ridge. Reading it sure made me feel better! ... may be old hat for you longterm members..... if so sorry for the repeat....

What a great truck.... like it more than any I have ever owned in the short time I have had it!

Lighter is better! The problem is that with a 3500# trailer, once you add the weight of the water, propane, food, clothes, dishes, and other goodies, you're pushing the 5,000# limit. A general rule of thumb to be safe is to not tow over 80% of the vehicles rating. That would mean 4000# in the case of the Ridge. I shopped around and found a 19' trailer that weighs 2460# dry, then with all the other stuff onboard, it weighs around 3,500#, which is comfortable.

I’m with Jeff on this as well. The 80% rule is a safe bet which is discussed in great detail on all of the RV forums. We tow our 19 footer with a few hundred pounds more at 3750-lbs. with two full bottles of propane and half a tank of fresh water on board and our Ridgeline has proven to be a great tow vehicle in the 5000-lbs towing capability class. To simply keep an eye on "excess baggage" really will make a difference and the more often you go camping, the more you'll learn how and what to bring along. Happy Campin'!

Dude,
My trailer looks almost like yours! I got the Trail Cruiser without the slide-outs, and really love it!:D

I think you'll be happy with the quality of this camper. So far Cindy and I have had zero problems and tons of great times in ours. It's really fun to mod these things as well........

Has anyone towed an open car trailer? One vehicle I would tow weights 3100#. The other is 2350#.
Will I have any trouble?
Thanks
