Looks great, but where are the pics of the Ridge? :DI was actually lucky that I drove the truck that day as I had some off-roading to do to park. Every car bottomed out and scraped "something", I just dropped off the pavement (at some speed) and pulled up into some field where no car dared to go... especially after they all bottomed out :)

The third one you posted of the ferry/train terminal.I was actually surprised that that one came out. I seem to have issues with taking photos with bright backgrounds and too dark foregrounds.

That is where the immigrants go after they are allowed into the US, a very happy place, though many had no money after getting through Ellis Island.

Strong backlighting requires that you stop down your lens to allow the darker areas in the frame to expose properly. This generally overexposes the brightest areas. Since these lighting situations are a 'crap shoot', always bracket your exposures. Digital images are dirt cheap so always shoot as many frames as you can. Maybe your digital has a bracketing setting so you can fire off 4-6 frames without having to change the EV for each one individually. Play with ISO settings when shooting stronly backlit scenes. You may find that a higher ISO will yield better results.

Great photos, I look forward to them. Also I am planning on being your way the middle of March. If possible it would be nice to meet up with you. My son lives in Worchester MA.

I haven't played with layering yet either on the software side. The fastest ISO my camera can do is 400.... limited technology is starting to limit me... that's my excuse
